Night, as dark as ink.
The night was as cool as water.
At this moment, Slanting Bangs’s heart was burning with anger, threatening to burst through his head.
He hadn't expected to be reduced to this state by a human, not even a zombie.
His footsteps never faltered, and the direction illuminated by the light gradually allowed him to see clearly.
It was a man.
This man was dishevelled, with long hair and a scraggly beard, looking like a wild man.
His entire body was in rags.
He seemed to be holding a long weapon in his hand.
It seemed he no longer wished to hide; he didn't conceal himself, but instead walked directly towards Slanting Bangs.
Bring it on!
Slanting Bangs was furious internally, thinking, 'Let’s see how I deal with you.'
Playing tricks!
The two approached each other.
Slanting Bangs immediately thrust his spear forward.
The man opposite him tilted his body, dodged Slanting Bangs, and didn't stop moving.
Instead, he ran towards the little girl zombie.
Seeing this, Slanting Bangs frantically shouted, “Kill that little zombie with a knife!”
The two companions who had just managed to restrain the little zombie raised their long knives and brought them down on its body.
“No!” the wild-man-like man cried out in pain.
“Please, don't kill my daughter!”
But the long knife couldn’t stop, though it still shifted a few inches, only cutting off one of the little zombie’s arms.
When the wild man saw this, his eyes were bloodshot, and he let out an inhuman roar, “You all must die!”
“Step back, or I’ll kill it right now.” Even a fool would understand what was happening after this series of events, said the man standing next to the little zombie.
“If you don’t step back, I’ll kill it immediately,” said the man whose shoulder was simply bandaged, speaking harshly.
“Don’t kill her, don’t kill her, I’ll step back right now.” A flicker of pain crossed the wild man’s eyes.
He slowly retreated.
Slanting Bangs said, “Put down your weapon!”
There was a hint of struggle in the wild man’s eyes.
The man controlling the zombie child saw the struggle in his eyes and placed the long knife at the little zombie’s neck.
The little zombie had no consciousness, its head moved erratically, and the sharp tip of the knife cut its face.
At this moment, it looked even more terrifying.
But the wild man, seeing the little zombie, his eyes filled with an expression of loving affection, and when he saw its face cut, his eyes burned with rage: “Don’t hurt her.”
The ruthlessness in his eyes was clearly visible.
“Put down your weapon!” Slanting Bangs said as he approached.
Clang!
The wild man finally put down the long knife in his hand; it was a sharp boning knife.
It was exceptionally sharp; Da Zui and the other man had just died by this knife.
Slanting Bangs took the opportunity to approach and then held the knife to the wild man’s neck.
Anger flashed in his eyes as he said, “Why did you ambush us?”
The wild man remained silent, only staring intently at the little zombie.
“Why? Speak!” Slanting Bangs said fiercely, cutting the wild man’s neck with the long knife in his hand.
The wild man turned his head indifferently, the long knife leaving a deep mark on his neck.
“Because... she is my daughter!”
Slanting Bangs said exasperatedly, “Then what the hell does that have to do with you ambushing us? Are you sick or something, ambushing us for no reason? Damn it.”
The wild man looked at the little zombie with a benevolent expression and softly said, “She gets hungry.”
His light words instantly made everyone present feel as if they had fallen into the depths of winter.
Everyone thought of an unbelievable reason.
Immediately after, the wild man’s words confirmed their suspicions: “If I feed you all to her, she won’t be hungry. She’s always like this, always can’t get enough to eat.”
The affection in his eyes, his gentle tone, even carried a hint of a father’s doting love for his daughter.
“It’s a zombie, it’s not human. You feed living people to it, are you even human?” Slanting Bangs said exasperatedly.
He hadn't expected that someone as morally flexible as himself would now condemn another person for being immoral.
A sickly smile flashed across the wild man’s face: “It doesn’t matter, it’s not the first time anyway.”
As soon as he said this, Slanting Bangs and the others remembered the pile of human bones at the entrance.
It seemed that no fewer than 20 people had died at this man’s hands, fed alive to this little zombie!
Hiss!
Everyone gasped, taking a deep breath.
They remembered those human bones, all of them had been used as food, fed to zombies.
This, this was something a human being had done.
No, this could no longer be considered a human being.
They themselves had done some terrifying things in their lives, but they had never thought of feeding living people to zombies.
This, once again, shattered their understanding.
“What should we do, Hai Ge?” the man holding the long knife asked, looking at the little zombie at the knife’s edge.
Slanting Bangs looked at this wild man who seemed to be insane, yet spoke like a completely normal person.
A wave of frustration seemed impossible to vent.
He could understand this man’s love for his daughter.
But he couldn’t comprehend, was this something a human should do, feeding living people to her?
He asked himself, if a loved one also turned into a zombie, would he do such a thing?
This kind of fatherly love was somewhat heavy, somewhat twisted.
Harboring such complex emotions, Slanting Bangs genuinely felt how unfriendly this apocalypse was to humanity, pushing people to such extremes.
This damn apocalypse!
Slanting Bangs mumbled, letting out a curse.
After speaking, he brought the long knife in his hand down fiercely.
The wild man was struck down by the long knife!
Blood gushed out, staining the ground red.
As the wild man fell, his eyes were still fixed on the little zombie, and he spoke, “Don’t hurt her…”
His words were unfinished before he breathed his last, falling silent.
However, his widely opened eyes held reluctance, guilt, a hint of self-reproach, and a trace of relief.
He could finally stop killing people.
Slanting Bangs looked at the fallen man before him, feeling very uneasy.
There was no satisfaction after avenging himself, no relief from solving a problem.
Instead, it felt as if a heavy stone was pressing on his chest, making it hard for him to breathe.
“Hai Ge, what should we do with this little zombie?” a man asked.
Slanting Bangs took one last look at the fallen wild man on the ground, sighed, and said, “Kill it.”
Swish!
The long knife struck, killing the little zombie.
The little zombie simply fell to the ground with a thud.
Slanting Bangs looked at the wild man on the ground, whose gaze was still fixed on the location of the little zombie.
It felt as if a volcano was about to erupt within his heart.
Suppressed, yet unable to be released.
