Chapter 243: Penny Hill

The rain started at 4 PM and continued until evening.

It was too dangerous at night, so they tried not to travel during the dark hours.

Li Yu took out his electronic map and calculated the distance; it would take about 2 more hours to reach Zhuge Mountain.

They had no choice but to stay here for the night, which was good for a rest before continuing their journey tomorrow.

Actually, if they had maintained a normal speed today, they should have reached Zhuge Mountain much earlier, but there were some cars blocking their way on this road.

However, there was nothing they could do about it.

"Tie Zi, Gang Zi, Da Pao, you guys take turns on watch. It's raining now, and some zombies might find their way here," Li Yu said to them as they were eating.

"Okay, Big Brother."

"Alright, Big Brother."

"Okay, Yu Ge."

"This isn't like the Military Base. Everyone needs to stay alert and not get caught off guard," Li Yu said.

At night, the rain pattered down.

It rained all night.

The next day, Li Yu rubbed his somewhat gritty eyes. As expected, they had been discovered by zombies yesterday. Fortunately, there were fewer zombies in this area, and under their resistance, there were no casualties.

However, everyone hadn't rested well, especially Li Yu, who hadn't slept at all last night. The others had at least gotten two or three hours of rest.

It was already six in the morning.

The rain grew lighter, and the sky gradually brightened.

After eating something, they rested briefly.

Half an hour later, the rain outside stopped.

"Let's go!" Li Yu said.

Everyone picked up their already packed belongings and pushed open the main door.

With a push, it didn't open. Li Tie used force on the small door and finally got it open.

Last night, they had indeed attracted some zombies. Now, as everyone walked out of the house, they saw zombie corpses all over the ground.

No one lingered; they walked towards the Unimog.

After checking the Unimog and finding no problems, they once again embarked on their journey south.

After a night of rain, a fresh scent permeated the air.

The ground was wet, so they couldn't drive fast.

Although they occasionally cleared the road, more often than not, they used the Unimog to forcefully ram through the vehicles blocking their way.

This Unimog had already been modified by them. A V-shaped crossbar had been added to the front of the Unimog. After numerous collisions along the way, the crossbar was somewhat deformed, but its basic large shape remained unchanged and it could still be used for a while.

The journey was uneventful.

Nearly 3 hours later, at 10 AM, they arrived near Zhuge Mountain.

If it weren't for the precise map, they wouldn't have found this Zhuge Mountain.

Although Zhuge Mountain was a mountain, it was considered a Sinkhole.

They turned off the main road onto a Xiao Lu and drove for nearly 20 minutes until there was no road ahead.

Li Tie, who was driving the Unimog at the very front, stopped, and the vehicles behind him stopped one by one.

"What's wrong?" Li Yu asked Li Tie over the walkie-talkie.

"Uh, Big Brother, there's no road ahead. According to the map, they should be near Zhuge Mountain now. If they continue further, it will be another place."

Li Yu rolled down the window, looked at the surrounding mountains and forests, looked again, and then got out of the Unimog.

Li Hang also followed him out.

No road...

That shouldn't be. If it really was a Military Base, it couldn't possibly have no road leading to it.

With so much military hardware, vehicles would definitely be needed for transport. It wouldn't be possible without a stable, hard road.

"Tie Zi, Gang Zi, Da Pao, Wang Cheng, the five of us will get out and walk to check. The others stay in the Unimog and guard it. Contact us anytime if anything happens," Li Yu ordered.

"Yu Ge, can I go?" Song Min hesitated for a long time before finally speaking.

Li Yu shook his head and said, "You just stay here and guard. Let us know if anything happens. That's it, follow the arrangement."

Song Min didn't insist, nodding and saying, "Okay."

Li Yu and the others got out of the Unimog, carrying submachine guns and holding long knives.

"Big Brother, that Zhuge Mountain should be that one! We can only go via the Xiao Lu," Li Tie looked at the map and pointed to a mountain in the distance.

Li Yu looked at that mountain; it wasn't very tall, but it looked quite steep.

"Let's go, let's go check it out early," Li Yu said, then walked in that direction.

After a night of rain, both sides of the Xiao Lu were farmland, and the road was a bit muddy.

The group of five walked a few steps, and their shoes were covered in mud.

When they came out, they were all wearing Martin boots. Although these shoes were a bit heavy, they were durable.

A pair of these shoes could last a long time, especially in the wild. These shoes could be cleaned just by rinsing them off, whether they were in water or mud.

Everyone walked towards that mountain.

Soon, they arrived at the foot of the mountain.

At the foot of the mountain was a large iron gate, and next to the iron gate was a stone plaque.

The plaque read: Red Army Garrison Site.

What the hell.

Li Yu was a bit speechless. A site, what else could there be?

The iron gate was locked. Li Yu saw Li Tie looking around the large gate, but he didn't go to open it.

He said, exasperated, "There shouldn't be any other roads around. I've checked the side, there's a Xiao Lu, it should lead to the top of the mountain. We'll check that later. For now, let's open this large gate and go inside to see."

Li Tie rubbed his head, then forcefully opened the lock.

Bang, bang, bang.

Under violent destruction, the ordinary lock was hammered open by Li Tie.

When the large gate opened, what came into view was a 1-meter high wall built with bluestone bricks.

There were also some bullet holes on the wall.

Everyone slowly walked inside. This Zhuge Mountain was indeed a natural Sinkhole. Behind the bluestone bricks, there was a flight of steps leading downwards into the darkness.

"Turn on the flashlights. Tie Zi, Gang Zi, the three of us will go down and check, the others wait up here," Li Yu said, then walked downwards.

The flashlight was turned on. This flashlight was very powerful, capable of illuminating up to 30 meters, but with this illumination, it still didn't light up the deepest part.

It felt like the light was swallowed by the darkness.

Tap, tap, tap.

Li Yu and the others walked down step by step, slowly and cautiously.

Drip, drip, came the sound of water dripping.

Squeak, squeak, squeak~

Suddenly, there was a sound similar to a mouse.

Li Yu swept the flashlight in his hand upwards.

Hiss!

Everyone looked up and gasped. They saw that the top of the Sinkhole was densely covered with bats.

"Big Brother... I don't think this place looks like somewhere with military hardware," Li Tie's voice trembled slightly. He wasn't afraid of anything, but he hated creatures like bats.

"Since we're already here, let's take a look," Li Yu's voice was calm.

Li Yu looked back; they had already walked 50 meters, and there was still a little light coming from where they descended.

But if he only looked around him, the surroundings were completely dark. This place indeed looked eerie.

Li Yu thought for a moment, then stopped walking forward. He picked up a stone from the ground and threw it forcefully.

Thud!

The stone seemed to hit something, and then a roar came.

Zombies!!!

Everyone's expressions changed drastically.
