Chapter 320: Ice zombies

January 15th.

Southern Little New Year.

Only 6 days until Lunar New Year's Eve.

The weather was clear, with a light snow falling around 8 AM.

The outdoor temperature was minus 38 degrees Celsius.

Today, Li Yu and Bai Jie were on duty.

The current duty roster was randomly assigned unless someone specifically requested a change.

Originally, Yu Tong and Li Yu were scheduled for duty today, but because Yu Tong was feeling unwell due to her period, Li Yu told her to rest.

Conveniently, Bai Jie took her place.

After some time, Li Yu also began to include Bai Jie and the others in the duty roster.

However, he had a small trick: he would never let two of them be on duty alone. Instead, he would usually have them accompanied by his Second Uncle, Third Uncle, Maternal Uncle, or Da Pao.

Inside the guardroom at the main entrance, the atmosphere was a bit strange.

From the moment she entered the guardroom, Bai Jie had been staring at Li Yu’s face.

It had to be said, Li Yu's appearance was indeed excellent: clean skin, a high nose bridge, and a slender build that subtly hinted at powerful explosiveness.

Bai Jie's gaze was fiery and direct.

Li Yu couldn't quite handle it. Feeling the atmosphere was off, he cleared his throat twice to ease the awkwardness and asked, “Sister Bai, what do you primarily study in your major?”

“Hmm~” Bai Jie let out a soft exclamation, as if just coming back to her senses.

She said to Li Yu, “Ah, well, it’s mainly about studying the human body, its structure, life, um~ yes, for example, studying the origin of life, which is how babies are made.”

Li Yu’s face darkened. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“Stop, let’s talk about something else,” Li Yu quickly said.

Li Yu didn't know why, but he was actually a little afraid of Bai Jie at this moment.

Usually, in front of everyone, Bai Jie was clearly not like this; she was dignified and elegant. How had she become like this now?

There was a conflict in Li Yu’s heart; an evil little monster was constantly assaulting him.

Bai Jie said, “Then let’s talk about you~”

Li Yu raised an eyebrow and said, “Me? What’s there to talk about with me?”

“I want to understand your strengths and weaknesses, just like you can understand my depths,” Bai Jie said with a smile, a mole at the corner of her mouth.

As Bai Jie’s smile blossomed, that mole was like the finishing touch, making Bai Jie appear even more enchanting and captivating.

“...” Li Yu felt that this Bai Jie was a bit too bold, so direct.

Looking at this woman, around 27 or 28 years old, with her curvaceous figure.

Because she was indoors, she had taken off her coat. Her black, form-fitting sweater accentuated her fuller figure.

Her ample bosom, with its exaggerated curves, made it impossible to look directly, only to sneak glances.

The key was her lower half; she was wearing shark pants, which perfectly outlined her mature physique.

Sitting on the stool, Bai Jie completely enveloped the small stool.

MD.

Li Yu cursed silently in his heart.

This temptress.

Suppressing the tremor in his body, Li Yu cleared his throat twice and said, “I’ll go out and patrol for a bit.”

Bai Jie watched Li Yu, who was impervious to her charms, but the smile on her face did not falter.

She stood up, walked to the tea station nearby, and said, “Have some hot water first. Warm yourself up before you go.”

Then, with her back to Li Yu, she bent down, leaving him with a bowed back.

As she bent over, her clothes were pulled taut, the fabric stretched to its fullest.

Amidst the beautiful curves...

Li Yu accidentally saw this and his mouth twitched.

Damn it.

The most crucial thing was that when Bai Jie picked up the thermos cup, whether intentionally or not, her foot twisted.

She fell backward, directly towards where Li Yu was sitting.

Li Yu was just about to get up.

But then, she sat right down on him.

Hiss!

Li Yu felt the sensation of being squeezed in his body.

Soft yet elastic.

The feeling of being enveloped made him feel a strong sense of danger.

Although his body felt unusual, Li Yu's mind remained very rational.

He felt it was necessary to make things clear with Bai Jie, so he used both hands to support her and moved her to the side.

Bai Jie felt herself being moved and was about to close her eyes.

Then Li Yu's cold voice came, “I don’t know what you’re trying to do, but I can’t give you anything, do you understand?”

As soon as he said this, Bai Jie instantly understood Li Yu’s meaning.

There was no hint of embarrassment on her face; instead, she said, “I don’t need you to give me anything. It’s what I want to give you. Don’t you want it?”

“I don’t.”

“You really don’t want it?”

“No.”

“Really?”

“How about now?”

“Do not corrupt my Dao Heart!”

Li Yu struggled to push Bai Jie away, then put on two layers of warm clothes and ran straight outside.

Outside, the cold was bone-chilling.

Li Yu lit a cigarette, feeling the icy cold air pierce his body.

The heat from before was instantly doused with a bucket of ice water.

Frozen solid.

Li Yu only took two puffs from the cigarette in his hand because the outdoor temperature was too cold; every breath outside was a challenge.

Let alone smoking.

Just as Li Yu was trying to clear his mind, he suddenly saw a frozen humanoid sculpture in the woods not far away.

Li Yu rubbed his eyes, focusing his gaze, and the frozen sculpture was still there.

Thump-thump~

Li Yu returned to the guardroom. Bai Jie had already regained her composure. Seeing Li Yu enter again, she turned her head, checked that no one was behind him, and her expression instantly began to ripple again.

Li Yu ignored her, grabbed a pair of binoculars from a nearby stool, and walked straight outside.

“Did you find something?” Bai Jie, seeing this, also became serious.

“Yes, I found something, but I couldn’t see it clearly,” Li Yu said as he walked out the door.

On the outdoor wall.

Li Yu looked through the binoculars at the same spot as before; the frozen sculpture was still there.

Through the binoculars, Li Yu clearly saw that the frozen object was not a person, but a zombie.

“Frozen zombie?” Li Yu murmured.

But when did it appear? Why hadn’t he seen this zombie before?

Now it suddenly appeared, and it was frozen solid.

However, it was understandable. In temperatures where it was below minus 30 degrees Celsius during the day and over minus 40 degrees Celsius at night,

it was normal for something to be frozen solid after being outside for a long time.

But to be frozen like that would take time.

“Why did this zombie appear here?” Bai Jie, who had also put on her clothes, looked through the binoculars in that direction and asked, puzzled.

“I don’t know. We’ll go check it out later,” Li Yu said.

“How about we bring this zombie back for research?” Bai Jie suggested.

Li Yu considered that Bai Jie specialized in life sciences, so bringing it back for research was not out of the question. It would be a good opportunity to study it.

Immediately, Li Yu contacted Maternal Uncle and Li Zhengping, who were also on duty, via walkie-talkie and asked them to come over.

If they were to go out, someone definitely had to be on the gate wall, and if Li Yu were to go out, he would certainly go with several people.

Li Yu planned to bring that frozen zombie back to examine it.
