Chapter 360: Something fishy

The sun was high at noon, shining brightly.

Uncle San and the others exited through the back gate of the base, taking a detour directly towards the front gate.

They were well-equipped, carrying rifles and submachine guns.

“Xiao Yu, we’re out now and heading towards the front,” Uncle San said to Li Yu over the intercom.

Li Yu glanced at He Chao and the others walking towards the gate, then whispered, “Alright, be careful. I’ve just instructed He Chao and the others to let those strangers directly into Weng City once they’re outside.

When the time comes, you go check if there’s anyone else in the small grove. If there is, capture them directly.”

Uncle San calmly replied, “Alright, don’t worry. We’ll be there in three minutes.”

After He Chao exited Weng City at the base, he reined in the joy on his face, looked towards the woods, and slowly drove in that direction.

Captain Tao and the others, seeing He Chao and his group emerge, hurried forward and asked, “How was it? Everything smooth? How many people are inside? Did they ask you any questions?”

He Chao gave Captain Tao a meaningful look and said, “You’ll know when you go in and see for yourself.”

With that, he said nothing else and drove away.

After He Chao and his group left, Captain Tao looked thoughtfully at the wall ahead.

He was certain he hadn't exposed any issues, but he was also a bit worried. What if he went in now and couldn't get out?

Just as he was pondering, Mr. Wang, who was behind him, suddenly said, “You guys go in later, I won’t. If they see me, it might ruin your plan.”

Captain Tao turned, suddenly staring at him with a stern gaze and said, “You didn’t mention earlier that they built such a high wall here. Are you not telling the truth?”

Mr. Wang’s heart tightened, and he quickly said, “Every word I’ve said is true! Look, I told you they had a lot of food, and you’ve seen it; they have so much food now they can exchange items with people.”

Captain Tao was half-convinced, then said to Hua Chuanxiong and the others in the car behind, “We’ll go in together later. It seems they won’t let too many people in, so just four of us will go: you, me, Old Sun, and Old Zhou. Let’s the four of us go in and take a look.”

Hua Chuanxiong nodded and said, “Alright, everyone else stays and watches Old Wang and the person we captured.”

Captain Tao thought for a moment and added, “Let’s not bring guns, since all the bullets are already used up anyway. It would be hard to explain if they saw them.”

The others didn't object, so they slowly drove their cars towards the wall ahead.

After capturing the person from Liberation City yesterday and learning that Da Zhangshu Base could exchange supplies here.

They spent most of the day searching the surroundings, found a daily necessities processing factory, and obtained over twenty boxes of bath products, such as soap and shampoo.

Three vehicles, with four people, slowly approached the base.

As soon as they emerged from the woods, Li Yu and his group noticed them.

Uncle Er and Li Yu exchanged glances.

Uncle Er stood on the wall, holding a loudspeaker, and shouted, “Who are you?”

Upon hearing Uncle Er, Captain Tao quickly rolled down his car window and shouted, “Hello, we’re here to exchange supplies.”

Uncle Er continued to ask, “How come I haven’t seen you before?”

Captain Tao, using the excuse he had prepared, replied, “We’re from the neighboring county, and we heard someone say that we can exchange food here, so we rushed over. Can you really exchange here?”

Silence.

Uncle Er didn't answer immediately.

Meanwhile, Li Yu, standing nearby, received a message from Uncle San: “Found 12 people in the woods here—no, 14 people, and two are tied up. Looks like there’s a problem.”

Li Yu thought for a moment and said, “See if you recognize anyone?”

Uncle San took out his binoculars and carefully looked at each person, saying, “No, but the faces of the two people tied up in the car are obscured, can’t see them clearly.”

Li Yu said, “Alright, after we let them in, you can start your operation and take them all down.”

Captain Tao and his group waited under the wall for nearly two minutes without a response, just as they were wondering if something was wrong.

Creak~

The large gate suddenly opened.

Uncle Er said to Captain Tao and the others below the wall, “Excuse me, you need to hand over your weapons at the gate. After all, we haven’t seen you before. Hope you understand.”

Captain Tao cursed internally. For a moment, he thought something had been exposed, but luckily.

So he said ingratiatingly, “No problem, no problem, we understand.”

The vehicles slowly drove through the gate.

After entering the gate, they found it was empty inside. Dozens of meters away, there was another gate, but what was behind it was invisible.

Once all three of their vehicles had entered Weng City, Li Yu picked up his intercom and told Uncle San, “Everyone’s in. You can act now.”

“Received,” Uncle San replied.

Inside Weng City.

The large gate slowly closed, and the final thud of it closing gave Captain Tao and the others an ominous feeling.

Seven or eight people slowly descended from the wall, all holding firearms.

And on top of the wall, another six or seven people appeared, all holding rifles.

Seeing this, Captain Tao’s pupils slightly contracted.

They clearly hadn’t seen so many people on the wall just now, and they didn’t have firearms either.

How…

A bad premonition suddenly arose in his heart.

Something was wrong.

This was completely different from what Mr. Wang said about these people only having a few handguns; he was clearly lying.

He even saw someone holding an 85 sniper rifle. Was this person messing with him?

Once he got out, he definitely had to settle accounts with Old Wang. He was too unreliable.

Watching themselves slowly being surrounded by these people, Captain Tao was scared to death, but on the surface, he smiled and said, “We’re here to exchange things.

We’re exchanging daily bath products, there are over twenty boxes. I wonder how much food we can exchange for them here?”

Li Yu held his gun, subtly pointing it at Captain Tao and his group, and said, “Alright, you all get out of the car first. We’ll move the goods, weigh them, and then calculate it for you.”

With a gun pointed at him, Captain Tao cursed Mr. Wang eight hundred times in his heart. So many dark muzzles were all pointed at him; it was impossible not to be afraid.

So he slowly got out of the car, four people, lined up in a row.

Standing in front of the car.

Just then, outside the wall, gunshots suddenly rang out.

Bang bang bang~

Upon hearing the gunshots, Captain Tao and his group knew something was wrong.

So they looked at Li Yu and his group, becoming wary.

They shuffled their bodies, slowly moving towards the car.

Bang!

A gunshot directly hit a leg, and he fell to his knees.

Li Yu smiled and said, “Good, don’t move.”

After he finished speaking, Li Yu’s earpiece transmitted Uncle San’s voice:

“Big problem. Of the two people tied up inside, one is Mr. Wang, who escaped when we went to He Park before. The other is someone who escaped from Liberation City.”

Upon hearing this, Li Yu’s smile grew even wider as he looked at Captain Tao and his group.
