Chapter 2: anger

It was a Knight, astride a grey horse, wearing light full-body armor, with his helmet open and an iron longsword hanging at his waist. He was at the street corner, head bowed, eyes half-closed. He remained indifferent even when two Soldiers escorted Li Fenghuang to him.

“Officer Wilfa, we found a suspicious person. He looks different from us, and we don't know where he came from. Captain, how do you want to handle him?”

Faced with his subordinate's question, he didn't even lift an eyelid and casually said,

“Hmm? Oh. Do it by the book, arrest him, beat him up, then lock him up for a few days, and the rest is up to him.”

……

“What does this mean?” Li Fenghuang looked at the system panel, feeling a bit lost.

“Hurry up, stop dawdling! Damn it, I’m in a hurry!”

The Soldier behind him kicked Li Fenghuang’s thigh, making Li Fenghuang stumble and almost fall again.

“You…”

“You what? Hurry up, you want a beating, don't you?!”

The Soldier raised his palm.

Li Fenghuang flinched in fear, which only made the two Soldiers burst into laughter.

“Hahaha, look at his pathetic state, it’s so funny, like a pig or a dog, he’s nothing.”

“He got scared like this by just one slap from us. I thought he was some tough guy. Such a coward is the most boring.”

“Let’s go, quickly. It’s not often we get to follow along for tax collection this time. Anyway, since Lord Chambers collected so much tax money, if even a little bit leaks out from his fingernails to us, these days of hard work will be worth it.”

“Yeah, which tavern should we go to for fun then?”

“The one in the west of the city, the girls there are good.”

“Hahaha, good taste.”

“What are you looking at, kid? Get moving!”

Another Soldier kicked Li Fenghuang.

Confused whispers echoed in Li Fenghuang’s ears, and he lost himself in a trance.

“Am I… angry?”

“I… am angry…”

“I am very angry.”

“This is just a game, just a game…”

……

Chambers, the middle-aged man who went to collect taxes, swaggered down the street. From a distance, he saw Li Fenghuang being restrained by two Soldiers. Seeing this, Chambers walked over with a smile.

“You’re really lucky, kid. The Viscount’s young master in Buweier Town just made a small mistake, so you can help him bear a small part of it. This is your honor.”

Chambers patted Li Fenghuang’s face.

“I’m really hesitating whether to sell you to those big shots. Someone like you, they’d like…”

Chambers’ actions brought Li Fenghuang out of his trance, but there seemed to be some bloodshot in his eyes.

“Pah! Get lost! Don’t bother me!”

Li Fenghuang looked at the middle-aged man with a fake smile and felt even more annoyed, unable to resist cursing.

“Slap!”

Chambers slapped Li Fenghuang’s face, then burst into laughter.

“Dog from another land, you guys continue. You’ll get what’s coming to you!”

“Thank you, Lord Chambers!”

The two Soldiers were overjoyed, almost wagging their tails like dogs in gratitude.

“I didn’t tell you to leave!”

The anger in Li Fenghuang’s heart seemed to overpower his reason.

“Hmm? You’re not convinced?”

Chambers sneered and walked back to Li Fenghuang, extending his hand.

“Alright, alright, isn’t this a game? I’ll let you trap me! And you NPCs, watch closely!” Li Fenghuang seemed to have found an outlet for his anger. He stared at Chambers, “You dog, die!”

Li Fenghuang directly grabbed the man’s outstretched hand and simultaneously punched him in the face!

Fenghuang exploded, punching the man’s head!

“Ow, ow?! Damn! Crazy, absolutely crazy!” The man was dazed and saw stars from Li Fenghuang’s punch.

“Come on, I’m hitting your NPC, let’s see if you care?” While shouting, Li Fenghuang landed two more “thump, thump” punches on the middle-aged man’s body.

At this moment, some onlookers saw Li Fenghuang striking someone and immediately erupted, “Quick, quick, tell the Knight, someone’s fighting in the city!” “Quick, fight back, fight back!” “Harder, yes, yes, just like that! Good!” “Go, go! Fight, awesome!” “He’s hitting people, someone come and stop it!”

Just as the two Soldiers behind Li Fenghuang recovered and drew their weapons to step forward, Li Fenghuang also realized something was wrong, but he had already acted. So what if he fought?

Li Fenghuang pulled out the copper short sword provided by the system from his system space and held it in front of him.

“You wouldn’t dare!”

For a moment, the two Soldiers hesitated, looking at the copper sword in Li Fenghuang's hand, not daring to advance. Was their meager daily wage worth fighting for their lives?

The situation was at a stalemate. Some onlookers cheered and added fuel to the fire; some wanted to find the Knight to intervene; some tried to mediate; some just stood by, watching the drama unfold… But not a single person dared to step forward and separate the two. “It’s none of my business, so I’ll stay out of it.” This seemed to be the survival rule ingrained in most people’s hearts in this world.

Perhaps this was also correct, after all, many unforeseen disasters also stemmed from being overly enthusiastic.

……

“Stop! How dare you! Fighting in the street, what kind of behavior is this! Do you think our Knight Order doesn’t exist?!” Just then, Wilfa, a Knight riding a grey horse, wearing light iron armor, and with an iron longsword hanging at his waist, slowly approached from the street corner, finally arriving in front of Li Fenghuang, who was confronting the two Soldiers.

“I just saw you.” Li Fenghuang calmly observed the Knight, but his eyes seemed a bit lost. He kept thinking, “This is that Knight. Should I kill him too?”

“No, no, what’s wrong with me?”

As Li Fenghuang thought, the grip on the copper sword in his hand tightened a few more points.

“Officer Wilfa, this kid is unruly, similar to those who didn’t understand the rules before, no, even worse. Look, this…” As he spoke, Chambers pulled out a few silver coins from his tattered clothes, which Li Fenghuang had beaten, and quietly slipped them into Knight Wilfa’s waist pouch.

“I see. You’re really inefficient, causing all this trouble just by escorting a petty thief. You’re truly disturbing my peace. Don’t let it happen again.”

“Yes, yes, Lord Wilfa.” Chambers smiled fawningly, “I’ll treat you to drinks another day.”

Wilfa looked at Chambers, who had patches of hair missing on both sides and a significantly receding hairline. He suppressed his laughter and forced a gentlemanly smile, “That won’t be necessary. I generally understand the situation. His identity is indeed suspicious. Mr. Chambers, you stopped this madman, preventing him from attacking other citizens. Your merits and demerits cancel each other out, so I won’t pursue the charge of your ineffective supervision of the prisoner.”

“You, kid! You have violated the rules. Is there anything you wish to say to this Knight?” Knight Wilfa’s expression changed in an instant, and he looked at Li Fenghuang with a sneer, “Hmph, merely a lowly person…”

“What a grand facade! I, young master, have nothing to say.” Li Fenghuang saw every move of Chambers and Wilfa. He hated nothing more than people who were sneaky, pulled strings, and colluded—whether they were commoners or those in power. At this moment, there was no more hesitation.

“Hmph!” Li Fenghuang felt his fear being quietly drained away by something. He looked arrogantly at Knight Wilfa, tilted his head, and his smile stretched into a wide arc at the corners of his mouth. Although not exaggerated, it had reached the point where his expression was stiff. “Lowly NPCs, I really want to kill all of you.”

Although Wilfa didn’t understand what “NPC” meant from the strange-looking outsider’s mouth, hearing the word “lowly” from Li Fenghuang, he knew that the kid in front of him was insulting him.

“You’re asking for death!” He was a high and mighty Knight; how could he endure insults from commoners? Wilfa was enraged and immediately took action: Wilfa flipped his hand and swung his sheathed longsword directly at Li Fenghuang’s leg. Li Fenghuang felt his legs give way, and his body involuntarily tilted sideways, then he fell heavily to the ground.

“I eat lemons!” Li Fenghuang cried out in agony as he fell to the ground. At the same time, he instinctively swung the copper sword in his hand, striking the horse’s leg.

“Whoa!”

The horse let out a mournful neigh and quickly retreated two steps, while Wilfa at this moment dismounted and, fuming, charged at Li Fenghuang with his longsword.

“Hmph, I can fight, I can… kill!” Li Fenghuang calculated on the ground, I have a copper short sword and Rage Mode, so I can certainly fight him, I can kill! Thinking this, a murderous aura, no, a frenzied look, appeared in Li Fenghuang’s eyes, which was more accurate.

“I’ll teach you to curse!” Before Li Fenghuang could stand up, Wilfa kicked him in the stomach. Li Fenghuang rolled twice from the kick and started coughing uncontrollably.

But even as Wilfa kicked him, he still swung the copper sword in his hand, leaving a dent in Wilfa’s armor.

“Say it again, peasant!” The Knight looked at Li Fenghuang with disdain, his eyes full of mockery and arrogance.

“You goddamn… *cough*!” Li Fenghuang was about to stand up when Wilfa walked over and delivered another solid kick to his body. “You lowlife!”

Li Fenghuang was kicked away again, lying on the ground, involuntarily dry heaving.

“No, I should be angrier…” Li Fenghuang tried his best to control the churning in his stomach, muttering to himself. He decided to activate Rage Mode, unleash his energy, and fight with all his might.

Under Rage Mode, many tiny red particles, invisible to the naked eye, floated out of Li Fenghuang’s body, moving with the wind around him. At the same time, a subtle red glow, hard for others to notice, flashed in his eyes.

“Ah—! Die!” The next moment, Li Fenghuang suddenly leaped up, pulled the copper short sword from his system inventory, and slashed down at the arrogant Knight!

“Clang!” The copper short sword that Li Fenghuang slashed down was blocked by the Knight’s light armor on Wilfa without any suspense.

“Hiss, you bastard!”

Even through the light armor, the sword strike Li Fenghuang delivered with all his might was enough to make a Knight feel pain, but it was just pain, causing no substantial damage.

In an instant, the whispers in Li Fenghuang’s mind disappeared, and his frenzied behavior vanished as well, leaving him only with confusion and impending danger.

Watching the sword strike on the opposing Knight’s armor cause almost no damage, Li Fenghuang’s pupils suddenly dilated, “Damn it, I can’t break his defense!!!”

At this moment, the enraged Wilfa had also drawn his iron longsword!
