Chapter 162 Topological Semimetal Launch
Lu Shan was very short of money, so he had to distribute all the dividends every quarter to get cash for experiments or starting new projects.
As for the operating costs, it is just to pay Zheng Kaige a salary and have money to recruit a team in the future.
So just get more dividends and save some money for yourself.
Although he felt doubtful, Pete still agreed to the request. It was not a bad thing for him, and it was impossible for Lu Shan to destroy Jiyue Company by himself.
Regarding the use of the five million, Pete hopes that Lu Shan will provide a usage plan. It is not a question of who he can trust, it is just an industry practice.
Lu Shan divided the five million into three parts, used two million to purchase materials, and started building a larger server.
Two million will be used to expand the team, negotiate business, and cover daily operating expenses.
The remaining one million will be kept for emergencies.
This "stingy" usage plan actually made Pete very happy. After raising funds, those previous companies tried hard to boast that they used the funds to develop technology and channels, but in fact they fictitious expenses and just took away a large part of the financing.
As soon as the funding plan was obtained, both parties simultaneously announced the news of their successful cooperation. Both the technology and capital circles of Xia Country were stunned!
Ke Xiaopeng from UC was the most excited. He had been jumping up and down these days, moving around everywhere and treating people to meals just to get investment companies to invest in him again. As a result, he spent a lot of money but got no response.
Investment companies are not stupid. Even if they don’t get along with Jiyue, they will not turn around and look for UC. The decline of UC is obvious to the naked eye.
It would be fine if the cooperation was successful, but the key is that the conditions are too outrageous.
At the beginning, UC fought hard and made IDG spend 500 million US dollars to get 15% of the shares, but Jiyue just "searched and searched" and gave it 5% of Class B shares. Such a comparison is too humiliating.
Ke Xiaopeng thought he had heard the news wrongly. How could IDG agree to such humble conditions?
But after making inquiries from many sources, the news was still correct: Ke Xiaopeng had shut himself off.
Come on! It turns out that I am just not worthy.
With the support of IDG's investment, Jiyue's fame exploded instantly. Pete opened up IDG's resources and worked hard to launch Jiyue browser online.
After this major event, Lu Shan checked his academic and technological scores, which had quietly reached points. He did not use them immediately because, at present, Poincare was enough and Turing had not yet begun to be used.
After Turing's three-month term expires, it will be renewed for another year.
According to the terms, IDG sent two people to help Lu Shan run the company. The woman was named Ou Ping, who was responsible for finance, and the man was named Zhang Dong, who was responsible for market strategy. Together with Zheng Kaige, who was responsible for technology, the basic framework of Jiyue Company was established.
However, the situation that Lu Shan was worried about still occurred. Ou Ping was fine. She was only in charge of finance, which was a technical job and she didn't have to worry too much about it.
IDG wants the most authentic financial data, that's why it is so important.
After all, IDG is investing real money, so it must monitor how its investment is used.
These funds must be used for the daily operations or business expansion of Jiyue Technology and cannot be used for other purposes.
But Zhang Dong felt very aggrieved. He was an international finance student at an Ivy League school, but he didn't expect to be working on market strategy in such a small company without any decision-making power. How could he tolerate this? What did Lu Shan know about the market?
With this in mind, Zhang Dong took out a letter of intent for market strategy, which Lu Shan rejected after reading it once.
Zhang Dong was a little unconvinced, but at the same time he also wanted to test Lu Shan.
"This marketing strategy letter of intent is not suitable. We can't rush to add paid items in the next step. It's enough to digest the current resources well. You need to identify and judge those advertisers one by one, and then give the right conditions. My conditions are..."
Lu Shan didn't bother to be polite with Zhang Dong. This guy came here to do work. He said it was market strategy, but in essence he was doing business negotiations. Zheng Kaige was not familiar with these rules and regulations, and he didn't have time.
Zhang Dong wanted to say something, but he couldn't say anything. Everything Lu Shan said was his mistake. It seemed that Lu Shan was not a bookworm, but had extremely rich social experience.
After instructing Zhang Dong, Lu Shan also gave Ou Ping a heads-up: "I won't ask about financial matters. Please formulate the process and show it to me. The business side must do a good job of reconciliation every month. The company has its own algorithm for checking accounts. Try not to make mistakes."
Ou Ping was secretly surprised. Jiyue Company was too outrageous. They even prepared an algorithm for checking accounts. It was obvious that Lu Shan had already planned the financing. Such a person should not be underestimated. Lu Shan warned them and signed a supplementary agreement on their salary. Basically, he said that he would not care about their salary at IDG, but at Jiyue, he would pay them according to the business situation.
The better they do, the higher their performance.
Zhang Dong put away his pretense of being a market strategy consultant and honestly went to negotiate with advertisers and other business partners. Ou Ping also took her job seriously.
"They said they wanted to build their own team. People from outside are really not considerate." Lu Shan was a little helpless. He thought that he should look for more suitable candidates in the future and not let Zhang Dong and Ou Ping hold him back.
After finishing this task, things started to happen on the other side.
Xia Guangming came to Jiangzhou and started the topological semimetal experiment with Shen Yanchun from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Jiangzhou University. Lu Shan attended the brief ceremony as a special guest member of the project.
The significance of studying topological semimetals is to increase the computing power and storage capacity of computers while using less energy.
While traditional semiconductors are the technological basis for most of today's computer chips, scientists and engineers are constantly searching for new materials that can generate more power while consuming less energy, in order to create better, smaller, and more efficient electronic devices.
The purpose of developing this material is to maximize the performance of semiconductors while consuming less energy. This is the only way for new chips. Whoever figures it out will be able to seize the high-end chip market, while latecomers won't even get a share of the pie!
The School of Materials Science and Engineering of Jiangzhou University specifically studies the electromagnetic resistance effect and surface electronic structure of topological semimetals.
There are two main paradigms for the study of single crystal growth and electromagnetic resistance effect of topological semimetal FeSn2: one is to deduce theoretically that a certain material has topological properties by searching in the material database or through first-principles calculations, and then guide experiments to verify. For example: TaP, Cd3As2, etc.; the other is to discover its topological semimetallic properties when characterizing the synthesized materials in the experiment, and then abstract the general concept of topological state. The transport properties (such as giant magnetoresistance, negative magnetoresistance and sdH oscillation, etc.) can reflect some characteristics of the topological band structure and are easy to operate.
Therefore, it has received special attention in the research of topological materials.
The research on electronic surface structure mainly focuses on the electronic structure of the topological semimetal α2-Ti3Al (0001) surface. The α2-Ti3Al bulk has a hexagonal crystal DO19 (Ni3Sn type) structure[15-16] and the space group is P63/mmc.
The conventional unit cell contains 8 atoms, among which Ti atoms and Al atoms occupy the 6h and 2c positions respectively. The structure is shown in Figure 1(a).
The surface of α2-Ti3Al (0001) is composed of 5 atomic layers separated by 15 vacuum zones to minimize the interlayer forces. Each atomic layer contains 3 Ti atoms and 1 Al atom.
Simply put, it is to find a way to reduce resistance and make electrons more active to achieve the goal of the fastest information transmission and processing, while also reducing energy consumption. FeSn2 is an indispensable material for such components.
The main research of Jiangzhou University's School of Materials Science and Engineering revolves around this material.
After receiving the topic, Lu Shan quickly entered the research state. After getting the information, he began to take an overall view and thoroughly understood the basic theory. Then he discussed it with Poincare, used mathematical theorems to derive a feasible model, and then built computer logic for Turing to review. Only in this way can the material performance under various experimental variables be calculated most efficiently.
Then we need to practice according to the model to see how big the gap is. If the gap is not big, it proves that it is feasible.
This approach is similar to setting a standard answer first and then seeing how close the students' solutions are.
Poincare and Turing worked together perfectly, and the mathematical logic model they created was highly self-consistent. At the very least, one should not dare to apply one's own theory to actual operations unless one can find any problems with it!
Unexpectedly, the team from the School of Materials and Chemistry isolated Lu Shan intentionally or unintentionally.
The willingness is simple. Lu Shan is a mathematics major. Although he has achievements in the field of communications, everyone thinks it is unreliable for Lu Shan to cross majors and engage in materials chemistry. How much energy can a person have? How much time can he have to learn so much?
Everyone thought that Lu Shan was just an undergraduate student whose talent was only in mathematics.
He probably doesn't know much about materials chemistry, and the team is basically made up of doctoral students, so it is never Lu Shan's turn to consider material issues.
Therefore, based on the principle of efficiency, the team taught Lu Shan only mathematics-related content, and they had to be specific projects in which the School of Materials Science and Engineering was involved.
This approach is equivalent to treating Lu Shan as a tool, asking him to come up with mathematical models but not overly participating in the research and development of materials. In the future, when rewards are awarded based on merit, mathematics, as the basic theoretical support, will not get too much credit.
The materials chemistry team started making the model on their own and didn't even ask Lu Shan to join in. It was obvious that they really didn't want Lu Shan to get too involved. They were also a little dissatisfied with Lu Shan. They were all excellent people, so who was worse than who?
Everyone is selfish, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Shen Yanchun, dean of the School of Materials and Chemistry, knows these problems, but he cannot forcibly change the status quo.
Scientific research depends on ability, not connections. Even if Lu Shan is allowed to conduct the experiment, it will be useless. Can Lu Shan operate all the equipment in the laboratory?
Can you understand so much content in the materials major?
If you want others to affirm you, you have to show your strength.
