Chapter 6: The blood bar on the monster's head

Lin Ye arrived at the meeting point Xu Song had sent him, and saw Xu Song as soon as he got out of the car.

“This is our group’s custom uniform, hurry up and change into it.”

“You all got to know each other in the group yesterday. We’ll talk about the precautions for entering the relic once we’re in the car.”

Xu Song had told him yesterday that he would provide clothes, weapons, and a backpack, so he just needed to come empty-handed.

The clothes Xu Song provided were specifically for Martial Artists; only those with the status of a Martial Artist could enter the Federal Martial Artist mall to purchase them.

His weapon was a Tang Dao, its blade gleaming with a cold light, clearly not an ordinary blade.

You Suowei was very happy to see Lin Ye and, being quite familiar, put his arm around Lin Ye’s shoulder.

“You kid, you look really good in our group uniform. It’s as if you were meant to be part of our group.”

“This Tang Dao was bought by the boss at a high price from an auction, but none of us are used to using a Tang Dao, so it’s just convenient for you, kid.”

“Let me introduce myself, my name is You Suowei, I’m about ten years older than you, you can just call me You Ge.”

Lin Ye smiled at You Suowei and carefully put away the Tang Dao.

“You Ge, are there any dangers in the relic we are going to next?”

You Suowei pulled Lin Ye into the car and sat next to him, replying, “You should ask, where in the relic is there no danger.”

“Although we are only going to an F-grade relic, the survival rate for ordinary Martial Artists is 80%, but if you accidentally provoke a group of Yao Beasts, or encounter a poisonous Mutated Plant, there’s a high possibility of the entire team being wiped out.”

“Mercenary groups do not need to pay extra fees to enter a relic, but when exiting, their backpack gains will be inspected and taxed. Either you directly use Spirit Medicine to pay the tax, or convert all gains into currency for payment.”

“We usually pay taxes directly. Boss Chen’s price for Spirit Medicine is slightly higher than the official price.”

“The officials are aware of these matters; it’s considered an unspoken rule.”

… …

Not long after You Suowei got into the car, Xu Song brought the other team members in as well and briefly introduced them to Lin Ye.

Lin Ye could sense everyone’s friendly attitude and gradually relaxed his body.

This was Lin Ye’s first time entering an Ancient relic controlled by the Federal Government, and the drive alone would take four hours.

You Suowei and the others were all sleeping, leaving only Si Xi to drive.

No one knew how the Ancient relics appeared, only that there were remnants of Ancient buildings inside them, and it was said that a Scripture Pavilion of an Ancient Sect had even been discovered.

Countless Cultivation Techniques were brought out from the relics and then adapted by scientists into Cultivation Techniques suitable for modern people to Cultivate.

Currently, only Yao Beasts and Mutated Plants have been found in the relics. It’s said that Ancient human skulls have been discovered, but no living humans have been found.

Numerous scientific studies have shown that although the living environment in Ancient relics is harsh, it can support human reproduction and survival.

The Yao Beasts in the relic are the best proof, yet the fact is that no humans survived.

Scientists studied for many years and finally came to a conclusion.

There exists a rule power in this world, and that rule power does not allow humans to survive and reproduce in Ancient relics. Ancient Cultivators recorded it as the Heavenly Dao.

Xu Song saw that Lin Ye was very energetic and, knowing he couldn't sleep, didn't urge him to rest.

He recalled that when he first entered a relic back then, his emotions were not as calm as Lin Ye’s now.

In the afternoon, the car drove into a base resembling a metal monster. After several manual inspections, it finally parked in a place similar to a subway station.

People around were coming and going in a hurry, no one was chatting.

Lin Ye looked at the relic base before him, his first impression was coldness, high efficiency, and high technology.

Xu Song took Lin Ye to the hall to register his identity and quickly obtained a temporary pass.

Lin Ye observed silently along the way, maintaining his composure throughout, whether he saw a Yao Beast as large as a car or a Mutated Plant wriggling like an octopus, without uttering a single gasp.

You Suowei stepped forward and put his arm around Lin Ye’s shoulder, praising him, “You kid are a natural for a mercenary. If you can’t get into a Martial Arts university, you can consider officially joining our group.”

“As for those garbage universities for logistics, there’s absolutely no need to go.”

“Besides wasting money, you won’t learn anything useful there. It’s better to enter society early; at least you can accumulate some work experience.”

“You kid have some Luck on you. Even if you can’t get into a Martial Arts university, with your special talent, you can still live very well.”

Getting into a Martial Arts university isn’t something you can just do. Even with Lin Ye’s special talent for distinguishing Spirit Medicine, it’s still too difficult.

Every year, nearly sixty million high school seniors apply to Martial Arts schools, but the admission rate is less than ten percent.

To prevent students from becoming anxious, the Federal Government conceals the admission rate and only publicizes that the first condition for applying to a Martial Arts university is to Breakthrough to a Martial Artist, giving people the misconception that they can get in with a little effort.

They had all Breakthrough to Martial Artists in their second year of high school, but none of them got into a Martial Arts university.

Qi An heard You Suowei and Lin Ye’s conversation, leaned over, and said to Lin Ye, “When you take the college entrance exam, you must report your special talent. Unless you have a superior Aptitude, otherwise, if you conceal your special talent, you will definitely regret it later.”

You Suowei also seriously agreed, “Yes, you must report your special talent; it can even add points to your college entrance exam score.”

Lin Ye didn’t know why You Suowei and Qi An were so serious, but he knew they wouldn’t harm him.

He hadn’t intended to conceal his special talent for distinguishing Spirit Medicine in relics anyway.

Without a special talent, with his Iron Bone (lower grade) Aptitude, he probably wouldn’t even pass the registration.

The relic barrier set up by the Federal Government gave Lin Ye a sense of space-time technology; all the equipment inside was something he had only seen in sci-fi movies.

At this moment, Lin Ye realized that the world ordinary people saw was just a tiny corner of this world.

Perhaps the world ordinary people saw was only the world the Federal Government wanted ordinary people to see.

Xu Song was afraid Lin Ye wouldn’t know how to use the instruments in the relic base, so he specifically had You Suowei guide Lin Ye.

Until he entered the relic, Lin Ye felt as if he had Transmigrated to the interstellar era.

So, Cultivation technology had already developed to this extent; the relic base actually had a teleportation array!!!

When Xu Song and the others entered the relic, it was like entering a battlefield; everyone was highly focused, their muscles tensed.

Lin Ye was protected in the very center of them.

“The entire team will advance according to the route I’ve planned. Lin Ye is entering this relic for the first time and has no practical combat experience, so You Suowei, make sure to protect him.”

You Suowei patted his chest directly upon hearing this and said seriously, “Don’t worry, Lin Ye is our team’s sharp-eyed one; we absolutely cannot let anything happen to him.”

Lin Ye had a very good impression of the Gu Song Mercenary Group, not only because everyone was willing to protect him but also because Xu Song had warned him in advance.

Nothing was more important than his life. If he encountered a life-threatening danger, he must immediately throw away his backpack and flee for his life.

The Gu Song Mercenary Group’s primary goal upon entering the relic was not to make money, but for all members to exit the relic safely.

Lin Ye cautiously walked among Xu Song and the others until they encountered their first Yao Beast.

The moment he saw the Yao Beast, Lin Ye couldn’t help but widen his eyes, then rubbed them with his sleeve.

Who can tell him what the hell is that health bar above the Yao Beast’s head!!!
