Chapter 48: Finding the Truth
Jiang Yu pushed open the door and was immediately greeted by a damp smell.
The room was pitch black. With the help of the little light coming in from the door, Jiang Yu managed to take in the scene inside the room.
The window was tightly closed, and the thick cloth completely covered it, not letting in a single ray of light. On the cloth, a formation was drawn.
Jiang Yu recognized it at a glance. It was a formation used by cultivators to conceal their aura.
She looked around and found that many places were painted with these formations.
It was broad daylight, but the whole house seemed eerie and dark.
Even though the door was wide open and the sunlight finally came in, Jiang Yu still got goose bumps.
No matter how you look at it, this doesn't seem like a place for a seriously injured person to live.
Jiang Yu took a few tentative steps inside and walked around the screen in silence.
Not surprisingly, there was an empty bed.
"Su Ning."
Without saying a word, she turned around and swung her sword, cutting open the closed doors and windows.
The light from the sky rushed into the house, the light was abundant, the sword energy rushed around, and the formation was broken.
Waves of evil energy surged out from the ground.
Jiang Yu lowered his eyes and found a large bloodstain beside the bed, as well as another blood formation drawn in blood, which was a smaller version of the formation outside the city.
There were sounds of fighting outside the house, and the sound of weapons colliding came into the house. Jiang Yu frowned and inspected the house carefully, knocking here and touching there.
When Wei Xu dealt with the two evil cultivators and ran in with Yuan Heng and the others, Jiang Yu just reached the bed, lifted the quilt, half-knelt on the bed, and knocked heavily on the inner wall.
"Dong dong."
A dull knocking sound was heard, and Jiang Yu's frown relaxed slightly. He stood up and jumped off the bed, pointing the tip of his sword directly at the hollow wall.
"This is it." She said to Yuan Heng.
Yuan Heng took a look at the destroyed formations in the room, as well as the blood formation that Jiang Yu had scratched with his feet by the bed, and his expression became serious: "The evil spirit is very strong."
He looked towards where Jiang Yu's sword was pointing. Since there was no evil spirit in the room, such a strong demonic energy could only have come from here.
Jiang Yu directly split the wall with one sword.
The wall collapsed with a loud bang, and the long stone door broke into several pieces, raising a cloud of dust that slightly blinded the five people.
Jiang Yu stood at the front, bearing the brunt of the attack. Dust flew in her face. She subconsciously raised her arms to cover her eyes. When she put them down again, the dim door behind the wall was completely exposed.
She rushed in with sword in hand, and several people behind her quickly followed.
There were no lights in the dim passage, but fortunately there was only one road, so Jiang Yu and the others did not need to figure out the direction.
Walking down all the way, Jiang Yu felt that he had walked through a flight of stairs of unknown length, and finally light appeared in front of him. After taking a few more steps, his vision suddenly became clear.
Another stone door.
Two candles illuminated the space in front of the door.
Jiang Yu reached out and touched the stone door: "There is no formation."
This is just an ordinary stone door without any formation or barrier attached, but they don’t know where the mechanism is yet.
Jiang Yu carefully felt the patterns on the door and said, "I don't believe that the city lord's wife would recuperate here." He also didn't believe that Wen Ren Huai was completely unaware of this.
The room was so dark that there was almost no light at all. She didn't believe that he knew nothing about the formations that were deliberately drawn in various places, and couldn't see them at all.
They were definitely wrong from the beginning.
They had a preconceived notion that Wen Ren Huai was definitely on the side of normal cultivators, and that he would never collude with those evil demons who mostly could only hide in the dark and not show their faces to the public. That was why they had been stuck in the same place, guarding the city on the ground and waiting for the evil demons to come to them.
Now that his mindset has changed, the impossible has become possible, and all the previous doubts about him can be explained.
Why couldn't he know in time that there were fewer people in the city? Because he was covering for those evil spirits;
Why didn't he know about the disgusting blood sacrifice formation outside the city? Because he was the accomplice of the evil demon;
Why did he need an outsider like her to inform him about the disappearance of the guards in his own mansion? Because he was one of the culprits in the disappearance. No, maybe he didn't arrange any guards at all, so that the group of evil demons who concealed their breath could enter and exit openly.
It seems that he is not unaware of this. Jiang Yu thought that all developments are probably under his control. He only needs to pretend that he doesn't know, and then he can sit back and watch them run around in the trap he set up like a headless fly.
If the city lord himself is the so-called traitor, then it is not surprising that the group of evil demons can keep track of their whereabouts at all times.
I just don't know if their breaking in here is also part of his plan.
"This pattern looks familiar."
Wei Xu followed Jiang Yu and carefully examined the patterns that were carefully carved on the door. "I just can't remember where I've seen it before."
This pattern seemed to be drawn casually by someone, and it looked like a butterfly but it was not a butterfly. He always felt that he had seen it somewhere, but he couldn't remember where it was at the moment.
Jiang Yu also followed his words and looked at the stone gate again. Unlike Wei Xu, she looked at it carefully this time and didn't feel familiar at all.
"I have never seen such patterns." She turned slightly and glanced at the three people from the Sun and Moon Sect who were looking for mechanisms in other corners. "There is no mechanism on the door."
Fang He shook his head: "I don't have any here either."
Sang Yang walked out from the corner, dejected: "I didn't find it either."
Jiang Yu finally looked at Yuan Heng. He held the sword in his hand, which he had summoned at some point, and shook his head slightly.
Jiang Yu looked back at the closed stone door and said, "Just force your way in."
Anyway, they had broken open the first door with brute force, and they didn't have the patience to continue searching. It would be best to find out the truth before Wen Ren Huai returned home.
No one refused her proposal, Yuan Heng stepped forward holding the Qingman Sword: "Let me do it."
It doesn't matter who comes, Jiang Yu did not refuse. He and Wei Xu stepped back to make room for Yuan Heng.
The stone door without formations and barriers was very fragile. Yuan Heng raised his sword and swung it, and the sword energy rushed towards the stone door. In an instant, the scene of the first door breaking was reproduced. Jiang Yu was choked by the dust raised when this poor quality stone door broke. Without stopping for long, he walked inside against the flying dust.
After walking through the spacious, lighted secret passage, Jiang Yu and his companions turned a corner and the road ahead suddenly opened up.
Countless lights illuminate the entire venue.
Jiang Yu and his companions stood there in a daze, their bodies stiff.
On the huge circular field was painted a formation that was exactly the same as the blood formation outside the city.
Countless cylinders stood in the formation, and on each cylinder was tied a scarred ordinary person. Blood flowed down the cylinders, into the tiny grooves on the ground, and flowed in all directions, forming a huge formation.
A high platform was built in the center of the formation, and on the platform was a long sword. Black air surrounded the entire sword, making it emit evil energy in every part. Moreover, an endless supply of evil energy was generated from the formation, approaching little by little, and merging into it. Next to the long sword, there was a man and a woman dancing a dance that they could not understand.
In addition to this, several demons turned their heads and stared at the entrance, their eyes falling on the five people who came in.
