Chapter 54: Different Positions

Chapter 54 Different Positions

The old man supported himself on the ground with his hands, digging his nails into the ground. Crystal tears mixed with blood that had not yet dried up dripped from his face. He stared at Wen Ren Huai and felt a dryness in his throat.

"Ten years ago, my youngest son got lost, and you personally found him and brought him home." He choked up, "And seven years ago, I accidentally fell off a cliff while hunting in the mountains. When I was about to die, you also came flying in on your sword to save me and gave me a life-saving elixir."

He wiped his tears, making his face a mess, but he bent his waist, looked up at Wen Ren Huai's head, and lowered it. His forehead touched the blood-stained ground, and his voice sounded again.

"You are the benefactor of my family and the most kind-hearted immortal I have ever seen." He said, "But if the price of my child returning home is death at the hands of evil spirits, and the price of my life is watching him being tortured to death, then I would rather he not return home and I would rather die under the cliff."

He clenched his fists tightly, pounded the ground several times, and burst into tears: "My parents died young, and my wife died after giving birth to the child. This is the only relative I have in my life. They took me home, grabbed my head--"

He broke down and cried, his whole body shaking violently. "They want me to see with my own eyes how my poor child was insulted by them, how he was tortured to death by them. The more I hate them, the happier they are, and the more uncomfortable my child will be."

He could hardly recall the details of that night. He only saw, through a splitting headache, his child kneeling at the feet of the evil demons in order to save him, still being humiliated and tortured by them. He saw him convulsing in pain, saw the blood gushing from his body, saw the hand he stretched out to him as he was dying, heard the evil demons' evil laughter, heard the child's cries of pain, and heard his father, covered in wounds, still begging the group of evil demons to let his father go.

He knew that the more he hated the evil, the more excited he would be, and the more painful it would be for his children. No matter how well he hid it, no matter how hard he tried to smile, they would always be able to sense his hatred. He tried his best not to hate, but he simply could not control the hatred that filled him.

He hates it.

He hates it so much.

He hated this group of brutal demons, hated himself for being incompetent, and hated the City Lord Wenren who lured him here.

He knelt down in front of Wen Ren Huai. The city lord who was once respected by all people now looked hateful in his eyes.

He wanted to kill him just like he killed those evil spirits.

But he was also his benefactor, and he was the one who gave him and his poor child their lives.

His forehead was pressed against the ground, his fists were clenched, and he couldn't get up.

Behind him, there were also people weeping. Some of them collapsed on the ground due to weakness, some were covered in blood because they had just killed evil demons, and some were pale and stood there watching the situation here.

Jiang Yu dared to guarantee that she must have seen hatred on these people's faces.

The scattered weapons were right at their feet, but no one picked them up and pointed them at Wen Ren Huai.

"why?"

"why?"

"why?"

People kept asking questions, but Wen Ren Huai's expression didn't change at all. He stood quietly in the circle surrounded by Yuan Heng and the others, not saying a word, letting the noisy voices around him continue.

Until someone walked out from behind the crowd.

Wen Ren Huai's expression changed.

The two girls, supporting each other, walked around the crowd and came towards Jiang Yu and the others.

Wen Ren Huai immediately wanted to go over, but Wei Xu dodged and blocked his way again.

"Step aside."

Wen Ren Huai frowned. Wei Xu sneered and looked behind him. Jiang Yu had already taken the initiative to go to the two people. He retracted his gaze and raised his head in the direction of the old man who was still lying on the ground and the people who questioned him: "You should answer their questions first."

Wen Ren Huai ignored it, gathered spiritual power in his hands, and threatened: "Get out of the way."

Wei Xu sneered, made an impatient "tsk" sound, and glanced behind him: "That's your wife, right? I think instead of pretending to be worried about your wife, why don't you put your mind back on answering the question?"

"Step aside!"

Wen Ren Huai attacked directly, and his spiritual power went straight to Wei Xu's face.

Wei Xu stood there calmly, unmoved.

Wen Ren Huai was weak, and his strength was greatly reduced compared to before. In addition, Wei Xu also had the self-defense magic weapon given by Demon Lord Jiang Wan and others. So although Wen Ren Huai thought he could scare off Wei Xu's attack, it actually had no effect on him at all.

Wei Xu had a mocking smile on his face: "City Lord, do you think that for the ladies, would they rather see Jiang Yu, who has all kinds of life-saving pills in his pocket, or you, the husband who has put her in such a situation?"

Wen Ren Huai was forced to take a few steps back by the magic weapon on him, and he was able to stand firm only when he entered the encirclement of Yuan Heng and Sang Yang again. Blood flowed from the corner of his mouth because of his actions.

He swallowed the fishy-sweet taste in his mouth, raised the corner of his sleeve to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth, and glanced at his wife Chu Qingyue, but did not get any of her attention.

He didn't dare to look up at Wei Xu, and lowered his eyebrows and looked at the dirty ground: "I didn't mean to hurt her."

"What about them?"

Yuan Heng said coldly beside him, "What about the people who want an explanation?"

Wen Ren Huai's gaze finally fell on these people. He first looked at the old man kneeling on the ground.

In fact, this man is not old. He celebrated his 37th birthday not long ago. It’s just that he lost his father and mother in his childhood, his wife when he grew up, and now his son. The suffering has turned his hair white, making him so haggard that people would think he is an old man over 50 years old.

"It's just a different stance."

He said calmly, looking in the direction of Chu Qingyue again. Jiang Yu seemed to have fed them all the pills. Both Chu Qingyue and Qin Yin, who needed her support to stand, looked much better than before.

"You stick to the immortal sect's principles of conduct." He continued, "I can naturally follow the evil cultivators' ideas."

"For this blood formation, the stronger the hatred of the owner of the blood used, the better the effect of the formation." Wen Renhuai tilted his head slightly, looked at the people who were waiting for his answer with tears in their eyes, and smiled slightly, "I have done my best to be the city lord, just to make them enter the blood formation and find that the real culprit is me, so that the hatred in their hearts will reach a new level."

Yuan Heng couldn't believe it: ". Ridiculous."

After a moment of silence, someone asked him in a trembling voice, "Have you never cared about us in all these years?"

Wen Ren Huai felt that he was a cruel person. He clenched his hands unconsciously into fists in his sleeves, with his nails tightly gripping his palms.

His face was calm, without any trace of guilt or despair after failure: "Yes, I never wanted to be such a so-called city lord loved by the people."

The old man kneeling on the ground moved, his body tilted, and he simply curled up and lay on the ground, allowing his hair and clothes to be stained with more blood. Yuan Heng lowered his head slightly and saw that he had a confused expression, as if he didn't know whether to cry or laugh.
