Chapter 7: Just because I saw you more in the crowd

Ollivander's Wand Shop.

Sherlock tried one wand after another, but none of them suited him.

Faced with this situation, Ollivander showed no impatience.

On the contrary, he became increasingly excited.

Sherlock didn't say anything either, just passively cooperated with the shop owner's selections, looking very patient.

Mr. and Mrs. Holmes exchanged glances.

Mainly, the two of them didn't understand what kind of wand Ollivander truly considered the most suitable.

In their opinion, as soon as Sherlock took a wand, it was snatched away by the eccentric old man before he could even wave it, let alone lift it.

This had happened several times already.

Finally, Mrs. Holmes couldn't help but speak, quietly suggesting to her husband, "Tanan, why don't we look elsewhere?"

Mr. Holmes also hesitated: "But I heard this is the only one here..."

"Huh?"

Unexpectedly, Ollivander's hearing was unusually sharp; although his attention had been fixed on Sherlock, he now looked up:

"Is this lady questioning the Ollivander family?"

Under the other party's sharp gaze, Mrs. Holmes couldn't help but feel a little nervous: "No, I just..."

"No need for such trouble, the Ollivander family has been making wands since 382 BC. No matter how picky the customer, they can always find the right one here."

"Including the one who left earlier?"

Sherlock suddenly interjected.

Ollivander was first stunned, then laughed, "What a keen little Wizard – yes, there was a picky customer earlier, and a very famous one too, ha..."

At this point, Ollivander seemed to realize something and corrected himself, "Rather than the Wizard choosing the wand, it's actually the wand choosing its Wizard!

Remember, no one leaves Ollivander's disappointed, Oh!

Saying this, he slapped his head and walked to the shelf from which the goods had previously flown out, retrieving a plain black wand from a corner.

"Beech wood and dragon heartstring, twelve inches, unyielding and flexible. Try it."

Sherlock naturally noticed Ollivander changing the subject.

He didn't ask further but took the wand as instructed.

The moment he grasped the wand, his heart tightened.

A profound and mysterious sensation suddenly appeared, as if something had connected him to the wand in his hand.

He gently waved it, and only a white smoke ring was produced, slowly floating away.

Not only that, but he seemed to hear the sound of a ship's whistle and the laughter of sailors.

It was as if he had resonated with the wand.

It was marvelous!

Even without understanding magic, Mr. and Mrs. Holmes could tell this was a wand suited for Sherlock.

"Did this wand choose me?"

Sherlock asked as Ollivander handed him the boxed wand.

"Yes, the wand chooses the Wizard — that's the standard answer."

Having finally found a wand for Sherlock, his picky customer, Ollivander seemed very pleased and explained a few more things:

"For a truly matched owner of a beech wood wand, if they are an adult, they will certainly be understanding and experienced.

If they are a teenager..."

Ollivander glanced at Sherlock, revealing a meaningful look: "Then it means he possesses wisdom beyond his years."

Wisdom beyond his years, huh?

Sherlock pondered.

At this moment, Mrs. Holmes also stepped forward, asking about the self-measuring tape measure.

However, she received the answer that non-Wizards could not use it.

This left her somewhat disappointed.

After paying 8 Galleons, Mr. Ollivander bowed and saw them out of the shop.

"To encounter two picky customers in one day, it seems this year's Hogwarts will be very lively..."

He murmured to himself, watching the family of three's retreating figures.

After purchasing the wand, Sherlock and his parents finally concluded their shopping trip in Diagon Alley for the day.

Under the premise of spending carefully, the items on the school supply list cost nearly 80 Galleons in total.

Adding a few extra books purchased, Sherlock had less than 20 Galleons left.

Mrs. Holmes felt that the restriction on the exchange of magical currency was discrimination by the Magical World against non-Wizard families like theirs, and she resented it for a while.

However, under Mr. Holmes's persuasion, she eventually gave up the idea of complaining, and the family successfully returned to the Leaky Cauldron from Diagon Alley.

Just as they were about to drive back, Sherlock paused.

He noticed a pair of adult male and female with a little girl, constantly wandering between the bookstore and the record store.

With just a glance, Sherlock determined that this was a couple with their daughter, and their purpose was the same as theirs not long ago.

Sherlock's actions caught the attention of Mr. and Mrs. Holmes.

Following his gaze, they naturally also saw the family of three wandering between the bookstore and the record store.

The couple was neatly dressed and refined.

The little girl had thick brown hair and was chattering about something.

Although they didn't possess Sherlock's observational and analytical abilities, it wasn't difficult to guess that the other party was also looking for the Leaky Cauldron.

Mrs. Holmes was a warm-hearted person.

As soon as she thought of her family's recent experience, she immediately pulled her husband and walked over.

She clearly intended to offer help.

Sherlock knew in his heart.

With that little Wizard, this family would certainly be able to find the Leaky Cauldron in the end.

But he hadn't expected that just by looking at them an extra time in the crowd, his mother would actively get involved.

Seeing that his parents had already started chatting with this family, he could only join them.

"Just as I thought! You're also looking for Diagon Alley, aren't you?"

Today's experience filled Mrs. Holmes with confidence, and she quickly took the initiative in the conversation with the air of a "seasoned veteran":

"Oh, I bet you, the Goblins at the bank were absolutely terrible, like Aunt Susan's apple pie next door."

"Holy Mary, they only gave us a 128 Galleon exchange limit! Not making money, it's simply too foolish!"

"If I see them again, I swear I'll kick their butts with my boots."

Mrs. Holmes's words quickly bridged the distance.

After they introduced themselves and learned that the couple named Granger were also not Wizards like them, she excitedly pulled Sherlock forward:

"Sherlock, this Miss Hermione Granger is also a new student at Hogwarts, you can look out for each other then."
