Chapter 6: New body, new beginning

'Sha Zhu, that bastard finally left.'

Chen Jianye gently exhaled, thinking to himself.

During the surgery, he was under anesthesia and couldn't perceive the outside world.

A short while after leaving the operating room, the anesthetic began to wear off, and Chen Jianye regained consciousness.

He had taken over the original body; although his physical condition hadn't changed, his mental state was much better than the original body's.

If Sha Zhu had kept watching him, he wouldn't have been able to take out the Dragon-Tiger Vitality Pill to consume. After Sha Zhu left, Chen Jianye didn't take the pill immediately.

He worried that Sha Zhu had just gone out to relieve himself and would return quickly.

Once he confirmed Sha Zhu had run off, Chen Jianye finally relaxed.

The effects of the anesthesia were lessening, and a sharp pain returned to his head.

His stomach, moreover, rumbled with hunger.

He had only drunk two bowls of cold water at noon and had been holding out until now. With his spirit recovered, Chen Jianye was so hungry his eyes turned green.

'First, I'll take the pill to repair my body.'

Time was short, so Chen Jianye tried to move his hands, raising his arms.

With a thought, the Dragon-Tiger Vitality Pill appeared before him.

Chen Jianye grabbed the Dragon-Tiger Vitality Pill and put it in his mouth.

The pill, like a nimble snake, slid down his esophagus, directly to his stomach and intestines.

As the medicinal power spread, Chen Jianye felt as if a fire was burning in his stomach.

His body was undergoing transformation by the pill, and his head felt particularly itchy.

A few minutes later.

Chen Jianye let out a soft 'huh' and reached up to touch his head.

There was no pain whatsoever.

He then touched his abdomen; his formerly thin body now had eight-pack abs.

His arms were also full of slightly bulging muscles.

Even the empty feeling in his stomach was gone.

"Awesome!"

Chen Jianye exclaimed excitedly in a low voice, directly pulling out the IV drip and getting out of bed.

After moving his limbs a few times, he felt an unprecedented comfort in his body.

'Let's try mastering the national martial arts.'

With a thought, Chen Jianye summoned the national martial arts.

Memories of arduous martial arts training flooded his mind.

A figure trained diligently through winter's coldest days and summer's hottest, never ceasing to learn, eventually becoming a master of national martial arts.

Every move and stance was etched in Chen Jianye's mind, even muscle memory was replicated.

Chen Jianye looked around. There was no space in the ward for him to practice moves; breaking things would mean paying for them.

'Ah, I can see in the dark now.'

Chen Jianye discovered that he could see his surroundings clearly, as if it were daytime.

Needless to say, this ability must have come from the Dragon-Tiger Vitality Pill.

'I'll try it in the Lingquan Space.'

With a thought, Chen Jianye's figure disappeared from the ward.

Inside the Lingquan Space.

Chen Jianye could finally get a good look at the space's condition.

The Lingquan Space was not large, about one hundred meters in length and width, and similar to the outside world, it was also late night within the Lingquan Space.

There were four fertile fields arranged in a 'field' character shape within the space, and at their central intersection was a spring covered with a large amount of pebbles around its edge, about ten square meters in size.

The spring water was clear, and one could see to the bottom.

Chen Jianye cupped some Lingquan water with his hand and put it in his mouth.

The spring water was cool, refreshing, and delicious, invigorating his heart and mind.

"Comfortable."

Chen Jianye grinned excitedly and began to practice his moves by the spring.

The national martial art of Tai Chi was completely different from the Tai Chi practiced by old men in parks in later generations.

Yang Style Tai Chi was fierce and powerful.

Back then, Yang Luchan, using the Tai Chi he learned from Chen Family's Village, improved upon it himself. After achieving mastery, he was invincible throughout the north.

With one punch, his opponent would surely bleed.

This showed the ferocity and dominance of Yang Style Tai Chi.

After completing a full cycle of Tai Chi, Chen Jianye's body was covered in sweat.

Wiping the fine sweat from his forehead, Chen Jianye prepared to leave.

'Ah, I transmigrated into a portable space. If I go out now, will I happen to run into a nurse on rounds?'

As he thought this, the scene outside the space suddenly appeared in Chen Jianye's vision.

It was still the dark room, the hospital bed, and the tightly closed door.

Chen Jianye thought to himself that the space's settings were very user-friendly.

Then, with a thought, he reappeared in the ward.

Feeling the strength in his body, Chen Jianye finally settled down.

Replaying the bizarre experiences of the day, Chen Jianye gradually clenched his fists.

Although the one who was hit by Sha Zhu's bench was the original body, who was already dead, the one who subsequently endured the pain was him.

That experience of life and death being in someone else's hands, being involuntary, stirred an inexplicable wicked fire in Chen Jianye's heart.

"No matter what, I must not end up in the same predicament again. Whoever dares to harbor ill intentions against me, I must eliminate them beforehand."

Chen Jianye muttered to himself, his eyes gleaming with fierceness.

Afterward, he began to ponder how to live well in this world full of beasts.

A new body, a new beginning, with the system's blessing, Chen Jianye feared no one and resolved to live a magnificent life.

Siheyuan (Courtyard).

"Third Master, open the door!"

"Open up!"

Sha Zhu pounded on the door, his voice growing louder.

"Coming!"

Yan Fugui came out of the house and replied.

Soon, the main gate opened.

"Sha Zhu, how is Chen Jianye?"

Yan Fugui asked immediately.

"He's fine, he'll be discharged in a few days."

Sha Zhu said lightly.

"That's good then. You don't know how worried I was about both of you."

"It's good that you're both fine."

Yan Fugui feigned concern.

"Third Master, I appreciate your concern."

Sha Zhu was deeply touched.

There were many good people in the Courtyard.

Seeing that his objective was achieved, Yan Fugui didn't chat much with Sha Zhu.

Since Chen Jianye was alive, there was naturally no way to plot for the Chen Family's house, so his plan had to be considered in the long term.

It was a pity that Sha Zhu's brute strength didn't kill Chen Jianye.

It must be that the Chen Family had deep blessings, destined to leave a bloodline behind.

Yan Fugui closed the door, pondering on his way back.

Sha Zhu returned to the Middle Courtyard and gently knocked on Yi Zhonghai's door: "First Master."

Lights came on inside the room.

Yi Zhonghai, wearing a coat, opened the door: "Sha Zhu, you're back. Come in and sit down quickly."

Sha Zhu followed Yi Zhonghai into the house.

"Is Chen Jianye alright?"

Yi Zhonghai poured Sha Zhu a cup of hot water.

Seeing Sha Zhu return, Yi Zhonghai had guessed it, and now he was just confirming the situation.

"He should be fine. The doctor said he was rescued, but he still needs to recuperate in the hospital."

"I don't know how much it will cost."

Sha Zhu grumbled, feeling like he had lost a lot.

"Money is a small matter. If Chen Jianye had really been smashed to death by you, you would have to pay with your life."

"Whatever amount of money is needed, just tell me."

Yi Zhonghai said calmly.

Sha Zhu pouted.

He wasn't satisfied with this conversation.

He had clearly acted to save Yi Zhonghai, so logically, Yi Zhonghai should be paying him.

Why should he pay?

"Sha Zhu, go back and rest well. Tomorrow is a holiday, and I have work for you to do at home."

Yi Zhonghai was ushering him out.

"What kind of work?"

Sha Zhu was puzzled.

Yi Zhonghai pointed to the opposite side: "Chen Family's Aunt, she's gone."

"Chen Family's Aunt wasn't angered to death, was she?"

Sha Zhu was startled.

He instinctively thought that Chen Family's Aunt had died of anger, worried about Chen Jianye.

If that were the case, his fault would be too great, and he would have formed an irreconcilable enmity with Chen Jianye.

"Chen Family's Aunt died a while ago; it has nothing to do with you."

"I've discussed it with a few Grandpas. We'll bury Chen Family's Aunt tomorrow to prevent any unclean things from harming the elderly and children in the Courtyard."

"You'll have to help out."

Yi Zhonghai said.

"Ah, I see. First Master, don't worry, I'll definitely help out."

Sha Zhu felt relieved, but his mind was preoccupied with other thoughts, his soul not quite present.

Yi Zhonghai saw Sha Zhu off, then stood at the doorway, looking at the deep, dark sky, his gaze reflecting the darkness.

The next morning.

Chen Jianye opened his eyes at 6:30.

His stomach rumbled.

His body was hungry.
