Chapter 3: Second Life Simulation

Huo Huo was in a place where Mingyi couldn't see.

“What the heck, it seems he really is just an ordinary person with a bit of luck and knowledge of some future events. Aren't people who transmigrate in strange ways supposed to have some unusual qualities?”

It had come to this point; if he had any abilities, he should have used them by now.

Alas, it seems the stage won't have an extra actor.

Huo Huo sighed, originally thinking he would be quite an interesting person, but she never expected such an outcome.

As for helping him, Huo Huo looked at Mingyi's retreating figure and felt a trace of boredom. An ordinary person couldn't handle her torment, so it was better to let him go.

For now, she should find Sampo. Judging by the time, he should be arriving soon, and the matters here weren't urgent.

Huo Huo's figure vanished from the spot with a flash of fiery red.

Mingyi continued to run forward based on his intuition, but it wasn't until he saw the dwindling signs of human habitation that he realized he had stumbled into a dead end.

There was no turning back now, so Mingyi walked to the end of the alley. It seemed he could only stop here.

He wondered what kind of punishment Huo Huo would mete out... sigh...

The leading hound snarled at his two companions behind him: “The smuggler who ran in this direction must be around here. This street is a dead end, everyone search carefully.”

“Understood, Captain.”

The hounds' footsteps drew closer, pressing down on the quiet surroundings.

This place was far from the hustle and bustle, and even the light was much dimmer.

Suddenly, a voice rang in Mingyi's mind: 【Detected a Transmigrator from Earth. Congratulations, Host, you have acquired the Life Simulation System.】

【This system can help the Host conduct life simulations and experience diverse lives. The power of a Trailblazer obtained in simulations can be fully brought back. Other powers and items can be brought back after meeting sufficient conditions, and each time a new life ends, it will freely help condense a Trace.】

Wow, it's actually a system! Was it given by Huo Huo? Or perhaps the God of Fun?

Mingyi was extremely shocked. A golden finger was standard for Transmigrators; what Transmigrator wouldn't want one?

“It's just... System, why are you so slow?”

【Traffic jam on the way. No choice, please bear with it.】

Never mind, as long as he had a way to change his fate. He issued a command in his mind: “Simulate... Activate!”

【Life Simulation System Activated】

【Collecting current universe information, collecting current Host's wishes, information processing in progress...】

【Information processing complete】

【Locking time anchor point】

【Scene generating, characters loading.】

【Welcome to your second life.】

“Father, where are we going next? We have been in exile for almost ten years. Where is our home?”

Mingyi, almost an adult, asked his father by the firelight at night, as his father looked at the notebook recording their remaining resources.

He was somewhat pessimistic. The King of Suspended Peak Kingdom had gone mad, wanting to attack Okhema, uncaring of his people's lives, even sending them to their deaths for nothing.

Mingyi's father was originally a minister in the Suspended Peak Kingdom, but he and his beloved could not stand the Suspended Peak King, who had abandoned the Suspended Peak spirit. They privately advised him many times, but to no avail.

In despair, Mingyi's father used the excuse of Mingyi's birth to retire to his hometown, lived a peaceful life for a while, and then, when the Black Tide struck, led his clansmen away from their original dwelling place.

Now, they seemed to have nowhere to go.

The Suspended Peak Kingdom regarded them as traitors, and Okhema was their enemy.

As for Janusapolis, those priests were short-sighted and greedy, not a good place to go either.

This group of several hundred people could not camp in the wilderness for too long; since the Black Tide crisis erupted, dangers were everywhere.

Mingyi's father, with a heavy expression, put down the notebook: “We will go to Okhema. Not only does it have a Demigod, but His Highness Madmos is also there and has already allied with Okhema.”

“But doesn't Okhema view Suspended Peak as a mortal enemy? How could they accept Suspended Peak people?” Mingyi asked, puzzled.

Actually, they had another option, which was to go to the Tree Court. He heard his mother was from the Tree Court, but he didn't know why his father and mother were somewhat resistant.

Okhema and Suspended Peak were sworn enemies; their feud had been forged through years of mutual conflict. Even if Okhema's leader agreed, the people of Okhema would not, would they?

Mingyi's father patiently explained: “Because our enemy has never been humanity itself, but the Black Tide.

Okhema's Demigod ruler is a farsighted person. To fulfill the oracle and save the world, Okhema needs the power of our Prince, and in turn, the Prince needs the resources provided by Okhema.”

“After the world is saved, the Black Tide should disappear, and there will be no more wars, right?” Mingyi suddenly understood and felt relieved.

Mingyi's father chuckled, “That is inevitable.”

“Then when I arrive in Okhema, I also want to become a Golden Descendant, participate in the journey of salvation, and protect our world.”

Mingyi's father said nothing more, only looking at Mingyi with satisfaction.

He didn't want to dampen his child's confidence, because they did not possess the bloodline of the Golden Descendant.

And if one wanted to become a Golden Descendant by other means, one could only receive the blessing of a Titan, and a Titan was not someone just anyone could meet.

As Mingyi and his father were talking, someone rushed to them in a hurry. She was the attendant who usually looked after Mingyi's mother.

She brought news that was a catastrophe for Mingyi and his father: Mingyi's mother had died of illness.

Mingyi and his father, shocked, exclaimed, “What!” and immediately rushed to Mingyi's mother's residence nearby.

Mingyi's mother, having not fully recovered after giving birth to Mingyi, had a lingering illness, and then years of wandering caused her to be seriously ill in her later years.

Due to Mingyi's mother's severe illness, the people led by Mingyi's father had been living in this forest for some time.

After Mingyi and his father entered the room, they both couldn't help but weep bitterly. Eventually, Mingyi was sent out of the room: “Let me be with your mother alone.”

The voice revealed exhaustion.

For decades, this strong man had persevered with the encouragement and support of Mingyi's mother, but now... there was no one by his side to gently recount the past.

Mingyi, squatting by the door with his head down, suddenly looked up at the moon peeking through the clouds and whimpered softly: “This damned world!”

The next day, Mingyi's father, who had originally looked robust, suddenly became hunched, and his hair also turned a bit white.

In this apocalypse, people always need something to rely on.

Some people's reliance is on gods, some on their clansmen, some on vague spirits or glory, or perhaps a grand prophecy: see you tomorrow.....

But for Mingyi's father, his reliance was Mingyi's mother.

The reason Mingyi's father led so many people was partly because, while loving his beloved, he also loved the people of the Suspended Peak clan. With people, there is a home; that's where the feeling of home comes from.

But... the harbor called home was still swept away by the tsunami.

Mingyi heard the movement behind him and immediately woke up and stood. This was an instinct honed by years of survival.

“Fa... ther...?”

At this moment, Mingyi's father's appearance made Mingyi disbelieving.

Mingyi's father slowly walked out of the room, and only when he saw Mingyi did a glimmer of light appear in his eyes.

Mingyi's father hugged Mingyi: “I'm fine, I'm fine... You must believe that humanity will definitely defeat the Black Tide and end the apocalypse.”

Mingyi secretly made up his mind that he must defeat this so-called Black Tide. Because of it, everyone fought each other; because of it, people were displaced; because of it, countless families like his were torn apart.

If this disaster called the Black Tide was deliberately manipulated by someone, then I will surely pierce your chest with the weapon in my hand and see if your heart is black.

No matter the reason of the mastermind, such actions are absolutely unforgivable.

If there was no such mastermind, he would not even have a target to hate, and could only vent his anger on the mindless Black Tide monsters.
