Chapter 3: The game begins and the first loser appears!

A game rule reminder appeared in the minds of all five people.

They reread it repeatedly, and their expressions changed.

The glasses man’s face sank slightly, and he subconsciously pushed up his glasses.

The pajama woman remained expressionless, seemingly still immersed in the aftermath of that slap.

The glamorous woman touched her hair, her face looking very unnatural.

The big man, however, frowned tightly, seemingly not understanding the game rules.

“Interesting rules.” Su Yang nodded silently; it was his first time realizing a card game could be played like this.

“Damn it, I thought it was Jin Hua. What kind of bullshit rules are these?” The big man snorted coldly, unable to resist cursing.

“Everyone has a revolver on their table, and the cylinder must have been reset. The loser has to shoot themselves in the head, right?” The glamorous woman asked.

The glasses man nodded, “According to the rules… that’s indeed the case, but I don’t know which chamber the only bullet is in.”

As soon as his voice fell, the scene fell silent once more.

Clearly, this death game was full of unknowns.

You never know whether tomorrow or an accident will come first.

If one’s luck is very bad, and the first bullet is already chambered, then once they lose, death is the outcome.

Death is eternal; there is no regret.

Nor is there any so-called resurrection.

Therefore, this death game gambles not only on psychology and courage but also—life!

There were only two identities in the tavern.

The Deceiver and the Deceived.

After thoroughly reading the rules, the big man licked his lips, “Then let’s do it. I’m very unlucky with stocks, but I’ve never lost at cards.”

Liu Ming shifted uncomfortably, “How about we all introduce ourselves? My name is Liu Ming, and I’m from Luoyang.”

Zhao San: “Zhao San, just call me Old San. My hometown is Pingyang.”

Guo Xiaoyun: “Guo Xiaoyun, Linxi.”

“Su Yang, Donghai.”

After waiting for a long time, the pajama woman did not reply.

Zhao San slapped the table with a loud bang, “Hey, what’s your name? Are you mute?”

Yun Peipei came to her senses, her eyes full of trepidation, and she whispered, “Yun Peipei, Xiangjiang.”

“Damn it, speak louder! Your voice is as small as a mosquito. If this were outside, I’d make sure to screw you over.” Zhao San leaned back in his chair, his gaze wantonly appraising Yun Peipei.

Zhao San, from his initial nervousness to now being slightly accustomed, gradually revealed his conduct and true nature.

Although Yun Peipei was wearing loose pajamas, her curvaceous figure was hard to conceal, and her gentle and lovely face carried a hint of a pitiful aura.

Zhao San liked her very much.

He liked those who seemed soft and weak, wishing he could rush up and pin her against the wall for a good time.

Listening to the screams that came from her small cherry-like mouth.

“Heh heh…” Zhao San smiled wickedly, his eyes full of greed.

Yun Peipei still couldn’t forget the force of that slap, not daring to meet his gaze, and kept her eyes fixed on the tabletop.

Soon, a Minotaur-bodied creature from the side flipped over a card from the top and placed it in the middle of the table.

It was a Queen of Hearts.

Then, starting from Guo Xiaoyun, cards were dealt clockwise to Zhao San, Su Yang, Yun Peipei, and Liu Ming.

Until each person received five cards.

The moment they received their hands, everyone held them up and took a look.

Su Yang’s hand contained 2 Queens, 1 Joker, and 2 Kings.

“Three valid cards.”

Excluding the three cards in his hand, there were still eight valid cards outside.

According to probability distribution, each person should have two.

Of course, this was just an expectation.

If someone was lucky enough to hold five valid cards, then the other three people would only be able to split the remaining three.

Those with bad luck might not even have one.

This game relied heavily on luck, but of course, strategy also played a large part.

Liu Ming slowly closed his cards, looked at the expressions of the other four, and a slight smile played on his lips.

Guo Xiaoyun remained expressionless, perhaps due to her work outside, she was very good at disguising herself.

Yun Peipei, however, wore her cards on her face, her lips moving, as if muttering her card type.

“Damn it, with such a terrible hand, how am I supposed to play?” Zhao San grumbled, flipping his five cards face down on the table.

At this moment, no one spoke. Without knowing the others’ card types, words were merely a signal.

Zhao San might be playing hard to get, or it might truly be the case.

No one dared to blindly believe him.

Because once they lost, they would have to pick up the revolver, point it at their head, and pull the trigger.

Just then, a group of beast-headed human-bodied creatures gathered around, with two standing behind each person.

“Hmm?”

Su Yang had been observing everyone’s expressions and small movements from the beginning.

Among them, Guo Xiaoyun touched her hair four times, Liu Ming adjusted his glasses three times, and Yun Peipei frowned five times.

Zhao San was carefree; apart from placing his cards face down on the table, he had no other superfluous movements.

Everyone possessed a Talent skill, but each Talent skill had a prerequisite for activation.

For example, ‘Deception’ required half of the people present to believe what was said for it to come true.

Currently, Su Yang didn’t know any of their Talents, and similarly, they didn’t know Su Yang’s hand.

Therefore, these strange creatures speaking an unintelligible language suddenly gathering around was definitely not a coincidence!

Someone must have secretly activated a skill.

“Who could it be?” Su Yang’s gaze swept across their faces, but he found no abnormalities.

Except for Yun Peipei, who was as nervous as ever, the other three looked normal.

“We need to play a Queen, right? Who starts first?” Liu Ming asked.

At this moment, a translucent arrow suddenly appeared in the center of the table, pointing directly at Guo Xiaoyun.

Immediately, the clock on the wall began to turn, starting from precisely twelve o’clock, the minute hand slowly moving clockwise.

Each player had a five-minute limit per round.

Time started!

“My turn.” Guo Xiaoyun threw out a card without changing her expression, “A ‘Queen’.”

After Guo Xiaoyun played her card, the pointer on the table rotated clockwise, pointing at Zhao San, who was to Su Yang’s right.

“Only one? Is it a real Queen?” Zhao San’s lips curved upwards as he probed.

“Guess? What if it’s fake?” Guo Xiaoyun revealed a charming smile, captivating one’s soul.

When an ordinary person says such words, it usually implies, ‘Come on, open me.’

There was a clear hint of inducement in her words.

Of course, it could also be Guo Xiaoyun bluffing and doing the opposite.

Deliberately doing so to scare Zhao San.

“You think I wouldn’t dare to open it?” Zhao San sneered repeatedly, “I may not have much else, but I’m full of guts!”

“I’ll open it!”

Saying that, he slammed the table, flipping over the card Guo Xiaoyun had played.

A King!

“You dared to open that?” Guo Xiaoyun’s face instantly turned pale, her eyes filled with disbelief.

“What’s there to be afraid of? My eyes are like a ruler; I can tell if it’s real or fake with just one look.” Zhao San won the first round, laughing heartily.

“Damn you, I’ll never let you off!” Guo Xiaoyun’s hand uncontrollably grabbed the revolver and pointed it at her temple.

She looked ferocious, her originally delicate features twisted, her eyes filled with malice and anger.

And a strong sense of fear.

“You bitch, who are you trying to scare? I’m the next player after you. When is it your turn to open me?” Zhao San was triumphant.

He tasted the thrill of the death game for the first time, his body trembling with excitement.

This kind of segment, where you push others into despair, is truly thrilling!

The four people watched Guo Xiaoyun close her eyes, silently praying, her teeth clenched tightly.

At this moment, she was the most devout believer of the gods.

“Go to hell…” Zhao San’s eyes were fixed on Guo Xiaoyun’s head, anticipating the sight of it being pierced by a bullet!

“Click!”

The moment the sound rang out, everyone’s heart, including Su Yang’s, skipped a beat.

Guo Xiaoyun pulled the trigger, but no bullet was fired.

She let out a long sigh of relief, cold sweat already soaking her clothes. She slumped onto the table like a deflated ball.

“Zhao San, you’re dead!” Guo Xiaoyun, having just walked through hell, had murder in her eyes.
