Chapter 223: White Sea above the sky

A month later, in the waters near Jaya Island on the Grand Line.

The White Gull was anchored on a sea as calm as a mirror, reflecting the azure sky.

“Jaya Island…” On the deck, Tesoro held a nautical chart, his brows slightly furrowed.

He then looked up at the busy port nearby, with ships coming and going.

That was Mock Town, which had not yet become a pirate gathering place.

“Vice Admiral Gern, that’s Mock Town ahead. Do we need to land there to resupply and perhaps ask the local residents?” Tesoro turned and asked.

“After all, if the nautical chart isn’t mistaken, this is the Jaya Island sea area mentioned in the legend of Nola the Great Liar’s Golden City.”

“No need.” Gern leaned against the ship’s rail, his gaze fixed on the sky, a slight smile playing on his lips, “Because we’ve already landed.”

“Landed?” Tesoro was stunned. He looked around, but besides the vast sea and Mock Town on half of Jaya Island in the distance, where was any other land?

“Gern, you’re not joking, are you?” Snake Princess leaned lazily against the mast.

Her reddish-orange long hair fluttered in the wind. She chuckled softly and stroked her pet snake: “There’s nothing here but seawater.”

“If Gern says we’ve landed, then we’ve definitely landed!” Libo skipped over to Gern, her small face tilted up, and her fluffy rabbit ears perked up: “Gern, did you discover something?”

Gern looked down at Libo, his eyes full of doting affection.

He then reached out and held her in his arms, rubbing her head and smiling: “Indeed, my Libo understands me best.”

Seeing this, a hint of envy flashed in Snake Princess’s eyes, and she immediately changed her tone: “Actually, I also believe you, Gern.

Sky Island must be somewhere!” After saying that, she feigned anticipation and spread her arms, looking as if to say, “Come and hug me.”

However, Gern seemed not to notice her, walking past her directly.

His gaze returned to the sea, and he murmured, “I think I know how to get up there.”

Tesoro shook his head helplessly: “Vice Admiral Gern, although that place is called Sky Island, it can’t really exist in the sky, can it?

Perhaps it’s just a small island hidden in the sea, exaggeratedly called ‘Sky Island’ by adventurers.”

“Exactly, exactly! Legends are often given unique colors.” Snake Princess pouted and echoed, while also complaining that Gern didn’t hug her.

Gern didn’t retort, only smiled slightly.

He raised his hand, and a wisp of pale white vibrating particles condensed on his fingertips, lightly touching the air.

In an instant, the surrounding air seemed to be pulled by some force, creating subtle ripples.

“Look over there.” Gern pointed to the distant sea.

Everyone followed his gaze, only to see a small water column suddenly shoot up into the sky at the horizon where the sea met the sky.

“Isn’t that just a sea current?!” Tesoro frowned, “Although the rising state…”

At this point, Tesoro suddenly realized, “Wait, Vice Admiral Gern, you’re not trying to say….”

“Exactly,” Gern nodded, “Here, the ‘Upwelling Current’ is the only passage that can send a ship directly into the sky.”

“So…” Libo jumped up excitedly: “Are we really going up to the sky?”

A hint of surprise also flashed in Snake Princess’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by haughtiness: “Hmph, even so, you should have hugged me just now.”

Gern gave her a helpless glance, then said seriously:

“But this Upwelling Current is rare and hard to come by, so…

Since there isn’t a ready-made Upwelling Current, then we’ll just create one ourselves.”

Before he finished speaking, Gern suddenly raised his hand, palm facing down, fingers slightly splayed.

“Boom—Crack, crack!!!”

In an instant, the entire sea surface seemed to be violently pressed down by an invisible giant hand, instantly collapsing into a terrifying vortex a thousand meters in diameter.

Then, driven by the vibrating molecular form of the air, it compressed smaller and smaller.

As a result, the molecules, affected by vibration and friction, constantly rotated and circulated, creating seawater compression, which in turn caused a frantic rotation, and the pressure at the center of the vortex sharply increased.

“Wh-what is this?!” Tesoro gripped the ship’s rail tightly, his face pale: “Vice Admiral Gern, you’re not trying to use your ability to send us, ship and all, into the sky, are you?!”

Snake Princess’s pupils constricted, and she instinctively tensed her body: “The ship won’t be able to withstand it….

Also, Libo, get off Gern’s back!”

Gern paid no attention to their words, only a slight smile on his lips as he suddenly pressed his palm downwards!

“Bang!!!” A terrifying shockwave suddenly erupted from the bottom of the vortex, and the high-pressure impact directly penetrated the deep sea, then—

“Rumble!!!” An Upwelling Current hundreds of meters in diameter spewed out from the center of the vortex, soaring into the clouds like a giant dragon!

“Hold on tight!” Gern shouted.

“Heaven Quake: Return to the Void.”

Libo shrieked and hugged Gern’s neck, while Tesoro clung desperately to the ship’s helm.

Snake Princess, on the other hand, stumbled, almost getting thrown off, but Gern quickly put an arm around her waist and pulled her back.

“You!” Snake Princess, seeing this, was about to reveal her beautiful and charming shy side from being embraced at the waist.

But as soon as she opened her mouth to speak, she was filled with a mouthful of the oncoming gale.

Hmm… everyone can imagine this scene, it can only be said that her image was completely gone!

The White Gull gradually accelerated, propelled by the current.

The ship began to shake violently, as if it could be torn apart by the immense force at any moment.

So Gern stood at the bow, swung black blade eight desolations, and directly created a vacuum layer at the point of contact between the ship and the current, just in case.

The next second, the White Gull was completely swallowed by the Upwelling Current, and the ship, like an arrow released from a bow, shot straight into the sky!

Amidst the violent jolting, Libo’s screams, Tesoro’s shouts, and Snake Princess’s “la la la la” sounds intertwined.

Gern’s eyes reflected the approaching sky, and he silently thought: “Sky Island, here I come.”

As the altitude increased, the surrounding scenery gradually blurred, and clouds rapidly swept past the sides of the ship.

Finally, after a dazzling white light, the White Gull broke through the 7000-meter and 10000-meter high cloud layers, crashing heavily onto a vast expanse of white cloud sea.

“I… are we really in the sky?!” Tesoro clung tightly to the ship’s rail, his face ashen as he looked at the endless cloud sea beneath his feet.

Libo’s entire rabbit ears were pressed tightly against her scalp, and her fluffy tail puffed up into a white ball: “The clouds, the clouds are solid?!”

She cautiously jumped down from behind Gern, looking at the White Sea outside the ship’s rail, and swallowed, “It’s exactly like the sea!”

While the two were astonished, only Snake Princess remained frozen like a statue.

She mechanically held her giant snake, her reddish-orange long hair disheveled, and her usually proud and beautiful face was blank.

Just at the moment of the upward surge, Gern had wrapped one arm around her waist, carrying her under his armpit all the way into the sky.

Her proud image, her carefully maintained mature woman aura, all were blown to pieces by that gale.

“Snake Princess?” Gern waved his hand in front of her eyes, “It shouldn’t be, right? A dignified Grand Swordsman is scared silly already?”

Looking at Gern’s hand waving in front of her, Snake Princess’s pupils finally focused. She slowly lowered her head to look at her wrinkled cheongsam.

Then she touched her hair, which had been blown into a bird’s nest, and finally her gaze fell on Gern’s hand, which was still on her waist.

“Gern, you just now didn’t…”

“I did.”

“G-E-R-N-R-E-G-I-N-A-L-D!!!”

【Salty Fish Science Class: Explaining the principle of vibration creating ocean currents.

It mainly uses ocean resonance excitation, because water molecules themselves are in eternal thermal vibration.

If the vibration frequency of water molecules is directly controlled, they can resonate synchronously, converting microscopic vibrational energy into macroscopic kinetic energy.

Therefore, when all particles vibrate vertically with the same phase, superimposed mechanical waves will be generated in a localized area of the sea surface, forming a high-pressure water column (similar to acoustic levitation, but on a massive scale).

Then, crustal vibration coupling is employed: by the last push, directly vibrating the seabed crustal particles can induce an artificial “undersea earthquake.”

The high-frequency tremors of the plates will push seawater upwards (similar to volcanic eruption mechanisms).

If energy is continuously input, the current will break through the shackles of gravity and rush into the atmosphere oh ₍ ₍ ᕕ ( ´ ◔ ⌓ ◔ ) ᕗ ⁾ ⁾!】
