Chapter 10: Assessment

Listening to the lively sounds of the crowd, Jin Bao was anxious, wishing he could rush in immediately, but as soon as his large frame squeezed in, he was pushed back out.

It was Tie Li who pulled him, clearing the way ahead, and they forcefully squeezed in.

“Who is it, constantly pushing in?”

“Don’t push, don’t push, you’re pushing in the wrong place.”

“Oh, what are you doing?”

Ignoring the surrounding complaints, Tie Li looked up and saw several registration areas for intermediate academies.

Anyone who met the minimum enrollment requirements would come here today, and even those who didn't would come to try their luck.

Tie Li saw several familiar faces, all of whom were senior students from the academy's sixth grade.

“Tie Li?”

Hearing the familiar voice, Tie Li turned his head and saw Li Li.

But why does he look so happy to see me?

Standing beside Li Li was a girl of the same age, dressed in simple cloth clothes.

“Tie Li, can you do me a favor?”

Before Tie Li could ask, Li Li explained what had happened.

Originally, with his standards, he could easily pass the assessment for an Intermediate Soul Master Academy; he had chosen Baihui Intermediate Soul Master Academy. A normal assessment wouldn't be a problem, but Li Li wanted his assessment score to reach an excellent level so he could waive tuition and miscellaneous fees.

The girl next to Li Li had the same goal. The teacher from Baihui Academy then temporarily set up an assessment for them.

They were to find another student with spirit power below level fifteen to form a team and participate in a three-on-three team match.

Li Li's spirit power had broken through to level eighteen, and the girl's spirit power was level sixteen.

Their opponents, students from Baihui Academy, all had spirit power at level nineteen.

“If I participate in the assessment with you, and if I pass, will I also be exempt from tuition fees when I go to Baihui Intermediate Academy?”

This was what Tie Li was concerned about. The tuition fees for an Intermediate Soul Master Academy were not a small sum, and if he could get a tuition waiver, Tie Li would naturally be happy.

“Uh… I’ll go ask for you.”

“Okay.”

Li Li hesitated for a moment, then got up and ran towards the Baihui Intermediate Academy's registration area.

In a short while, Li Li was seen running back excitedly.

Tie Li's heart rejoiced; it seemed it was a success!

“The teacher agreed. Come with us to register.”

Tie Li nodded, first letting Jin Bao wander around on his own, while he followed them, signaling for the two to slow down.

Soon it would be the three-on-three team match, and both sides would surely need to understand each other to have some basic coordination.

“Tie Li, level thirteen, one-ring Battle Spirit Master. My Spirit is a Forging Hammer, suitable for direct frontal assault,” Tie Li introduced first.

“Xiao Li, level sixteen, one-ring Battle Spirit Master. My Spirit is a Swift Wind Mouse, my advantage is speed,” the girl said.

“Li Li, level eighteen, one-ring Battle Spirit Master. My Spirit is a Scythe, capable of long-range attacks or close-range bursts.”

Hearing Li Li's introduction, the girl looked at him with surprise, not surprised by his spirit power level, but by his Spirit Ability?

Two attack methods? He only has one spirit ring, and his Spirit is very ordinary…

Arriving at the Baihui Academy's registration point, the academy's assessment teacher was a middle-aged uncle in his early forties, dressed rather casually. A light blue robe was draped over him, with a white outer garment underneath, embroidered with exquisite patterns in gold thread.

He wore a kind smile on his face, which added to his appeal.

“Come and test. Teacher Bai, please record his information.”

The assessment teacher took out a blue crystal ball and motioned for Tie Li to place his hand on it.

“Hiss.”

The blue crystal ball glowed faintly, and the assessment teacher said, “Age ten, spirit power level thirteen, meets pre-enrollment conditions.”

“Alright, you have five minutes. The assessment will begin shortly.”

The three did not delay, making simple tactical arrangements for the upcoming assessment. After all, with only five minutes, no elaborate tactics could be discussed.

Under Li Li's guidance, Tie Li saw the three opponents they would be fighting shortly.

They were all teenagers around thirteen or fourteen, but with a hint of arrogance in their eyes.

“Alright, let the assessment begin.”

Baihui Academy specifically cleared an open space, enclosing a circle with white powder. The six individuals would fight within the circle.

If a teacher intervened in the battle or if a limb went out of bounds, it would count as elimination.

Tie Li and his two teammates were the first to enter the circle. The three lined up in a row, with Tie Li in the middle, Li Li on the left, and Xiao Li on the right.

As the opposing three entered the circle, the assessment teacher announced the start of the battle.

Team assessments were relatively rare in enrollment assessments, attracting the attention of many students and teachers.

“Bang!”

Tie Li's knees bent slightly, gathering strength before exploding forward. The speed he instantly unleashed was astonishing.

His right hand summoned his Spirit, revealing clear scale patterns and unique sharp corners on the hammer handle, completely unlike a Forging Hammer. A yellow hundred-year spirit ring encircled his Spirit, further showcasing its extraordinary nature.

The three opponents were startled by Tie Li's sudden burst and immediately summoned their Spirits. All three were Beast Spirits, and characteristics of their Spirits appeared on their bodies.

They were Wolf, Tiger, and Serpent type Spirits respectively. Except for the Serpent Spirit Master who had a hundred-year spirit ring, the other two had ten-year spirit rings.

In contrast, on Tie Li's side, except for Xiao Li who had a ten-year spirit ring, both Tie Li and Li Li had hundred-year spirit rings.

Tie Li chose the Serpent Spirit Master, who was the strongest among the three opponents.

His Serpent Spirit was not of high quality, and his first spirit ring came from a four-hundred-year Thunder Serpent. The aura emitted by the spirit ring had a significant suppressive effect on him.

First Spirit Ability, Thunder Hammer!

The Serpent Spirit Master, affected by the Thunder Serpent's aura, trembled and didn't even know to dodge, forgetting to release his Spirit Ability. The large hammer, imbued with lightning, was about to reach his chest.

“Bang!”

The assessment teacher intervened, taking the Thunder Hammer for him.

The heavy force, coupled with the high damage from the lightning, made the assessment teacher look at Tie Li with a hint of surprise.

There was a huge level gap between the two sides. Even without using his Spirit, simply relying on his physical strength, he could withstand Tie Li's attack. However, his right hand, which caught the Thunder Hammer, still experienced a brief numbness.

The assessment teacher's intervention meant that he was eliminated, making it a three-on-two situation, which was a great advantage.

“Zzzzt, zzzzt!”

Two long blade lights streaked past the assessment teacher's sides. Li Li released his first Spirit Ability, attacking the other two Spirit Masters.

“No need to compete anymore, you have passed the assessment.”

The assessment teacher intervened again, dispelling the blade lights Li Li had unleashed.

“You two are very good, promising talents.”

The most incredible thing was Xiao Li; she hadn't even made a move yet, and she had passed the assessment?

And in both cases, the assessment teacher intervened to block their attacks.

Are their strengths really that powerful?
