Chapter 16: R&D Elite Set

Recalling the magic array he had seen on the battlefield earlier, and the terrifying rain of fire from the sky, Andrei asked Boris, who was following him, with a pained expression:

"Boris, why haven't we seen any Necromancers on our side? I remember the enemy seemed to have launched a magic attack earlier!"

Hearing this, Boris's face clearly showed a hint of disdain, as if he had thought of something.

"Heh, those Necromancer masters in our country, don't even mention them!"

"They are different from the Necromancers of the Black Hawk Empire; they are traditional and noble magic geniuses, not the pure expendable combat Necromancers like those in the Black Hawk Empire. How could these old fogeys be willing to personally risk danger on the battlefield?"

At this point, Boris couldn't help but spit and say:

"Damn it, those effeminate Necromancers are even more afraid of death than the noble masters. At least the noble masters still have some honor; what do they have left besides cowardice and selfishness?"

"The Black Hawk Empire established a National Academy of Magic 20 years ago, specifically to train combat Necromancers, but our Necromancer masters here are still clinging to the few books in their homes!"

Andrei didn't know what to say about Boris's rant; he always felt that the existence of Necromancers in this world seemed to be common knowledge.

But he also understood that it seemed there was a significant difference between the Necromancers on both sides!

If he were to make a comparison, their Necromancers, even now, seemed to be like artisans of the past, still teaching from master to apprentice, emphasizing an orderly inheritance.

On the other hand, the Necromancers of the Black Hawk Empire had already entered vocational technical schools, beginning to systematically compile knowledge and train them on a large scale!

Thinking of this, Andrei couldn't help but roll his eyes.

Why did he feel like his side had nothing?

The enemy had Necromancers, those strange multi-legged armored vehicles, and even Soldiers in power armor called Fear Knights.

But on his side, all he could command were ordinary Soldiers. If it weren't for the Players, he wouldn't be able to fight this war at all!

Seeing Andrei's silence, Boris turned around and saw the expression on his face, thinking Andrei was also indignant about the Necromancer situation.

So he immediately spoke to comfort him:

"But Captain, don't worry. Although our Necromancer masters have always been unreliable, the Church is very reliable!"

"We not only have military chaplains and combat nuns, but sometimes we can also get the support of Living Saints."

"This was just a surprise attack, and the Church hasn't reacted yet, so they haven't sent Living Saints. If a Living Saint could come, all those damned Black Hawk devils would be finished!"

Andrei blinked at this, indicating that he dared not speak.

Damn it! What the hell!

He now wanted to ask again, what kind of grotesque world had he transmigrated into? How could there even be Living Saints?

He didn't know what these Living Saints were. When he heard that term, his first thought was of the golden, shimmering Emperor's Daemons in Warhammer 40k who could sweep away thousands of troops at will!

If such monsters really appeared, then there would be nothing left for them, the small Soldiers, in this war.

Compared to Andrei's side, which was relaxed and even had time for small talk, the Black Hawk Soldiers on the opposite side were different; they felt as if they had encountered a group of monsters.

Just now, Soldiers were continuously rushing out of the trenches, roaring with bayonets fixed, and charging into the smoke.

But when they turned around, these people were nowhere to be seen.

They only felt that the spreading smoke in front of them was like some terrifying monster, constantly devouring Soldiers.

They could hardly imagine how many Cambrian Soldiers were hidden in this smoke; how could so many people have charged in, yet not even a ripple was made?

"Captain, they are in your hands! May victory always shine upon you!"

Hearing the heavy footsteps and the sound of gears sliding from behind him, a frontline officer quickly saluted behind him, speaking to the leading power-armored Soldier, and looking enviously at the power armor on his body.

If he had a choice, compared to an ordinary Soldier, he would also want to be a Fear Knight!

Wearing such a shell of iron greatly increased his survivability on the battlefield and was also a symbol of honor.

Unfortunately, the selection standards for Fear Knights were extremely strict; only one official Knight was selected out of every ten candidates, and when he applied, he was eliminated purely on the basis of height.

Seeing the officer salute him, the leading Fear Knight returned a slightly frivolous salute and said:

"Don't worry, we will use our swords to teach those bumpkins a good lesson! Long live victory!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he, along with the 12 Fear Knights behind him, quickly leaped out of the trench.

"Not good! Beware of enemy power-armored Soldiers!"

Seeing the red dots on the mini-map, which were larger than other Soldiers, Andrei, who had experience in previous battles, quickly identified what kind of troops these were.

Without much thought, he quickly shouted to the Players at the very front, and at the fastest speed, clicked on research in the system interface.

Before this, Andrei had already set his sights on several elite soldier sets in the battlefield game. Compared to ordinary Soldiers, these elite sets undoubtedly provided a huge combat power bonus.

However, no matter which elite soldier set it was, the research and unlock cost was as high as ten thousand influence points, which made Andrei hesitate.

But after the chaotic battle just now, Andrei's influence points rapidly soared, and had long since exceeded ten thousand.

So, in order to deal with the enemy's power-armored Soldiers, he quickly unlocked the Flame trooper set at the fastest speed.

There were five types of elite soldier set: the Sentry, wearing heavy armor and carrying a heavy machine gun; the Tank Hunter, holding an anti-tank rifle; the Flame trooper, holding a Flame trooper; the Trench Commando, wearing a strange helmet and breastplate, holding a mace; and the Invader, who could summon artillery fire with a flare gun.

Among these elite soldier set, the Flame trooper and Trench Commando were probably the most suitable for dealing with enemy power-armored Soldiers at close range.

The Tank Hunter could certainly penetrate power-armored Soldiers, but which idiot would engage in close combat with a two-meter-long rifle?

The Sentry's machine gun would struggle to penetrate power-armored Soldiers, the Invader's artillery fire could easily blow up everyone present, and the Trench Commando might not be able to defeat the enemy's heavy armor and greatsword setup.

After much deliberation, Andrei felt that the Flame trooper was more reliable.
