Chapter 22: Donate to those in need

“Saifei'er, come here for a moment.” Just then, Fei waved at Saifei'er. After Saifei'er walked over, he paused for a moment before quietly asking with some doubt, “Was it you who stole things from Viscount Brown’s house?”

Fei was currently in a corner of the Adventurers' Guild hall. Since most people had gathered to look at the wanted poster, there was no one near him.

“Ah... ah?” The moment she heard this, Saifei'er’s tail behind her stiffened. She slightly turned her head to look elsewhere, “What stealing? I don’t know…”

However, Fei simply said calmly, “Just tell me the truth. If you didn’t steal it, then it’s fine. If you did, I won’t betray you.”

“Eh?” Saifei'er was stunned. She looked at Fei in surprise. Under normal circumstances, shouldn’t he be saying something accusatory or critical?

Seeing Saifei'er’s reaction, Fei was not surprised at all. He said, “I don’t know that Viscount Brown. What does it have to do with me if he was robbed? But Saifei'er, you are my companion. No matter what happens, isn’t it perfectly normal to stand by your companion?”

“However, just don’t let Ailiya know about you stealing. But she’s very easy to fool; as long as you dare to say it, she’ll dare to believe it.”

Fei’s protective behavior surprised Saifei'er, but she was even more confused, “So how exactly did you know it was me who did it?”

Fei showed a speechless expression. He pointed at Saifei'er’s single-shoulder bag, “Your backpack was just bought yesterday, and it’s full today. Then you asked me about storage rings this morning. Is it that hard to guess?”

Actually, at this point, Fei was already certain that Saifei'er was responsible for the theft. However, when he saw the wanted poster, he couldn't help but feel some doubt again, which was why his tone was initially questioning.

It wasn't until he saw Saifei'er's reaction that he confirmed it again.

Fei asked, “So, why is there such an abstract bounty for a ‘Round-faced, Pointy-Mouthed, Bald Thief’? Were you wearing a mask at the time?”

Saifei'er shook her head, her expression also somewhat bewildered, “I wasn’t wearing a mask. No, no one saw me at all. How did they come up with this portrait?”

“No one saw you?” Hearing this, Fei was even more confused, “Then how did Viscount Brown know he was robbed?”

“Because I left a note.” Then Saifei'er explained the content of her message. After listening, Fei was undoubtedly rendered speechless.

This... is this right? What kind of thief breaks into a house and then leaves a note to mock the owner? If no one found out, taking the things and leaving, wouldn't that be a perfect theft?

No, no, no, Fei immediately realized. What was even more outrageous was that Saifei'er managed to infiltrate Viscount Brown’s mansion, steal everything, and escape without being seen by anyone. How did she manage that?

In any case, this was a viscount’s mansion! There would definitely be a large number of guards patrolling. For an ordinary thief, it should be extremely difficult to even enter the mansion.

Fei couldn't understand, but he was greatly shocked. Could the Catgirl, who usually seemed so dull and clumsy, actually be this formidable!?

After a pause, Fei asked, “So, did you really steal two thousand gold dragons?”

Saifei'er immediately said indignantly, “How is that possible!? My single-shoulder bag can’t even hold two thousand gold dragons, okay? At most, I only took a few hundred. This is slander!”

Fei, “...”

Finally, Saifei'er sighed, “However, now that I have this money, I actually don’t know what to use it for. By the way, does anyone in the team have anything they particularly need or want to buy?”

Fei shook his head, “There’s no need, and setting aside whether we have anything we want, even if we did, it’s probably not available in this city. You should keep this money for yourself.”

As the two were talking, Saifei'er suddenly saw a shabbily dressed commoner enter the Adventurers' Guild. He walked directly to the front desk and started talking to the staff.

The cat ears on her head twitched slightly, and she heard the content of their conversation.

The matter was simple: this person had come to post a quest. His village was near Stone Pine City. Several mad wild boars had rushed into the fields and were wantonly destroying them. Their entire village had pooled some gold dragons to request adventurers to take action and kill those wild boars.

There was nothing strange about this matter itself, but Saifei'er suddenly realized that if she didn't know how to spend this money, she could completely donate it to those in need!

Those poor people who need help!

Anyway, this money was stolen by her, so she wouldn’t feel bad about donating it all. Besides, if it ran out, couldn’t she just take another turn around Viscount Brown’s house?

(Viscount Brown: I really thank you, oh!)

Saifei'er clenched her left fist and pounded her right palm, “I know! I’m going to donate all these hundreds of gold dragons!”

Fei, “???”

Fei was completely bewildered. Saifei'er wasn't the first thief he had known, but before this, all the thieves Fei had encountered could almost be summarized with the words ‘stingy’, ‘selfish’, and ‘untrustworthy’.

But Saifei'er kept refreshing his perception again and again. Fei could sense that Saifei'er’s current words were serious.

If someone had told Fei before this that a thief would donate what he stole to those in need, he would have thought the other person was joking. But now, such a scene was unfolding right before him.

Saifei'er was still very efficient; she acted as soon as she thought of it. However, giving money wasn't just giving it away. She planned to draw a bunch of cat heads, then wrap the gold coins in paper with these special patterns and deliver them to everyone who needed them.

Clearly, this action would greatly increase her ‘fame’. Although no one would know who exactly sent the money, the story of this ‘Cat Head Vigilante’ would certainly become a widely circulated tale that people would talk about with relish!

Saifei'er immediately asked Fei, “Do you have paper and a pen?”

A moment later, looking at the cat head pattern Saifei'er had drawn, Fei was silent for a while, then suddenly said, “I think I know how the title of ‘Round-faced, Pointy-Mouthed, Bald Thief’ came about.”

Because Saifei'er was not a fine arts student in her previous life, nor had she studied anything related to drawing, this cat head was actually drawn very crudely. It was just an oval with two pointy ears, a pair of strange eyes, and that was it. At first glance, it inexplicably gave people a sense of ugly cuteness.
