Chapter 8: Determination

Following Yaka's indication, Yarn saw the rusty sword suddenly vibrate violently, and his heart was instantly startled.

He then hurriedly stepped forward and gripped the sword, immediately feeling a great force repelling him, almost failing to hold the rusty sword, and the shock in his heart grew even stronger.

"Father?"

Yam and Yaka both cried out, but did not dare to rush forward, because they had already seen that the Bloodline Power on their father's body seemed to have begun to manifest externally, clearly showing signs of losing control.

"It's nothing!"

Yarn let out a low growl, then finally stopped suppressing the Bloodline Power within his body, instead unleashing it with full force, completely transforming the rusty sword back into a deep black longsword, like an abyss of ink. Only then could he barely manage to hold the rusty sword.

But from the way Yarn's right hand was still trembling uncontrollably, the two brothers could tell that their father had not truly mastered the sword.

The longer Yarn held the sword, the greater the consumption. Several thoughts flashed through his mind, and he quickly understood some things, so he hurriedly said, "Bring your ice pot!"

The Yam brothers did not dare to underestimate him and hurriedly carried the ice pot in front of Yarn. Yarn then plunged the longsword into the ice pot, and because he used too much force, the not-so-cheap ice pot immediately cracked.

But the family of three no longer cared about the heartache. The liquid in the ice pot instantly turned into a raging Flame, burning upwards along the sword like an inverted waterfall. Even after Yarn let go, the flames continued to burn fiercely. However, strangely, no matter how the flames burned, even melting the ice pot, they did not ignite the entire house.

The shock in Yarn's heart deepened.

He had been a Bloodline User for three years, and during this time, he had naturally continuously explored his own Bloodline Power whenever he had free time. So he was very clear about the Blood Flame ability granted by the Inferno Hound: it was not some ordinary flame; just a tiny bit was enough to turn into a raging inferno, and even ordinary flames, if not large enough, could no longer harm him once his Bloodline ability was activated.

Therefore, logically, when the flames of this Inferno Hound Bloodline secret medicine dripped, his small house should have been ignited.

But now it was completely different from his common sense and understanding, so how could Yarn not be shocked?

...

Robin, residing within the sword, didn't care what Yaen's family was thinking now.

The moment the Inferno Hound Bloodline secret medicine was refined, Robin suddenly felt a tremor. The secret medicine seemed to instantly generate some kind of attraction towards him, causing him to have an urgent desire and need.

However, he had no way to communicate with Yarn and the others, so he could only attract their attention by resonating the sword's vibrations.

Fortunately, Yarn was not a fool and quickly understood Robin's meaning. He then inserted him into the Bloodline secret medicine, allowing him to successfully draw out this Inferno Hound Bloodline secret medicine and incorporate it into the sword body.

"Indeed!"

Looking at the drop of bright red blood bead that appeared before him, faintly emitting a peculiar stench, Robin's face was not as disgusted as when he first saw it.

He gently touched the blood bead with his hand, and the entire drop of blood bead instantly burst open, transforming into thousands of smaller blood-red fragments.

However, nearly half of these fragments were deep red, two-thirds of the other half were light red and pink, and only the remaining one-third was deep black.

That foul odor emanated from this one-third of black fragments.

After a brief thought, Robin had already realized that this one-third of black fragments was some kind of toxin.

But what specific toxin it was and what kind of harm it would cause, he did not understand.

And the other two-thirds of light red and pink were actually not the Bloodline effect of the Inferno Hound. This part seemed to act as a binder to neutralize toxins and Bloodline efficacy, allowing the user to unknowingly integrate this part of toxins and Bloodline efficacy into the user's Bloodline.

In this way, Robin immediately understood why one Bloodline secret medicine could yield ten doses, and why the user had to take them intermittently with stimulating methods. This was entirely to allow this part of the toxin to completely integrate into the user's Bloodline. As for why some people could successfully activate their Bloodline and some could not, it was also because the efficacy of such a secret medicine was only half, and the user only had a 50% chance of success.

"This toxin is absolutely extraordinary!" Robin whispered, "The decline of the Ten Thousand People Bloodline is probably related to the influence of this toxin.... So what happened these past years? And, I was clearly sealed away back then, but later it seems people kept taking me to fight, but why can't I remember these things?"

A sharp pain, in a trance, exploded in Robin's mind.

Several chaotic voices suddenly sounded.

..."Gather..."

"Great sin!"

..."Pity..."

Then the next second, these voices completely became disordered and muddled.

Immediately after, scenes abruptly flashed.

Crossguard, scabbard, four-colored gems, crossguard inlaid with jade, pommel heavy stone...

Eight artifacts flashed one by one in Robin's mind.

Only then did Robin suddenly realize that he had lost several more parts compared to when he was sealed!

The crossguard, the pair of jade stones inlaid on the crossguard, and the counterweight stone at the end of the hilt were all gone. This was much more serious than just losing a scabbard and the four gems on the scabbard, no wonder it was now in such a rusty state.

However, these were not what Robin truly cared about at this moment.

Instead, he suddenly realized that his range of activity seemed not to be limited to being attached inside this sword!

A surge of fervent heat suddenly rose in Robin's heart.

I must find all these components!

...

"Father?" Yaka's face still held a hint of sorrow.

His family had diligently saved money for over a decade, only to concoct this single Inferno Hound Bloodline secret medicine, but they never expected it to all come to naught now. How could he not feel a pang of heartache?

"This is probably fate." Yarn shook his head. "I suddenly became a Bloodline User because of this rusty sword and awakened the Inferno Hound. Now, let's consider this Bloodline secret medicine as repaying a debt.... Later, I will go to the Lord, and in a few years, I should be able to gather enough money for a second secret medicine. It's just..."

At this point, Yarn looked back at Yam, his gaze filled with apology.

Yaka might still be able to wait, but Yam absolutely could not.

He had taken the Violent Bear Bloodline secret medicine in the Kingdom Army, so he naturally knew some of the rules.

Bloodline secret medicine must be taken before the age of twenty-five. If one is over twenty-five, the probability of activation becomes very low, and if one exceeds thirty, it is completely impossible to activate the Bloodline, only to become a true commoner.

Yam was already nineteen this year. It would be difficult to save up for another Bloodline secret medicine within six years, especially since White Mountain Territory was not wealthy.

"It's alright, Father." Yam shook his head.

"Father, look at the sword!" Yaka suddenly exclaimed again, drawing the attention of Yam and Yarn back to the longsword.

At this moment, on the dark sword body, a wisp of flame, like flowing clouds, suddenly appeared.

The Flame Flow was like a thick syrup.

This wisp of Flame Flow, like a fine syrup, slowly flowed down the sword body and re-entered the ice pot, instantly emitting a "sizzle" sound. As white smoke rose, a corner of the ice pot immediately broke off and fell to the ground.

That wisp of Flame Flow was precisely in this corner of the ice pot, emitting a rich fragrance and radiating warmth like the sun.

The father and sons quickly stepped forward and picked up this corner of ice shard.

"Father, the amount isn't enough." Yaka's expression was a bit grim.

He had personally witnessed the amount when the Bloodline secret medicine was successfully brewed. This tile-sized amount, no matter what, was certainly not up to standard.

"Drink it." Yarn pondered for a moment, then handed the tile-sized ice shard to Yam.

Out of trust in his father, Yam did not hesitate at all. He directly tilted his head back and drank the Flame Flow from the ice shard.

He had originally thought his mouth would be scalded and blistered.

But he didn't expect this Flame Flow to be as scalding as he imagined. Instead, it had an endlessly sweet and warm taste. Even after this Flame Flow flowed down his throat, he felt his whole body become hot. He didn't even need to move himself; the blood in his body actually began to boil, his heart began to beat rapidly, and an endless stream of power continuously surged from his heart, then spread to all his limbs and bones.

"Father!" Yam let out a low cry.

Then the next second, he felt an itch in his throat, which finally made him cough.

Immediately after, sparks of fire instantly emerged from his body.

In an instant, they quickly turned into boiling flames.

However, compared to Yarn's body engulfed in flames, Yam did not have such a grand display. Only orange-yellow flames appeared on his hands. But compared to Yarn's situation, the orange-yellow flames on Yam's hands had an astonishing heatwave, forcing Yarn and Yaka to retreat repeatedly. Even the Blood Flame on Yarn's body could not stop this oppressive heatwave.

"Father, I've awakened my Bloodline!" Yam's face showed an expression of disbelief. "But I don't know why, it's not the Inferno Hound, but the Hellfiend Hound. It's also a second-tier Bloodline, but the Bloodline ability is Flame Flow."

As he spoke, Yam turned his hands, palms facing upwards, but between his palms, flames quickly gathered, forming two fireballs the size of a human head.

"The specific effect is probably like this." Yam demonstrated, "I can condense fireballs to throw at enemies, but the distance seems to be affected by my arm strength. Besides that, I can also attach flames to weapons..."

"Hellfiend Hound..." Yarn chewed on the name, then turned his gaze back to the rusty sword. "This sword... is not simple! If others knew about this sword's situation, our whole family would die. This must be kept secret."

Hearing Yarn's words, Yam and Yaka's expressions also became serious.

The two instantly understood the special nature of this rusty sword.

Although Inferno Hound and Hellfiend Hound only had a slight difference in name, it was clear that the manifestation effects of their Bloodline abilities were completely different!

What this implied, the family of three were not fools, and naturally understood very well.

Yarn pulled out the longsword, which had already reverted to its rusty appearance, and then he paused.

"Two."

The corresponding information appeared in his mind.

...

Robin looked at Yam, who had gained the Hellfiend Hound Bloodline ability, and instantly understood.

After he awakened a part of his consciousness, he gained some special authorities, one of which was the ability to purify Bloodlines.

However, currently, he could only purify Bloodline abilities below the third tier. For Bloodlines of the third tier and above, he was temporarily powerless.

Moreover, this purification effect was not without limitations.

In his current state, he could only purify three times.

However, after purifying the Inferno Hound into the Hellfiend Hound, this purification ability was only left with two uses.

In addition, he actually mastered another ability effect, which was that he didn't need to concoct Bloodline secret medicine. As long as he used his sword body to kill enough monsters with Bloodline abilities, he could produce a Bloodline secret medicine through absorption—not the kind of Bloodline secret medicine mixed with toxins that is currently circulated, but a Bloodline secret medicine that could guarantee 100% Bloodline activation.

However, Robin temporarily had no plans to let Yaen's family know about this ability.

He only conveyed the ability and number of times for purifying Bloodline secret medicine, as well as related side effects, to Yarn through message transmission. At the same time, he also pretended to be an inanimate object and conveyed a desire for restoration to Yarn.

...

"We might have to make a trip south." Yarn took a deep breath, then slowly said, "This rusty sword is missing many parts. Currently, it senses that one part is in the south, so we might have to go south."

Yarn explained the information he had learned from Robin to his two sons.

"So, we can make two more Hellfiend Hound Bloodline secret medicines? But the Bloodline secret medicine produced in this way cannot be passed down to descendants?"

"Yes." Yarn nodded, "However, if the person who obtains this Bloodline ability dies, if the Bloodline Power can be recovered, then one more production chance can be obtained."

"This might... No!" Yaka immediately shook his head as soon as he spoke, "This is our family's chance to become Bloodline Nobles!"

"Therefore, we must go south. Besides looking for the missing parts of this sword, we can also make a detour to Red Soil Territory to make another Bloodline secret medicine for Yaka."
