Chapter 158: Dol Guldur

"Puchi!" Iovia casually pulled the scimitar out of the chest of an orc who was trying to launch a sneak attack.

"We're here! The old fortress!" Vanerwei's eyes were filled with eagerness. Not far ahead, a dark city covered with tree roots and thorns appeared in front of everyone.

"Amon Lance...our home!" There was a faint light glimmering in Thranduil's eyes.

"Everyone keep up! Don't fall behind!" The dragon slayer Bard drew out his longbow and carefully observed his surroundings. The dark jungle always made him feel extremely depressed!

"Be alert! Be ready to attack and counterattack at any time!" Bai Yi shuttled through the crowd with a large shield. He kept patting the coalition soldiers who stopped, telling them not to just marvel at the grandeur of the elven city, but also to pay attention to the attacks that might come at any time.

"Archers at the rear! Rangers in the middle! Warriors in the front! Knights, follow me! Don't panic!" Roland growled as he looked at the dense jungle around him.

The dense tree trunks obviously hindered the soldiers' assembly. The places where they should have formed a formation were often blocked by tree trunks. This caused gaps and holes in the soldiers' square and circular formations during movement. Although no major accidents were caused, many people were ambushed and injured.

"Form a formation!" Suddenly, a few low calls were heard from the front.

Dozens of dwarves who were exploring the way ahead raised their large shields to form a tight double-layer shield wall. The few low-quality iron arrows that attacked could only hit the shield wall and make crisp clanging sounds.

"Counterattack!" The elven ranger following behind them immediately hid behind the shield wall, drew his bow and arrow and shot towards the approximate direction where the enemy was hiding.

"Ah!" A shrill wail was heard, and it was obvious that an unlucky guy was hit by an arrow. Judging from the lively sound and the strong breath, it seemed that the arrow did not hit the vital part. However, after the elves fired another round, the orc was silent.

"Rain of arrows!"

The coalition generals, who had suffered a great loss in this regard, obviously had no intention of advancing again. They commanded the archers and rangers to pour firepower here.

"Alright! No more survivors! Retrieve the arrows, let's go!" Van Erwei said coldly, folding his arms. His mental power had already spread out, investigating for a long time. Aside from the orcs who had just hidden behind the tree, there were no other living creatures. As for why Van Erwei didn't kill them? What a joke! A few harmless orcs weren't enough to warrant a sixth-level attack.

"Gather the troops! We are too close to Dol Guldur. It's useless to hide our whereabouts on such a large-scale march!" Roland said to the senior leaders of the coalition forces.

Now the soldiers of the coalition forces are scattered over a distance of several square kilometers. They are too dispersed as a whole. Once the sixth-level combat power is entangled, the enemy can send out a team of cavalry to cause terrible damage to the coalition forces. You must know that even ordinary knights dare not underestimate the wolf cavalry of the orcs!

“Beep, beep, beep!”

“Woo woo woo!”

The trumpets of various tribes in the coalition army sounded together. The coalition soldiers who heard the trumpets quickly moved towards the place where the sounds came from, as spectacular as a river flowing into the sea. In less than a moment, the entire forest was filled with soldiers.

"Melee professionals are in the front! Rangers support on both wings, and archers are in the middle! Spellcasters are in the rear! Cavalry roam around on their own, but don't go too far!" Omsk took the command without hesitation. In terms of combat proficiency and multi-arms coordinated operations, Omsk should be the best here.

"What a great opportunity! It's a pity that Peter Gro didn't come, otherwise it would have been great to cover it with dragon language magic first!" Roland said regretfully as he looked at the Dol Guldur Fortress standing quietly there. It was obvious that the Ringwraiths had no intention of leaving the city to fight. From where Roland was, he couldn't see a single Orc soldier on the city wall. It was obvious that they were ready for street fighting with the coalition forces.

"They gave up the outer city wall? Great! Attack immediately!" Thranduil's sharp eyes immediately saw through the strengths and weaknesses of the city wall.

"No! Thranduil! You can't be so careless!" Roland grabbed Thranduil's arm armor.

"What's wrong?" Thranduil was puzzled.

"It's better to proceed steadily. They may not let us cross the city wall so easily. They may be lying in ambush in the dark! Don't forget, the evil camp has occupied this place for many years. They have enough arrangements to interfere with our mental detection! Don't be blinded by your mental power! What's more, there are three Ringwraiths hiding here! Don't forget the tragedy of King Eovian!" Roland's light shout immediately made Thranduil shudder.

Iovia calmly gazed at the quiet, lifeless city, his clenched fists revealing his inner excitement. This was a battle of revenge! The elves, formerly adept at agile attacks, were being toyed with in their strongest area. This was a disgrace not only to Iovia but also to all the star elves.

"We will kill them all!" Iovia snorted coldly, and the sharp scimitar in her hand stabbed people's eyes, causing pain.

"Of course! But we don't need to pay a heavy price for these dying people, right?" Roland reminded the two Elf Kings who were a little angry. As for Vanerwei? He didn't bring any troops with him, so why bother with him?

In Roland's eyes, high-end combat forces would not die quickly even if they were courting death. As long as they received timely support from their own side, it would be a small problem. However, once the majority of ordinary soldiers were sent out in a fit of rage, it would be difficult to bring them back. They would either annihilate the enemy or cut off their rear to survive. It was impossible to expect most of them to retreat intact. These ordinary soldiers precisely determined the life and death of an entire race. The weak population base of the elves was due to the difficulty in reproduction caused by their long lifespan on the one hand, and the fact that once the elves' army, which was full of personal heroism, were sent out on the battlefield, the final casualties might take thousands of years to make up.

"It's always better to be careful! King Eowia! King Thranduil! Think about the few people of the two races!" The dwarf leader Balin also stood up. Compared with the elves, the stubborn dwarves had a harder time. After going through several hardships, their population was not much larger than that of the elves. With the mentality of "the more the better", although the dwarves were not afraid of dying fighting evil, it would be better if they could reduce the losses.

"I agree!" Bud raised his hand.

"Me too!" Bai Yi raised his sword to make his presence felt.

The Kingdom of Akvia and the Kingdom of Dale are even more representative of the "no man's land". One was destroyed by Smaug and then fought the Battle of Five Armies, and the other was expelled by the orcs and then fought the Battle of Lonely Mountain. Both forces were unwilling to lose too much combat power.

"This battle will be tough. We need to proceed steadily. Don't forget! Orc reinforcements could be waiting behind us to deliver a fatal blow! All we have to do is deny them any opportunity!" Roland had no objection. Just kidding! The Knights! The Royal Guards! El Nino Ranger! Each of them is priceless. Roland's heart would be crushed into a piece of paper if just one of them died.

"That's it..." Seeing everyone's reaction, Iovia and Thranduil had no choice but to agree.

"Attack!" Omsk raised his lance and pointed it at the abyss-like Dol Guldur in front of him. The dark old fortress was like a huge mouth waiting to swallow up this elite expeditionary force!
