Chapter 40: Smaug's Legacy

Looking at the El Nino Rangers who had already entered their respective roles, Roland suddenly remembered that he still had a good treasure in his hands.

"Boom!" On the open space outside the city, a golden-red shadow fell heavily to the ground, and a smell of sulfur filled the air.

"Look, I almost forgot about the 141-meter-long Smaug!" Roland clapped his hands and turned to look at the stunned crowd.

Even though everyone was used to seeing Kaldor, over 15 meters long, soaring overhead constantly, a dragon this large was practically unique. A full-grown dragon typically measures around 30 meters... Smaug, at 141 meters! He had lost his dragon language magic in exchange for unparalleled strength and melee ability.

(Giant Dragon: What? A flying dragon species has to resist dragon language magic?)

(El Nino Ranger: Huh? Are all flying dragons this inflated now?)

"Oh my! What great stuff! Your Highness, why didn't you take it out earlier?" Radil ran over with a smile. For the wizards who pursue the truth of magic, any part of the dragon is a precious material.

"Caslo, Renault, you two should take your men and pluck all his dragon scales and skins! These dragon scales and dragon skins are excellent materials for protective gear." Roland rubbed his hands excitedly. It is true that slaying a dragon will make you rich, and you will be richer if you keep slaying dragons.

"Ah! What a big dragon!" Ivy ran behind Radil as if frightened.

"By the way, all the dragon teeth must be pulled out! They can be used to make weapons!" Roland added.

"Dragon wings are top-grade material for magic cloaks. Don't cut them and waste them." Radil used the earth element to condense an elemental blade and personally cut the dragon wing membrane.

"Longan! The longan has to be picked off too! The inspection eye made from such a large longan must have a very large detection range!" After the panic just now, the lovely Pastor Ivy also became lively and gave instructions to everyone.

"Be careful! Don't cut yourself! Dragon blood is very expensive!" Kaslo drove away the clumsy knight and carefully pried up the dragon scales himself.

"Reverse scale! Reverse scale! Don't forget to find his reverse scale!" Roland thought of the noblest scale on the body of the true dragon, the reverse scale with magical power!

"Bucket! Bucket! It's cut here! Bring me a bucket to collect the blood!" Renault screamed. The hard dragon scales were embedded in the thick dragon skin. Renault took a lot of effort to pry up a few pieces of dragon scales, but he accidentally used too much force and the boiling hot dragon blood seeped out.

"Here it comes! Here it comes! The sir's barrel is here!" The Badaniyan archer who had been waiting on the side quickly handed over the wooden barrel.

"Damn it! Don't open the skull!" Radil cursed when he saw the Badanian archer holding a chisel and swinging the great mithril armor-breaking hammer to break the brain and take out the crystal. He snatched the armor-breaking hammer away, but the weight of the hammer head made his body tilt and his old waist made a crisp cracking sound.

"Prodigal son! You can't get dragon crystal like this! You have to peel the skin and remove the meat, then dig it out from the hole in the bone!" Radil rubbed his waist and grinned.

"No! Don't pull out that arrow!" Roland shouted hurriedly when he saw an El Nino ranger trying to take out the black arrow that had penetrated the dragon's heart.

"If you pull out the arrow, blood will gush out of your heart! Find a basin! All of you work together to pull it out! Don't waste it! This body is covered with golden coins!" Roland commanded.

"Hey there! Go get some fellow villagers to bring some big saws!" Caslo spat in his palm and planned to use Smaug's sharp claws.

"The ones above! Be steady when cutting the flesh and draining the blood! Watch out for the dragon tendons! Whether our archers can use dragon string bows in the future depends on how steady your hands are! If anyone breaks the dragon tendons, I will pull out his tendons to make the bowstring!" Roland inspected everyone's work with a heartless pace.

Watching the crowd, filled with enthusiastic and passionate gay love, Kaslo's four-legged dragon, Cardo, cast a sympathetic glance at Smaug's corpse. Then he turned his head and looked around. While no one was paying attention, he quietly moved to the side... This place was terrifying! They looked at Smaug's remains like a pile of treasure, the kind that would hold its value! Cardo shuddered. He couldn't understand why, as a dragon, he could completely ignore the temperature of dozens of degrees below zero, yet at this moment he felt an inexplicable chill... Humans were terrifying...

"Oh my god! This dragon tendon is so long! Pull it out for me! How many bowstrings can be made from over a hundred meters of dragon tendon!" Roland exclaimed.

In the end, Cardo still couldn't escape the clutches of Roland and his group. At this moment, he was cautiously walking out with a rope on his back. The other end of the rope was tightly tied to a dragon tendon as thick as a human head...

"Tsk tsk tsk, this dragon bone is pretty good!" Old man Radil tapped the exposed ribs happily. The dull sound sounded so pleasant in his ears.

"Sir Radil, what other uses does this dragon bone have besides making equipment?" Roland asked curiously.

"Hahaha, Your Highness, once you gain the loyalty of Lagrande's pharmacists or alchemists, you will understand that dragon bones are an important ingredient in countless alchemical items and potions!" Radil explained to Roland while stroking his beard.

"Hey, hey, hey! Break off the thorns on it! Polish it smooth and it will become an armor-piercing gun!" Renault discovered the missing thorns on the dragon's tail.

And so, in less than half a day, Comrade Smaug, once the mighty ruler of Lonely Mountain, had successfully contributed to Comrade Roland's development. Rumor has it that Smaug's legacy even served him well in the founding of his nation years later. It's hard not to wonder why warriors have always been so keen on slaying dragons. It's incredibly lucrative! The wealth of a single dragon could easily support an entire clan!

"There are several thousand scales as big as washbasins, nearly a hundred bundles of cut dragon skins, sixty-four dragon teeth of various sizes, a dragon crystal the size of a washbasin, seven dragon tendons, twenty claws, a pile of dragon meat, and a hundred buckets of dragon blood!" Roland counted the various harvests while storing them in the system.

"A sudden wave of wealth!" Roland exclaimed. At some point just now, he even secretly glanced at Kaslo's flying dragon. It turns out that slaying dragons and making a fortune is really addictive!

"Isn't there a lava forge in the city? We can process dragon scales into armor!" Roland said with great enthusiasm. In his mind, he seemed to see Lagran soldiers wearing dragon leather armor and dragon scale armor roaming all over Lovanion.

"Your Highness, we don't have the strength to equip magical equipment yet..." In fact, Ladir quickly poured cold water on him. Because at the moment, Stream City lacked any other rare materials for forging besides the basic lava forge. Besides, it would be better to find a way to complete Stream City's walls than to waste time on currently unnecessary magical equipment.

"Ah... I get it," Roland said dejectedly. He was still too naive. Possessing a huge fortune was a good thing, but unfortunately Roland currently didn't have the ability to cash it out...
