Chapter 61: The trumpet of the north

"Woo~Woo~" The loud sound of the dwarf's horn resounded throughout the entire city of Ilubor.

"War is coming!" King Bard of Valley City frowned. Among these northern forces, Bard's strength is the weakest. With his population, it is difficult for him to recruit 300 human soldiers. He is definitely the one who least wants war to happen.

"Bain! You stay in the city to take care of your mother and the others. I'm going to Iluber now." Bard packed up his luggage and hurriedly rode his horse to Iluber.

"Thorin! What happened? Why was the Horn of the Lonely Mountain blown?" Led by the dwarf guards, Bard met Thorin Oakenshield who was standing on the city wall and looking out.

"The orcs are coming!" Thorin sighed.

"Wandering orcs from the north?" Bard asked in confusion.

"It's not clear yet. Our soldiers have only detected a large army of northern orcs heading towards Erebor. It's not certain whether they are orcs from Gunbada." Thorin said with a headache.

"Can't you tell their totems?" Bud couldn't help but ask.

"They put away their totems and flags, and there's no clue at all. You know, Roland and his men just had a fight with the Waste Orcs in the east, so we can't be sure whether these orcs are from the Waste Orcs in the north or from the Fortress of Gunbaddar." Thorin sighed. Now the orcs will seek external help. If all the orcs could come out in full force during the First Battle of Lonely Mountain, Thorin and Roland and his men would have no chance in the north now.

"What should we do?" Bud was silent for a moment before speaking.

"I have sent a message for help to Dain in Iron Hill. They should arrive before the orcs." Thorin looked at Bard and said.

"What about the woodland elves?" Bard couldn't help but ask.

"Bard... you should understand the conflict between the woodland elves and the dwarves of Lonely Mountain..." Thorin sighed helplessly. The sensitive dwarf king really couldn't bring himself to ask his former enemy for reinforcements.

"My God! Thorin, you are ruining the entire battle! If you don't want to go find the elves, then I will go!" Bard couldn't believe it. He had a deeper understanding of the stubbornness of the dwarves. Even at this point, they were still as stubborn as a stone in a cesspool.

After Bard finished speaking, he hurried down the city wall without waiting for Thorin to speak, mounted his skinny horse and left Erebor.

"Balin! Go find Roland and explain the situation." Thorin guessed that Roland had also heard the horn of Lonely Mountain and decided to go and inform Roland. If Roland was caught off guard and attacked by the orcs, it would be a lot of fun.

"Oh! Your Highness, I don't think we need to look for Roland." Balin raised his eyes, glanced at the sky, and spoke immediately.

"Um?"

"He's come to find us!" Balin's eyes signaled Thorin to look at the sky.

"Roar!" The low roar of a flying dragon rolled in, and Kaslo, riding the recovered Cardo, brought Roland and landed on the top of the city wall of Iluber.

"Hey! Thorin! Balin!" Roland, who was skilled and brave, jumped directly from the dragon's back without waiting for the dragon to stop.

"Oh! I'm so glad to see you, King Roland!" Thorin smiled and opened his arms.

"Hello, respected King Raglan, Bahrain salutes you!" Bahrain bowed and saluted.

"Nice to see you!" Roland smiled, bent down and hugged Thorin, then helped Balin up.

"Now tell me why the Horn of the Lonely Mountain was blown? Don't you know that the sound scared King Whitewing, King Eovian, and me? Is it an attack by orcs?" Roland spoke like a machine gun.

"It's about the orcs. We have already started preparing for war." Thorin pulled Roland to a map.

"This is the Grey Mountains! A large army of orcs is heading south from here! They have put away their flags and emblems, and we don't know if they are the orcs from Gunbaddar Fortress." Thorin was troubled by the identity of this group of orcs.

"What about their weapons and equipment?" Roland asked after carefully looking at the map.

"You know, the orcs in the north are well-equipped!" Thorin shrugged helplessly, indicating that judging the orcs in the north by their equipment was not a good idea. After all, the orcs in the north of Middle-earth still had the advantage.

"Then we can only prepare for battle with all our strength." Roland said helplessly.

"Yeah, this feeling is really uncomfortable..." Thorin angrily smashed his fist on the city wall.

"I'm sorry, Thorin, I may have to rely on you for this battle. We don't have the ability to fight on two fronts..." Although he didn't want to say it, Roland had to admit that he didn't have the ability to open up two battlefields. In fact, if it weren't for the arrival of the 1,500 Swiftstream Infantrymen who gave Roland some confidence, Roland even planned to join forces with Bai Yi and others to defend a city.

"My friend, I understand your difficulties..." Thorin sighed. He knew that the situation in the south might be even worse. After all, the pale orc Azog was no match for his son.

"Be careful... I'm going back to River Rapids first." After a moment of silence in the depressing atmosphere, Roland waved goodbye.

"This battle is not going to be easy..." Thorin murmured as he watched the flying dragon fly away.

"So we won't participate in this war in the north?" Bai Yi couldn't help but ask.

"Participate! But I don't have the ability to change the situation!" Iovia frowned and thought a lot before speaking.

"It seems we have the same idea!" Roland raised his head and smiled at Iovia.

"So what are you guys talking about?" Van Erwei couldn't help but complain as he sat on the chair and watched them making faces.

"Iovia and I both want to send our air knights to join the battle. That way, if anything happens in the south, they can rush back quickly, right? Iovia." Roland glanced at the silent Star Elf King.

"Yes, I think so too. First of all, it would be unreasonable not to help them, but if we help them, we don't have enough troops. But dragon knights and flying dragon knights will not be a problem. They are both combat-capable and convenient for returning to support." Iovia was very satisfied with this plan.

"Okay, let's do it. After all, it's impossible for our soldiers to expose the civilians to the orcs and go to the north to join the war. If I dare to give such an order, the people will overthrow me." Bai Yi said self-deprecatingly.

"Whatever you say is fine. I don't have time for knights anyway!" The countryman Van Erwei said that the forces of you local tycoons are too high-end. Besides the rangers, I only have archers and a few rare assassins at best. What else can I say...

"That's it, then. Keep an eye on the northern battlefield. Please take care of the orcs in Dolgoldo Fortress." Roland said to Bai Yi and Iovia.

"Hahaha! Don't worry, I won't let the orcs get to the city of Rapids." Bai Yi laughed.
