Chapter 2: Superpowers and Choice Spirits

After Wang Luo got off at the bus stop, what greeted his eyes was a scene completely different from the city.

There were no tall buildings here, only vast grasslands, rolling hills, and a winding river at the foot of the hills.

The suburbs were a concentrated area for agriculture and animal husbandry related to Pokémon, such as Tauros and Mareep farms, Beedrill breeding bases, and various berry orchards.

His home was at the foot of a hill, with an Oran Berry orchard established on the back hill.

Oran Berries were one of the most basic berries, used to restore a Pokémon's energy, and also raw materials for many Pokémon foods and energy cubes.

However, their value was not high; the more valuable items in the orchard were a few Sitrus Berry trees, which were equivalent to Oran Berries with better effects.

It was already evening when he got home, and the lights were on in Wang Luo's two-story house.

“Xiao Luo, you’re back! Hurry and wash your hands for dinner, honey, today we have your favorite braised pork ribs.”

As soon as he entered the door, he heard his mom, Zhang Xiuning's, gentle voice coming from the kitchen.

Wang Luo felt a surge of emotion; thankfully, his parents hadn't changed, otherwise, how could he accept it?

“Alright!”

Wang Luo composed himself, put down his backpack, and went into the kitchen to help his mom carry dishes, placing the braised pork ribs on the living room table, when he suddenly felt something touch his thigh.

“Lotad, Lotad.”

A Pokémon with a lotus leaf on its head raised its paw and greeted Wang Luo.

It was about 1.2 meters tall, entirely greenish-blue, and its eyes looked a bit dull.

This was Wang Luo's Mom's Pokémon, Lombre, a Water-type and Grass-type Pokémon.

“Hello, Lombre.”

Wang Luo smiled and greeted Lombre, reaching out to pet it.

This thing was really exciting.

Actually, he had considered catching a Lotad as his Starter Pokemon, especially since its final evolution, Ludicolo, was an important member of a rain team.

However, Lotad with the Swift Swim ability were too rare, and they had little combat power before evolving into Ludicolo, while the Water Stone needed for evolution cost hundreds of thousands, which Wang Luo couldn't afford in the short term, so he had to give up.

“Lotad, Lotad, Lotad ~ Lotad.”

Hearing Wang Luo's response, Lombre excitedly cried out a few more times.

“Is that so? Lombre not only watered all the fruit trees today but also chased away a Rattata? That’s great!”

“Lotad, Lotad.” Lombre nodded proudly.

Lombre was Wang Luo's Mom's Pokémon, with a gentle nature, responsible for looking after the Growth of the Oran Berry and Sitrus Berry trees.

As a Grass-type and Water-type Pokémon, it was perfectly suited for the job.

Although humans had achieved peaceful coexistence with Pokémon and could understand some of the information Pokémon conveyed, it was still unrealistic to fully comprehend a Pokémon's emotions and language.

The reason Wang Luo could understand them was that his Psychic power had greatly improved after his transmigration, awakening a part of his Psychic abilities, but he was still far from being a beginner Psychic.

Since the Pokémon Secret Realm appeared in this world, some of the energy from the Secret Realm flowed into the human world, greatly improving human physical fitness.

Psychics, martial artists, bug manipulators, and even dragon manipulators had awakened their powers.

Although Wang Luo's Psychic abilities were still weak, he was content.

He didn't plan to build a Psychic team (mainly because he had no money; Psychic Pokémon were even more expensive than Starter Pokemon), nor did he want to confront Psychic Pokémon head-on like Sabrina, so why bother with a bicycle?

Wang Luo's Mom walked into the living room, carrying the last bowl of soup, and smiled with relief when she saw how well Wang Luo and Lombre got along.

“Alright, Xiao Luo, don’t just play with Lombre, hurry and sit down to eat.”

After Wang Luo sat down, he asked curiously, “Aren’t we waiting for Dad?”

“You go ahead and eat.

The Oran Berries are starting to ripen now, and the orchard is quite busy.

Your dad should be back later.”

No sooner had she spoken than Wang Luo's father, Wang Yi, opened the door and walked in, followed by a Graveler.

It had a round, stony body with four arms.

As Wang Luo's father's Pokémon, Graveler was excellent at plowing fields and chasing away Pidgey and Butterfree that stole berries.

Wang Luo's Dad washed his hands and sat across from Wang Luo, while Graveler, being a quiet and steady Pokémon, silently walked over to Lombre and began eating its Pokémon food.

“Have you decided which Pokémon you’re going to choose tomorrow?” Wang Luo's father asked in a calm voice.

“Yes, I prefer Water-type Pokémon, so I plan to choose a Poliwag.”

Upon hearing this, his mother's face showed a hint of worry: “Xiao Luo, Poliwag… it’s just a common Pokémon.

Do you want to reconsider?

You don't need to worry about money; your father and I will handle it.”

His father gently patted his mother's hand and then turned to Wang Luo, his eyes filled with affection and a touch of guilt: “Xiao Luo, we aren't Trainers, so we won't say much about choosing a Pokémon.

We're just worried that common Pokémon often require more resources and effort to raise…”

At this point, his father's voice trembled slightly, clearly feeling guilty that he might not be able to give Wang Luo the best support.

Seeing this, Wang Luo quickly comforted them: “Dad, Mom, you don’t have to worry.

Common Pokémon can also become very strong.

I will work hard!”

Hearing this, his father also let out a sigh of relief.

He took a bank card from his pocket and placed it on the table, saying with firm eyes, “Xiao Luo, this is two hundred thousand.

Take it to buy and raise your Pokémon.

You've grown up; you can make your own decisions now.”

His mother also nodded in agreement: “Yes, Xiao Luo, we will always be your strongest support.”

Wang Luo's eyes were a little moist.

He knew that these two hundred thousand could be said to be most of his parents' savings.

All he could do was not disappoint them.

He believed that with his understanding of Pokémon from his previous life, even raising common Pokémon wouldn't be worse than others.

After dinner, Wang Luo went straight back to his room on the second floor to rest.

He lay in bed, unable to fall asleep for a long time, but he had to get up early the next day to go to the breeding house, so he forced himself to sleep.

In his dream, he seemed to see himself leading his rain team Pokémon, overcoming challenges all the way, ascending to the Champion's throne, and representing China in competitions against Trainers from other countries.

The next day, Wang Luo woke up early and washed up, nodding with satisfaction at his handsome reflection in the mirror.

He was quite handsome at eighteen.

Afterward, he took the earliest bus to the city and accurately found the location of the Binhe City Breeding House.

The Breeding House was located in the most prosperous area of Binhe City.

Here, there were not only several Pokémon Breeding Houses but also various Pokémon stores, Pokémon department stores, Pokémon fitness centers, and so on.

Pidgeotto flew back and forth in the sky delivering takeout, a Magnemite in a roadside barbecue shop was supplying power to the electric grill, and several Rattata ran around in the alleys, truly a world where Pokémon and humans lived together.

After Wang Luo entered a breeding house, a sales assistant, a young woman around twenty years old, walked up to him.

The sales assistant said with a polite smile, “Welcome! Are you looking to purchase a Starter Pokemon? We have both Pokémon eggs and young Pokémon here.”

Wang Luo thought for a moment and said, “Take me to see the young Pokémon, preferably Water-type.”

Although raising a Pokémon from an egg would greatly increase the bond between Trainer and Pokémon, young Pokémon allowed for observation of their potential.

Wang Luo had limited funds, so it was better to be cautious.

“Alright, please follow me.”

He closely followed the sales assistant into a corridor, with newly hatched young Pokémon on both sides.

There were Meowth, Sandshrew, Magnemite, Vulpix, Weedle, Venonat, and Wang Luo even saw a Cyndaquil.

This was a genuine Starter Pokemon, but unfortunately, it was rather small and thin, with not very good potential.

Ever since he entered the corridor, Wang Luo's eyes hadn't stopped moving.

They were just too cute.

He strongly resisted the urge to pet them and quickly followed the sales assistant's steps.

Turning right at the end of the corridor led to the Water-type Pokémon living area.

Here, there was a large pond, with a grassy area and a few small rockeries by its side.

Several Poliwag were playing in the pond, while Goldeen and Magikarp swam freely beneath the surface.

Several lotus leaves floated on the water, which were Lotad, making tears of happiness flow from the corners of Wang Luo's mouth.

There was even a Slowpoke basking in the sun on the grass, though it was even dumber than a typical Slowpoke.
