Chapter 164 Physical Bodhisattva
Was the monk dug out from the fields?
Pinggong Qianye had seen many stories and legends along the way, and at this moment he couldn't help but be attracted by the story told by the host.
"Monk from afar, I am not kidding. That crazy monk was indeed dug out from the field."
The host spoke with great confidence, sighed and continued: "Buddhist disciples never lie, how dare I joke about such a thing?"
"Host, I don't doubt your meaning."
Pinggong Chiye explained, showed a listening attitude, and signaled the host to continue.
……
Daikyo Village is a rural village under the jurisdiction of Kyoto. Because there are many temples in Kyoto, monks often come here to preach.
The villagers have always been respectful to the monks and have never overstepped the boundaries.
One day, Tobishima Daquan of the Tobishima family was cultivating the land in the field and wanted to grow some rice.
Because the land in the field is not flat and not big, and there are many stones buried deep underground, it is not suitable for machine farming.
They could only use relatively primitive hoes to cultivate the land piece by piece.
Feidao Daquan was a strong man, and reclaiming land was not a big deal for him.
But that afternoon, Feidao Daquan was digging the ground with a hoe as usual. As soon as he started digging, he felt something was wrong with his hand.
It seemed like I had dug up something, but it wasn't a hard object like stone. On the contrary, it was soft, like the meat of some animal.
Feidao Daquan immediately realized that something was wrong, so he temporarily stopped farming and dug up the nearby soil.
Blood, strands of blood seeped out from the soil.
The color and smell of that blood were very much like human blood.
Feidao Daquan felt his scalp tingling instantly, and he quickly called out to the villagers in the nearby fields to come and help.
After a brief discussion, they decided to dig up the soil around to get a clearer look.
After several people worked together to dig out a pit, the bleeding object inside gradually became apparent.
It was a shriveled corpse sitting cross-legged, with a layer of flesh almost sticking to the surface of the bones, and he also had extremely long and messy hair.
He should be dead, but he seems to be still alive.
The reason why the blood was flowing was that Feidao Daquan's hoe hit his right shoulder, leaving a deep wound.
Blood, bright red blood was flowing out of the wound.
This scene seemed extremely weird and terrifying.
Buried deep underground, he was clearly dead, not breathing, and his heart had stopped beating.
However, his body did not turn into a pile of bones. Instead, it was covered with a layer of flesh and skin and had long hair growing on it, as if it contained a certain vitality and even shed bright red blood.
This is not a normal corpse at all!
Someone immediately knelt down and kowtowed to avoid being retaliated against for disturbing the corpse.
Soon, this incident alarmed the entire village.
An old man in the village came over and took a few looks, and concluded that this should be the physical body of a great monk who had passed away.
This is a Bodhisattva in the flesh!
It is the relics of the whole body!
Young people do not understand the meaning of these words, so the elderly can only give them detailed knowledge about this.
In Buddhism, the body of a monk who has reached a high level of practice remains intact for many years after his death. This phenomenon is called "incorruptible body" or "whole body relics."
This state refers to the practitioner's immortal physical body, that is, the flesh body is incorruptible and lifelike, and is revered as "Bodhisattva in the flesh" or "whole body relics."
Some people asked whether the appearance of such a flesh-and-blood Buddha in the fields was a good thing or a bad thing?
"Of course it's a good thing! This is a good omen!"
The old man answered confidently, and knelt down, worshiping the Buddha in the flesh devoutly.
Later, they took the Bodhisattva's flesh and blood back and planned to build a temple to enshrine it.
They firmly believe that this living Buddha can protect their village and bring good weather and abundant wealth.
But a temple cannot be built in one day. After some discussion, the villagers decided to let Feidao Daquan bring the flesh-and-blood Buddha back home and worship it temporarily.
Of course Feidao Daquan was unwilling to do so. He felt that this was not a very auspicious thing, and his wife was already pregnant.
But he couldn't refuse.
Because that piece of field belonged to him, he was the first to discover the living Buddha, and it was he who injured the shoulder of the living Buddha with his hoe, causing so much blood to flow.
If you don't make sincere apology to the Buddha in the flesh soon, you will definitely be punished in the future!
Many people say so.
Thinking that his child was about to be born, Feidao Daquan was really worried that some retribution would really befall his unborn child.
Therefore, the king of Feidao could only agree to bring this living Buddha back to his home for worship. His wife was gentle and virtuous, and did not blame him for this. On the contrary, his wife worshipped this living Buddha devoutly.
Not only did she comb the messy hair of a flesh-and-blood Buddha, she also cleaned the Buddha's body a little and made a new set of robes for the Buddha.
Everything is meticulous and impeccable.
After hearing the news about the living Buddha, villagers from nearby villages often came to Feidao Daquan's home to offer food and money.
This alone has greatly improved the living standards of Feidao Daquan's family.
Feidao Daquan was also very pleased with this, and his fear of the Bodhisattva in the flesh gradually dissipated.
In the blink of an eye, it was the day when Feidao Daquan's wife was due to give birth.
Originally, Feidao Daquan intended to send his wife to a large hospital in the city to give birth.
But one night when it was raining heavily, his wife suddenly felt severe abdominal pain and showed signs of giving birth.
In order to ensure that his wife could give birth smoothly, Feidao Daquan invited two experienced midwives from nearby to deliver the baby in the heavy rain overnight.
That night, there were thunder and lightning and rumbling sounds.
The rain was extremely heavy, a rain that only happens once in a century in Dajing Village.
The water in the village spread into the houses.
Feidao Daquan didn't care about the heavy rain, but anxiously waited outside the delivery room, waiting for the birth of his child.
However, the only sounds coming from the delivery room were the painful sounds of my wife giving birth and the two midwives' anxious and worried discussions.
The situation seems to be bad.
Outside, Feidao Daquan, who was unable to help much, knelt in front of the living Buddha, kowtowed heavily, and prayed to the living Buddha to bless his wife to get through this smoothly.
After about ten minutes, the noise in the delivery room seemed to stop.
Just as Feidao Daquan got up and walked outside the delivery room, the door of the delivery room was pushed open, and two midwives came out of the room with fear on their faces, and almost tripped.
"What's going on?" Feidao Daquan asked anxiously.
"Child, child..."
The two midwives opened their mouths, but before they could finish their words, they quickly left in the heavy rain.
Feidao Daquan rushed into the delivery room. The scene inside scared him so much that he woke up many times in the middle of the night and could not fall asleep peacefully.
His wife did give birth successfully, but what she gave birth to was not a healthy child, but a group of little monks the size of a little finger, wearing robes and Buddhist beads.
There are a lot, definitely more than a hundred little monks!
Some of them sat cross-legged on blood-stained bedding and discussed scriptures and preached the Dharma, some chanted "Amitabha", and some crawled in front of their wives and scared them to death.
Some had already jumped out of bed and were walking towards the door of the delivery room...
Feidao Daquan didn’t know how to describe his feelings at the time. He stayed there for a long time before he hurried to check on his wife.
Fortunately, he just fainted.
Feidao Daquan quickly called an ambulance and shouted to nearby neighbors to come and help.
As for the group of young monks, he really didn't know how to deal with them.
His own children are gone, and have become this group of little monks.
In other words, these little monks are his children!
Haha, what is this?
A group of Buddhas or a group of beans?
Is this the beginning of a horror story?
Or is it the price one has to pay for injuring a living Buddha with a hoe?
Or is this the curse brought by the Bodhisattva in the flesh?
Fear, terror, anger...all kinds of emotions accumulated in my heart, like a fire burning.
If his wife was not still in a coma, with her life or death uncertain, Feidao Daquan would definitely chop the so-called Buddha in the flesh into pieces with his own hands!
Finally, with the help of the neighbors, Feidao Daquan's wife was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.
After that night, the little monks that were born were secretly stolen by many people and taken back home.
Feidao Daquan had no objection to this act which was almost stealing.
After learning that his wife had survived the danger, Feidao Daquan picked up the hoe in his home and prepared to smash the flesh-and-blood Buddha with one hoe.
He firmly believed that all the misfortunes that had happened in his family during this period were the curse brought by the living Buddha!
That is not a Bodhisattva in the flesh at all, but the incarnation of some demon or monster!
Feidao Daquan's crazy behavior was stopped by the villagers.
It was at this time that they discovered that the flesh-and-blood Bodhisattva, who had been dead for many years, actually had a slight heartbeat.
The Bodhisattva in the flesh is alive!
