Chapter 239 Everything for Buddhism
Zhongzunji Temple, Sutra Repository.
Master Yuanshou faced the sunlight coming in through the window and flipped through a book titled "Notes on Strange Stories of a Buddhist Girl" in his hand.
The author of this book was a great monk 300 years ago, who visited various temples in search of legends about Buddhist women.
It was finally confirmed that a true Buddhist girl had never been born.
Most of the Buddhist maidens mentioned in major temples are talented young girls who, after practicing Buddhist techniques and achieving considerable accomplishment, use this as a disguise.
It is not accurate to say that it is a disguise. It would be more accurate to say that it is neither true nor false.
There is more than just one definition of a Buddhist woman.
If an ordinary woman suddenly realizes Buddhism and embarks on the path of Buddhist practice, she can indeed be considered a Buddhist woman.
A Buddhist woman can also refer to a female Buddhist who possesses compassion, kindness and wisdom.
For example, Lady Srimala and Lady Viśvagāla are model characters in Buddhist stories. They vowed to attract people, were generous and charitable, and possessed the spirit of Mahayana.
And that eminent monk, or the Buddhist woman that Buddhism truly hopes for, is a brand new life who is naturally destined to be with Buddha.
She may be neither a human, nor a demon nor a Buddha, but a pure Buddhist girl who possesses light and wisdom because of her enlightenment to the compassionate Buddhist teachings.
The Buddhist girl who was protected by Master Liansheng in Weilian Ancient Temple was most likely born naturally, rather than a simple female Buddhist.
But no one has yet found out the true identity of that Buddhist woman.
If she is truly a natural Buddha girl born according to the will of Buddha and Bodhisattva, then it will be a blessing for the entire Buddhist community.
It should definitely not be exclusive to one temple or one monk.
Thinking of this, Master Yuanshou's mood was slightly disturbed. He sighed lightly, put down the book in his hand, and put it back on the bookshelf.
For a moment, I didn’t feel like reading it again.
Master Liansheng, this is a name that is destined to be remembered by the entire Buddhist community.
The master Duchen from Koyasan is a real master of Homa-pin practice.
There are probably no more than five Buddhist monks in the world whose cultivation is higher than his.
The fact that Master Liansheng was able to defeat Master Duchen in front of a group of monks from Mount Koya has already proved his powerful cultivation.
What is even more frightening is that he is so young.
In 10 years, or 5 years, or even 3 years, he will be enough to intimidate the entire Buddhist community.
Some are happy, some are sad.
"Master Liansheng..."
Master Yuanshou murmured something, and then there was a sound of footsteps outside. It was two monks with panicked expressions.
When the two monks were about to speak, Master Yuanshou interrupted them with a gesture and asked them to go outside to talk.
Outside the Sutra Repository, Master Yuanshou looked towards the Arakawa District and listened to the report from two young monks.
Last night, two monks from Chuson-ji Temple sneaked out of the temple and went to Weiren Ancient Temple in Arakawa District, intending to explore the mystery of the Buddhist girl.
But until now, the two monks have not returned, and no one knows where they have gone.
"They must have been captured and imprisoned by Master Liansheng." A monk said angrily.
Another monk echoed, "Even though Jingming and his men were at fault, the Weilian Ancient Temple shouldn't have detained anyone. That Master Liansheng was clearly targeting us!"
Master Yuanshou stopped them from continuing and said in a deep voice, "Shouldn't they be captured for doing such a thing?"
"If you make a mistake, you should be punished!"
"Don't use this as an excuse to cause trouble. Let's wait until they come back."
Faced with Master Yuanshou's scolding, the two monks looked at each other, and finally whispered that they knew they were wrong.
The same thing happened in Rinno-ji Temple and Senso-ji Temple.
There are also monks who visited Weilian Ancient Temple at night, and there are also monks who have not returned yet.
Prince Chengxi of Rinno-ji Temple sneered and disagreed.
Upon hearing this, the great monk Feng Lei of Sensō-ji Temple immediately left the temple in anger and headed for Weilian Ancient Temple.
...A hidden spot along the Arakawa River.
“Are we really doing the right thing?”
"Of course it is correct!"
"If we don't do this, the monks in the temple will continue to be deceived by Master Liansheng!"
"That's right! Buddhist girls must belong to the Buddhist sect and must not become the private property of a temple or a monk!"
"We do this out of absolutely no personal grudges, but out of a desire to contribute to the prosperity of Buddhism."
Several monks from Chuson-ji Temple, Rinno-ji Temple, and Sensō-ji Temple who visited Weirenko-ji Temple at night gathered together and discussed how to hide themselves and let the temples target Master Padmasambhava.
Since the monk had disappeared and had not returned, the temple had enough excuses to target Weilian Ancient Temple and Master Liansheng.
For them, everything is for Buddhism.
“Everything is for Buddhism.”
There seemed to be a similar voice ringing out from nowhere.
Then there was a flash of black light, and the throats of several monks gathered on the bank of the Arakawa River were cut, and they died tragically on the spot.
Then, their bodies were thrown into the Arakawa River and were instantly swallowed up by the rushing Arakawa River.
After about a few minutes, the Arakawa River flashed with light, and the corpses that had been thrown into the river were thrown back one by one and fell quietly on the bank of the Arakawa River.
……
At Weilian Ancient Temple, Pinggong Qianye went to school as usual and was not affected by what happened last night.
Ruyi, Saburo Takeda and others were responsible for guarding the temple. Among them, Shuichi Hiratani contacted the police and asked them to do their best to prevent strangers from wandering around the Weilian Ancient Temple.
At 12:20 noon, the gate of Weilian Ancient Temple was knocked loudly again, and a figure with the power of wind and thunder came, showing off his strength without any hesitation.
The wind is howling non-stop.
Thunder, gathering together.
The wind and thunder gradually gained momentum, overwhelming the entire Weilian Ancient Temple.
Takeda Saburo originally wanted to step forward, but was stopped by the monk Mingbai, who walked out of the temple in place of Takeda Saburo and stood in front of the monk who was wrapped in wind and thunder.
The monk Fenglei of Sensō-ji Temple is as swift as the wind, and as violent as thunder. He can use his hands to exert the power of wind and thunder, and rarely fails.
"Where's Liansheng?"
As soon as Master Fenglei opened his mouth, his words came like wind and thunder, blowing people's faces with a shudder of pain.
"Amitabha, Master Liansheng is not in the temple at the moment. Please ask Master Fenglei to leave first and come back another day."
The monk looked calm and his tone was neither humble nor arrogant.
"Buddha girl, you should be in the temple now, right?"
"Why did the monk Feng Lei start a war over the matter of the Buddhist girl?"
Master Feng Lei glanced at Master Ming Bai and sneered, "A monk from my temple came to visit Master Lian Sheng last night, but he has not returned yet. I guess Master Lian Sheng kept him in the temple as a guest."
"There are no other visitors from last night in the temple now."
"Whether it exists or not is not up to you to decide. I need to check it myself before I can draw a conclusion."
As the monk Fenglei spoke, he took a step forward. A scene of wind and thunder appeared faintly behind him. The monk Mingbai's face turned pale, but he still managed to block the way.
"A Buddhist from Shitennoji Temple actually became Liansheng's gatekeeper. Tsk, how interesting."
Monk Fenglei spoke sarcastically, and the wind and thunder phenomena behind him intensified. Faintly, there was a roaring wind and thunder.
"Venerable Monk Fenglei, please do not let your selfishness lead you to..."
Before the monk could finish his sentence, he spat out a mouthful of blood, his face turned pale, his body shook, and he almost fell to the ground.
"It seems that the practice of Buddha needs to be strengthened."
Monk Fenglei chuckled, walked past Monk Mingbai, and entered the temple gate.
PS: There is only one update today, and I will make up for it after a few days of vacation. I hope my readers will forgive me.
