Building a pagoda in a temple is never an easy task and many aspects need to be considered.
The Lotus Sutra, Chapter on Seeing the Treasure Pagoda, says: "At that time before the Buddha there stood a pagoda of seven treasures, five hundred yojanas high and two hundred and fifty yojanas wide and long. It rose from the ground and remained in the air. It was adorned with all kinds of treasures, with five thousand railings and tens of thousands of niches and rooms. It was adorned with countless banners, and dangled with precious jewels and ten thousand precious bells hanging from its top."
Weilian Ancient Temple naturally cannot accommodate such a grand pagoda.

This is the seven-treasure pagoda in front of the Buddha, it does not belong to the human world.
The pagoda that Pinggong Qianye wanted to build was different from the ordinary pagodas that were just for decoration in ordinary temples.
He needed this pagoda to have the power to suppress and subdue all demons and monsters.
That way, he can free up his hands to do something.
The gate to the underworld is not so easy to open, so he needs to make some preparations just in case.

Its name is called the Demon-Subduing Pagoda, also known as the Bodhi Pagoda.
This pagoda is one of the eight great pagodas of the Buddha.
The eight great pagodas of the Tathagata are: the Lotus Pagoda (Lotus Pagoda), the Demon-Subduing Pagoda (Bodhi Pagoda), the Dharma Wheel Pagoda (Auspicious Pagoda), the Miraculous Pagoda, the Heaven-Descent Pagoda (Descent Pagoda), the Peace Pagoda (Harmony Pagoda), the Victory Pagoda (Victory Pagoda), and the Nirvana Pagoda.
