Chapter 33: I Desire Immortal Ascension (Part 2)
Did it see me?
Liu Sheng wasn’t sure.
Under that cold, malevolent gaze, Liu Sheng’s heart nearly stopped.
But she didn’t move, nor did she cry out.
The others in the room also made no sound, only faint, hurried breathing could be heard in the darkness.
After waiting for a while, Liu Sheng’s palms were clenched so tightly that her nails dug in painfully, and Little Tentacle stirred restlessly, before those eyes moved away from under the door crack.
Then Liu Sheng watched a black shadow move forward from under the door crack.
Everyone still didn’t move, knowing that the terrifying entity hadn’t gone far.
Liu Sheng waited silently, just like the others.
Only, her hand was pressed to the ground, and Little Tentacle contracted into a long, inky black strand of hair, subtly extending along the ground towards the doorway.
Little Tentacle passed through the door crack and entered the corridor outside.
It could be seen that, just as Liu Sheng had thought, this was a row of Courtyards, probably about a dozen rooms.
Outside the door, facing the railing, was the pitch-black night, with only the full moon, like a silver plate in the sky, casting its desolate light onto the corridor, allowing the terrifying entity to come into “view.”
Liu Sheng could only “see” its back.
But it wasn't really a back, because it also had faces on its back, and more than one.
If one were to truly describe it, it was many female bodies kneaded into a single mass, sometimes forming a flesh ball, sometimes spreading into a flesh paste, with countless heads protruding from various angles, black hair flowing, blood at the corners of their mouths, and eyeballs rolling around.
There were also many hands and feet twistedly extending from the flesh mass, and in some places where it hadn’t been kneaded well, fresh red internal organs were exposed.
The “thump-thump” sound it made when walking was the sound of the heads beneath it striking the floor.
It continued to “inspect” the rooms one by one.
The heads below struggled to squeeze through the door cracks.
But every room was silent, as if no one was inside.
However, when it paused at a room not far away, someone inside couldn't hold back and let out a scream.
All the faces on the flesh mass simultaneously revealed a bizarre smile.
Then all the hands stretched forward, forcefully tearing open the room door, and it rolled inside.
Then several sharp female screams rose and fell, tearing through the quiet darkness.
But very quickly, these screams died down.
The flesh mass wriggled out, covered in blood, and suddenly, as if sensing something, all its heads abruptly looked in the direction of Little Tentacle.
Liu Sheng’s mind was greatly shaken, and she quickly retracted Little Tentacle.
After an unknown period of waiting, Liu Sheng nearly fainted again, and in her daze, she saw the candlelight rekindle.
“Phew, it’s finally gone,” the Energetic Woman said with lingering fear.
Liu Sheng looked up; their pale, frightened faces were flushed from being covered by the quilts, and the quiet woman was writing something with a brush on a small table, then crumpled it into four paper balls.
She turned to Liu Sheng and said, “Come and draw lots quickly. While that thing is temporarily gone, we need to go out and find food.”
Liu Sheng propped herself up on the table and slowly stood, her legs feeling somewhat numb and weak.
They had already each taken a paper ball, leaving only one for Liu Sheng.
The woman who was clearly impatient with Liu Sheng directly picked up the paper ball and threw it towards Liu Sheng: “Just look at it.”
Liu Sheng didn’t seem angry at all. She picked up the paper ball, opened it, and saw a vertical line drawn on it.
“Oh, you drew the short straw,” the quiet woman said softly, her gaze fixed on Liu Sheng’s face. “However, your body is too weak. I’ll go for you.”
“You and Shu Jing stay here; we’ll go look for food.”
“Alright, I’ll be with her, so you can go without worry.” The always impatient woman was Shu Jing, who said with an unclear smile.
The Energetic Woman said nothing, only stared at Liu Sheng with icy eyes, waiting for Liu Sheng’s answer.
Liu Sheng smiled faintly, saying very calmly, “Alright.”
Liu Sheng’s reaction was somewhat beyond their expectations, but they were only stunned for a moment, then their gazes deepened.
Before leaving the door, the Energetic Woman handed Shu Jing a dagger.
“Take this for self-defense.” Then she squeezed her hand, “We’ll be back early.”
She turned to Liu Sheng and said, “Your body is too weak; taking it would be useless. Let Shu Jing protect you.”
Liu Sheng smiled, and said to Shu Jing, word by word, “Then you must protect me well, okay?”
Shu Jing gritted her teeth upon hearing this, a hint of malice flashing in her eyes.
At this moment, the sounds of doors opening echoed sequentially in the corridor outside, and the two didn't dare to hesitate. They quickly packed a small bundle and went out, seemingly afraid that if they were a step late, they wouldn't get any food.
In the room, only Shu Jing and Liu Sheng remained, utterly silent.
Shu Jing turned to Liu Sheng, seeing that Liu Sheng was still weakly leaning, her body listless, and sneered.
“You really are stupid, aren’t you? To actually be willing to stay. If you had gone out, we might not have dared to do anything in plain sight. But now, hehe…”
Shu Jing picked up the dagger and approached step by step, her face twisted.
“Don’t resent us; we didn’t want to do this either. Blame it on this strange disaster pushing us to a dead end; we just want to live…”
The cold gleam of the dagger reflected on Liu Sheng’s face, but Liu Sheng remained motionless.
“Who told you to be the weakest one… How good it would have been if you had starved to death earlier… I don’t want to…”
Shu Jing’s hand trembled slightly, a flicker of unwillingness in her eyes, then she became resolute.
“Your death can let us live for a while. When we get out, we will definitely set up an eternal memorial tablet for you and offer incense day and night…”
Saying that, the dagger lunged forward.
She thought it would definitely stab into soft flesh, but unexpectedly, a powerful force tugged at her hand and flung it back.
It turned out to be a thick, sticky black tentacle wrapped around her wrist.
She herself had been hungry for many days and had little strength, so with such a Throw, her right hand was dislocated, causing her to fall to her knees in pain, and the dagger clattered to the ground.
But the tentacle didn't stop; it continued to snake towards her left hand, tightly locking her hands together until a “crack” sound was heard.
Shu Jing couldn't help but wail due to the pain of the fracture, rolling on the ground.
Then Liu Sheng raised her hand, and another black tentacle sealed Shu Jing’s mouth.
“Shh, quiet down.”
“Set up an eternal memorial tablet for me? Aren't you afraid I’ll die with grievances and come looking for you every day?” Liu Sheng sneered.
Shu Jing’s face, distorted by the tentacle’s binding, was filled with terror, and the malice in her eyes when she looked at Liu Sheng was almost palpable.
Liu Sheng didn’t seem to care. Her fingers hooked, and the tentacle picked up the dagger from the ground and played with it, even placing the blade against Shu Jing’s neck and gesturing with it.
“That’s why villains die from talking too much. If you’re going to kill, then kill. Why all the chatter?”
Shu Jing felt the coldness on her neck, and the slight pain of her skin being pierced, and she trembled all over, unable to resist showing a pleading look.
“What, you want to talk?”
Shu Jing wanted to nod, but was afraid that if she moved carelessly, the knife might accidentally cut her throat, so she could only look up at Liu Sheng pitifully.
“Then can you be good? I ask a question, and you answer a question?”
Shu Jing hesitated for a moment, and instantly the tentacle tightened, making her forehead sweat with pain. She quickly blinked to signal her compliance.
“Alright, let’s test it out and see if you’re honest or not.” Liu Sheng moved the tentacle from her mouth. “First question, what is my name?”
Shu Jing was a little confused, but still quickly answered before the tentacle could act up: “Your name is Yao Sujin.”
“Where is this?”
“This is Seven Profound Academy.”
“What is Seven Profound Academy?”
“Seven Profound Academy is established for Disciples who wish to join Xuan Mountain but have not yet begun their cultivation.”
“What is the current year number?”
“Tianhe Twenty-Third Year.”
“Why do you want to kill me?”
