Chapter 3: Freemasonry

“Sorry, sorry, I hope we haven’t kept you waiting.”

Harvey and Klan, along with another Wizard Apprentice, walked over with a somewhat timid girl around Dylan’s age. She had intended to stand with Meliya, but as soon as she approached, Meliya, noticing her shabby clothes, rolled her eyes and moved further away, instantly making the girl’s face flush. She stopped approaching, standing rooted to the spot, looking quite at a loss.

At this moment, Klan, a fellow female Wizard Apprentice, stepped forward, put an arm around the girl, and then, still smiling, introduced her to everyone: “Her name is Daisy, and like all of you, she has medium talent.”

“Medium talent is really becoming worthless; even such shabby wretches can have medium talent.”

Clearly, Meliya was taking out the frustration she had just experienced with Dylan on Daisy, who was obviously easier to bully.

Looking at Daisy, who was visibly timid but had clear, bright eyes, Dylan’s intuition told him that this girl, similar in age to himself, definitely had good talent.

Therefore, he put on a completely guileless, friendly demeanor, took a step forward, took Daisy’s hand, and asked her with a smile: “Daisy, I have a level six talent, what about you?”

Looking at Dylan holding her hand, Daisy felt a sudden catch in her chest. She had never seen such a handsome boy.

Especially his hand, unlike her own rough skin from years of chores at home, his hand was fair and delicate, looking so beautiful, so beautiful that Daisy felt she didn’t deserve to be held by him.

Daisy, with her dry, yellow hair, carefully looked up at the boy so close to her, at his face, which was infinitely more handsome than the young master at home. Daisy’s cheeks flushed slightly, and she answered in a low voice: “Level six, I have a level six talent, just, just like you.”

As soon as Daisy finished speaking, Dylan exclaimed loudly, then looked at Meliya with a smirk, and said loudly: “So you and I both have level six talent! Just one step away from being able to seek out those Wizard s! What a shame!”

Hearing Dylan’s emphasis on the words ‘level six’ and ‘just one step away,’ Meliya, whose face was as black as the bottom of a pot, was about to leave, but before she could take two steps, Harvey stopped her and soothed her: “Alright, Dylan didn’t mean it. Besides, we have something very important to discuss soon.”

Harvey’s face held the same gentle smile as before, but his tone was undeniably firm.

Although Meliya’s family was considered prominent in the kingdom, in a place like Black Stone Tower, her family was nothing at all.

Now, hearing Harvey say this, Meliya naturally didn’t have the courage to defy him. She simply stopped looking at Dylan and Daisy, and instead stood quietly beside Sera, a servant from her family, watching Harvey and the other two.

Seeing Meliya quiet down, Dylan secretly thought it was a pity.

He had deliberately stirred up trouble earlier, aiming to provoke Meliya, this noble young lady whose status was written all over her face. He wanted to see how Harvey and the others would react when Meliya, provoked, wanted to leave.

Unfortunately, that Harvey only stepped in to stop her once, and Meliya, this noble young lady, caved in. He had thought she was a genuinely fearless character, but it turned out she was just a bully who picked on the weak.

Harvey and the others naturally saw that Dylan was deliberately causing trouble earlier, but given Meliya’s prior instigation, they simply assumed Dylan was merely retaliating.

At this point, seeing Dylan and the others quiet down, they no longer delayed. Harvey and the others were long tired of playing house with children and being the good guys. If it weren’t for a mission from the organization, they wouldn’t bother putting on this act.

With a gentle smile on his face, Harvey stepped forward and addressed everyone: “Everyone, I believe you all have some understanding of our Black Stone Tower. It’s very difficult for an individual to become a Wizard Apprentice within the allotted time by fighting alone. Therefore, I am here on behalf of the Freemasons behind us to invite all of you to join us.

As long as you join our Freemasons, we can not only provide you with more resources than ordinary new apprentices can receive for free, but also offer consistent guidance.

We came up this way ourselves, and a new apprentice from my cohort, who had even better talent than me, unfortunately failed to become a Wizard Apprentice because he didn’t join the Freemasons, and ultimately became a commoner.

So I hope you will seriously consider joining our Freemasons, becoming one of us, and helping us develop and strengthen the Freemasons.”

As his words fell, everyone looked at Harvey, and for a moment, no one immediately responded.

However, very quickly, Liam, who had been by himself all this time, suddenly spoke up and asked: “Sir Harvey, if we join the Freemasons, will we be required to do anything?”

“No, or rather, not for now. After all, you are still very weak. When you are needed to contribute, it will at least be when you become a Wizard Apprentice.”

“Then, can you tell me... us, who is the leader of the Freemasons?”

“Our leader is Sir Alvaro. He is a member of our Black Stone Tower’s Wizard Sequence, a great figure second only to a Wizard. I think this should prove the value of our Freemasons.”

The Wizard Sequence is a ranking within the Black Stone Tower for Wizard Apprentices who possess the potential to become Wizards.

They enjoy resources and rights that exceed those of ordinary Wizard Apprentices and are close to those of official Wizards.

Calling them a great figure is not an exaggeration.

Of course, regarding the title of Wizard Sequence, aside from Liam, who clearly understood Black Stone Tower, Dylan, Daisy, and the others all looked bewildered.

However, Daisy and the others were genuinely bewildered, while Dylan was feigning bewilderment.

After briefly explaining the meaning of Wizard Sequence, Harvey looked again at Meliya, Sera, and the others, who clearly had expectations in their eyes, and continued to ask: “So, does anyone else have any questions?”

Liam shook his head, no longer speaking, but Daisy, on the other hand, gently raised her hand and asked: “I, I want to know why the three sirs didn’t recruit more people, and there are only five of us.”

This time, it was Harvey and the other two who looked bewildered.

Recruit more people?

Who are you talking about?

Those new apprentices with low talent?

Are those with low talent even considered people?

Of course, while they thought this, Harvey and the others wouldn’t actually say it. They merely suppressed the sense of absurdity in their hearts and bluffed to Daisy: “This is, of course, because resources are limited. Our Freemasons is not an organization with unlimited resources, so of course, it’s impossible to recruit just anyone to waste...”

“Cough!” Coughing, Klan cut off Harvey’s unfinished sentence, then looked at Daisy and explained like a caring older sister: “Actually, we are also very pained that we cannot help more people. That’s why we try every means to recruit you. Once you also become Wizard Apprentices, you can be like us and help more people, right?”
