Chapter 40: Make peace

After two more cups of tea, they stopped drinking. It would be dinner time soon, and how could they possibly eat with a belly full of water?

"Uncle, I'm going to go see Gu Jia. Let Zi Yan take you for a walk."

"Okay, okay, tell Gu Jia not to make too much of a fuss. We're all family, so just eat a bite."

Gu Jinghong nodded in agreement. He felt uncomfortable staying with Wang Yan and the other two.

After saying a few words, he picked up Xu Ziyan who was watching cartoons.

Even though they hadn't seen each other for a long time, Xu Ziyan missed his grandfather. But he was very tired and didn't want to move at all. However, he had no room to resist. Wang Yan gave him a look and he was obedient. He took Gu Jinghong up and down the stairs, introducing him from time to time.

Such a nice house, and it belongs to his daughter. Gu Jinghong looked at it very seriously and interrupted to ask questions from time to time.

This made Xu Ziyan regain the feeling of bragging during the day. He instantly recovered and was not tired at all. He kept talking to Gu Jinghong.

Wang Yan looked at Xu Ziyan, who was unconscious, and felt a sense of accomplishment. Now the little guy was healthy, lively and cheerful, with good expressive and practical skills. Most importantly, he was tough and generous. But Wang Yan couldn't tell whether it was Gu Jia's good foundation or his own level of skill.

After tidying up the tea set, Wang Yan went to the kitchen.

Gu Jia, who was stirring the wok, saw Wang Yan come in and said with a smile, "Why are you here? Get out now."

"I've finished talking to your dad, and I'm here to help you with some chores."

"Wang Yan, my dad..."

Before she could finish, Wang Yan said, "Oh, it's okay. Old people are like that. I understand."

Seeing that she still wanted to speak, he continued, "Okay, hurry up and cook. Zi Yan has been yelling for a long time."

Gu Jia smiled helplessly and said, "Go out quickly, there are only two more dishes left to cook."

"I'll help you. I'm pretty good at it. What's left?"

Pull out the skill bar on the panel, find cooking, entry level 1, pretty good.

Wang Yan had been living out for so many years, eating out every day, taking out food every day, and eating at restaurants within a mile of his building, he was almost sick of it. Cooking is not difficult, if you want to eat something, just follow the recipe and cook it yourself.

The main reason is that he doesn't cook it often, so his form is inconsistent. Sometimes he cooks a dish with such a stroke of genius that it's simply amazing. But the second time around, it falls flat, and doesn't quite have that same feeling.

Anyway, it tastes delicious to him.

"Stir-fried shrimp and boiled pork."

"Then I'll just use boiled pork. This is easy."

This dish is simply pork belly cooked whole and sliced thinly, but the real soul lies in the sauce. With the same ingredients, the real challenge is how to combine them. This is a matter of constant experimentation, constant learning, and practice makes perfect.

Gu Jia had already cooked the meat and it was left there to dry.

Then Wang Yan got busy, slicing the meat thinly. The thinner, the better. Wang Yan's knife skills were decent enough; he'd learned martial arts before, so they were all integrated. Cutting the meat was similar; steady hands were all that mattered. He had good control, but he couldn't go too fast; he sliced slowly, one slice at a time.

I prepared several bowls of sauce, tasted each one with chopsticks, and finally found the one I thought tasted the best and poured it over it. I was done.

Gu Jia could finish this thing in about 70% of her time, but Wang Yan took more than 20 minutes. She had finished long ago and was watching Wang Yan busy with tenderness and a smile on her face.

The two of them brought the dishes to the table and greeted the grandparents and grandchildren who were still strolling around.

Wang Yan filled a bottle of white wine and poured a little less for Gu Jinghong.

"Uncle, I'm afraid you can't handle it, so let's just drink a little, just for the sake of showing our appreciation."

Gu Jinghong did not object. He knew his physical condition, and it was good enough that Gu Jia allowed him to drink something.

Wang Yan raised his glass and clinked glasses with Gu Jinghong, then took a small sip.

"Try this boiled pork, what do you think?"

After everyone tasted it, Gu Jia and her daughter praised it highly, saying it was delicious, and then added that it would be better if it was a little lighter.

Xu Ziyan gave him face and tasted it, smacking his lips. He then took another piece with chopsticks and put it in the bowl to mix with the rice. With a bulging mouth, he said, "It's so delicious, so delicious."

After all, he is used to eating food with a lot of oil and salt, and he makes the sauce according to his own taste, so it is normal that they are not used to it.

Xu Ziyan must have been really tired, so he ate with extra relish. Otherwise, it would have been hard for him, such a little kid, to handle it.

Everyone was chatting casually about family matters, and as they were talking, Gu Jia, whether intentionally or unintentionally, brought up the topic of the nursing home.

"Dad, are you used to it in the nursing home?"

"It's a habit. There's someone to take care of my eating, drinking, and toileting. There's also a bunch of old friends. It's nice to chat and play chess when I have nothing to do."

Gu Jia said "hmm" and continued to take care of Xu Ziyan, who had rice grains on his face.

Wang Yan understood that Gu Jia was really worried about Gu Jinghong and wanted to see what he meant.

After all, the two of them have only been living together for a few days. Gu Jia might be embarrassed to say it, so she took this opportunity to give him a hint.

"Uncle, why don't you move here? This house is quite big and there's plenty of space." Wang Yan took over the conversation.

"Besides, the market and hospital are not far away, so it's very convenient."

As soon as these words came out, Gu Jia was happy, and immediately went up to persuade him: "Yes, Dad, you coming here will save me from worrying all the time."

Gu Jinghong was also tempted to move in after hearing this, but he cut the idea short as it came to mind. He was still worried that if he moved in, it would affect their lives over time, and that it would cause some conflicts because of him. That would be terrible. His daughter had just divorced, and if this rich man went bankrupt because of him, how could he still live in dignity?

"Forget it. I'm doing fine in the nursing home. I've gotten used to it lately, so I won't bother you anymore."

Wang Yan said, "Well, uncle, why don't you stay at Junyue Mansion for a while? It's only a ten-minute walk away, so it's not far."

"There's only one bathroom in that apartment, and it's in the master bedroom. I'm looking for someone to build one these days, otherwise it'll be inconvenient to hire a nanny."

Then he asked Gu Jia on the side: "What do you think?"

Gu Jia thought this was the best solution and agreed. Gu Jinghong agreed without saying a word. Of course, he also wanted to be closer. At his age, this was all he wanted.

The matter was settled, and the atmosphere returned to its previous harmony.

After dinner, Gu Jia cleaned up a guest room for Gu Jinghong to stay.

After coaxing Xu Ziyan to sleep, he returned to the bedroom and saw Wang Yan leaning against the head of the bed reading a book.

She closed the bedroom door, then walked slowly to the bed, gently took the book from Wang Yan's hand, and turned over to sit astride Wang Yan.

Wang Yan couldn't stand being teased by Gu Jia. He thrust upwards and hugged her, kissing and whispering to her.

"Why are you in such a hurry?"

"You've done so much, I want to thank you very much." Gu Jia said emotionally.

"We are a legal couple, why are you talking about that?" He turned over and pressed Gu Jia under him.

“But action still needs to be taken.”

A night of passion.

The next day, Gu Jia was so grateful that she rarely got up early to make breakfast.

After Wang Yan went out for a run, he bought breakfast for the family.

After a beautiful morning, Gu Jia sent Xu Ziyan to school and Gu Jinghong back to the nursing home.

All that was left was to tidy up her tea factory, change its name, trademark, etc., and settle the previous issues.

Even though Wang Yan was not used, Wang's name and face were enough, and the process was much smoother than in the drama.

She is not short of money, so why would she play the game of playing misery to seek investment?

The ladies in the wives' circle all knew what Gu Jia was doing. It was just a matter of purchasing a batch of gifts. She didn't even need the consent of her husbands. She could get it done with just a phone call. Even Mrs. Li purchased a batch to ease the relationship. Everyone was doing their job well.

Her company hasn't been set up yet, but she already has a pile of orders.

Wang Yan went to find a renovation company and asked them to renovate the entire bathroom. Gu Jia thanked him so enthusiastically, why did he take it seriously?

After finishing all this, Wang Yan went to the company. After more than 20 days of handling daily affairs, there was indeed a backlog, and many things had to be handled by him.

The reason he needed to intervene was simply because his subordinates weren't qualified enough to hold a conversation. Even with Wang Yan's considerable authority, there were still many things he couldn't handle, and he couldn't make the final decision. So, he was just going about his business, drinking tea and boasting.

A week passed quickly, and he had sorted out all the things he needed to do, and he finally had some free time again.

That day, Wang Yan received an unexpected call asking him to meet and chat.

After thinking about it, he didn't refuse. Since he had nothing to do, he just treated it as a pastime and drove to the meeting place.

When we got there, we found out it was a high-end private club that ordinary people couldn't come to.

Wang Yan has seen the world now, and this stuff is nothing special to him.

There was someone waiting for him at the door. After giving his name, Wang Yan was taken to a luxuriously decorated and generally dark room.

The owner of this club, the one who invited him, Wei Zhijie, who was also the guy who finally brought Wang Manni back to Shanghai in the play, stood up to greet him when he came in.

Wang Yan walked over and greeted him with a smile: "Boss Wei, long time no see. Please sit down. Everyone, don't be so polite. What can you do for me this time?"

"Haha, Mr. Wang, please come and sit down. That's not right. Can't I just talk to you when there's nothing else to do?"

"Yes, of course. Chatting with President Wei always makes people happy."

This old man was the first wealthy man to come to Wang Yan when he first became famous. He had a pretty good eye. Although he had a variety of professionals under him, including his own abilities, which were not bad, even top-notch, he wouldn't have been able to build up such a huge fortune without them.

But when it comes to his control of the international situation, his understanding of his old rivals in Europe and the United States, including the gap in his own realm and pattern, and his foresight of the future, all in all, there is still a big gap between him and Mr. Wang.

When he approached Wang Yan, he was quite polite. He was someone who could afford to sacrifice his dignity for someone who could make a lot of money. Wang Yan saw that his attitude was acceptable, so he gave him some money and let him get in the car.

Over such a long time, he has made a lot of money following Wang Yan.

The two of them sat down and exchanged pleasantries, praising each other. It was truly a match made in heaven.

After talking for a long time, Wei Zhijie couldn't hold it in any longer. Everyone was very busy, and bragging like that would only waste time.

After taking a sip of tea and coughing for a while, he cleared his throat and said, "To be honest, Mr. Wang, I really do have something to talk to you about."

Wang Yan understood that no one would bother to chat with a man.

Motioned for him to continue.

"Look, someone asked me to intercede for you. I'm asking you to help me. We should resolve our feud rather than create it. Let's shake hands and make peace. You set the terms."

After hearing this, Wang Yan understood. It was self-evident who it was. Since he came to this world, he had only been dealing with the Liang family for a while.

It's not surprising that they were able to find him as the mastermind behind the incident. As long as he did it, no matter how well he covered it up, there would be traces. It's normal for the Liang family to find him if they were determined to track him down.

As long as we lock on to him and then find someone with a certain level of power who we know by chance, that would be even more normal.

Wang Yan asked, "The Liang family suffered such a huge loss, and they don't want to kill me, but they still want you to mediate?"

He has been busy dealing with previous matters recently and has not paid special attention to the Liang family's affairs.

For him, the sense of accomplishment of being the mastermind behind the scenes was only there for a moment, and then it was over. The Liang family was just meat on the chopping block, their fate sealed the moment he made his move.

Over half a month had passed, and the Liang family had been struggling to hold on, but signs of fatigue were evident, and they were on the verge of collapse. Of course, even if it happened quickly, it would still take some time, and it wasn't something that could just disappear.

After finally finding out the whole story, the old man was almost furious. Because of a woman who wanted to show off, he almost destroyed the Liang family?

Of course, he couldn't help but curse at Wang Yan. It was just a small matter, so why did he make such a fuss? Did he have to make a big fuss about it?

This was from his perspective; he had never considered the consequences for those who had been bullied by Liang Zhengxian before. It was only allowed for me to bully you, but not for you to bully me. This was a habit he'd developed.

Of course, Wang Yan wasn't seeking revenge for those who had been badly treated by Liang Zhengxian before. Those bastards deserved it. If you weren't so eager to get jealous, you would just be trampled on a little bit and that would be it. You kneel down a lot, don't you? What's wrong with just enduring it? And you have to act like a superior person, and then you can't beat them after pretending to be better than them. Who can you blame?

A lifetime of fame, destroyed in a single day. Old Master Liang, in a fit of youthful rage, raised his cane and beat Liang Zhengxian nearly to death, then kicked him out of the house.

This happened yesterday. His subordinates reported it specifically, so he knew about it.

Wei Zhijie said: "Boss Wang, this is the case. The Liang family..."

He told Wang Yan some things that hadn't been found out, indicating that he still had some background. Although he was seriously injured by you, if you stop, he can still recover and make a comeback.

Wang Yan pondered for a moment after hearing this. The grudge had already been formed. If he didn't kill the snake, he would suffer. He could only hope for the best. If Liang Zhengxian didn't cause trouble for him after he recovered, he would still be a member of the Liang family. They wouldn't just watch him suffer poverty and starvation. Ultimately, that would be a disgrace to them.

What was the point of all this trouble? Just for the money he'd scraped out now, and the apology? And the future hatred and endless revenge? Wasn't he just crazy?

You can get more by taking them down. You can just kill them directly without having to worry about their revenge. What a great thing.

And what Wei Zhijie just said might not be complete, but what does it matter? Isn't he still almost broken?

"Boss Wei, let me tell you this. This time, I'm not only operating with my own money, but I don't have that much money."

Wang Yan raised a finger and said, "So far, you have earned this much money from me."

Wei Zhijie's eyes widened instantly. This was all cash.

Wang Yan continued, "If the Liang family is brought down, including what you just said..."

Wei Zhijie could think of the rest. He knew how much money he had with Wang Yan, and he had a rough idea of the amount in an instant.

He immediately smiled and didn't mention anything about asking for mercy. He stood up and said, "Haha, Mr. Wang. You haven't eaten yet, come on, I have a new chef here, his cooking skills are impeccable. Can you give him some pointers so that he can improve his skills?"

There might be a difference in wealth, but Wang Yan was definitely qualified in terms of rank. They were all players of the same level, so Wei Zhijie wasn't afraid of making a fool of himself in front of Wang Yan.

That doesn't give Wang Yan any chance at all.

He came over and took Wang Yan away: "I know that Mr. Wang loves white wine. Isn't it a coincidence that I got a bottle of fifty-year-old wine a few days ago, just waiting for Mr. Wang to come and taste it."

Wang Yan didn't even bother to say anything more about Wei Zhijie's antics. Don't be fooled by the way he looks in the story, with his deadpan expression, pretending to be nothing but a smooth person. In reality, he's full of tricks behind the scenes, and his heart is incredibly dark.

Then the two of them ate and drank, and talked in a mysterious way for a long time.
