Chapter 20: Two Women's Journey into the Outer Realm of the Gods

In the dark of night, Xuan Hao leaned back in his chair, a faint hunger spreading from the depths of his Primordial Spirit.

He closed his eyes.

“Buzz!”

An invisible Mental Energy Domain spread out!

Xuan Hao’s massive Mental Energy projection rose again, the three-headed, six-armed shadow appearing and disappearing in the gray mist.

He opened his invisible, gigantic mouth, devouring the “spirit” floating in this area.

....

Meanwhile, in a high-end hotel room.

Qu Huaiwei leaned back in her chair and dialed her student’s phone number.

“Ling’er, it’s me. Tell me in detail, how did you see that Outer God?”

“Ah?” Qiao Ling’er was surprised.

“I was fantasizing... no, when I was meditating, I imagined myself as a Martial Artist and saw the Outer God.”

“Is that so?” Qu Huaiwei was surprised.

“What’s wrong?”

Qiao Ling’er asked.

Qu Huaiwei replied, “I’m at the hotel next to your apartment. I want to experiment personally.”

“Teacher, isn’t that too dangerous?”

Qiao Ling’er’s astonished voice rang out, “Contacting an Outer God could lead to Mental Energy contamination.”

“But you’re fine, aren’t you?”

Qu Huaiwei said, “Don’t worry, it’s just an experiment. I’ll know my limits.”

With that, she hung up the phone.

“Fantasy?”

Qu Huaiwei sat cross-legged.

She murmured, her consciousness sinking into a deep meditative state.

“I’ve had contact with an Outer God before, and with my strong Mental Energy, I should be able to see the so-called True Immortal Qiao Ling’er mentioned.” Qu Huaiwei clenched her fists.

Inside the suite, silence reigned.

And at the edge where reality and spirit intersected, an imperceptible ripple quietly spread.

Qu Huaiwei’s eyes were tightly shut, her forehead beaded with fine sweat.

She concentrated her Mental Energy and will, far surpassing ordinary people, forcing herself to imagine everything Qiao Ling’er had described.

Ten minutes... twenty minutes.

Half an hour passed.

There was no anticipated Mental Energy storm, no terrifying whispers, no insane scenes that twisted perception.

Qu Huaiwei opened her eyes, filled with confusion and doubt.

“How could... there be no reaction?” she murmured to herself.

Contact with an Outer God, even indirect, mental contact, in humanity’s existing knowledge, is always accompanied by unimaginable risks.

Looking directly at a divine existence is extremely dangerous!

Even a mere glimpse could lead to mental breakdown or the tragedy of physical mutation.

Even with her powerful Mental Energy, she had prepared herself for immense Impact and pain.

However... the surroundings were dead silent.

This Domain, described by Qiao Ling’er as filled with terrifying pressure, was to her as still as a bottomless lake.

Aside from the fatigue brought on by mental concentration, she felt no discomfort.

“Is the target not revived?”

“Or is it that He doesn’t want to respond?”

Qu Huaiwei stood up and stretched her somewhat stiff limbs.

She walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, intending to look at the financial district’s night view to clear her mind. However, the scene outside the window instantly froze her.

It was a dense, impenetrable gray mist.

No exaggeration, it covered the sky and obscured the sun!

Buildings, neon lights, streets....

Everything within sight was completely swallowed by a heavy, viscous, opaque grayish-white mist.

Visibility was less than fifty meters.

The entire world was left with only oppressive haziness.

“Tonight’s weather forecast was clear. This is definitely not natural fog.” Qu Huaiwei’s heart skipped a beat.

She turned sideways, continuing to look at the gray mist....

A thousand meters away in the sky, a giant, suffocating shadowy outline floated.

Three colossal heads came into view!

It seemed to be looking down at the world shrouded in gray mist.

Six arms floated silently, like statues of ancient deities.

Those massive eyes emitted a faint, eerie glow.

It was clearer, and closer!

“It’s here.”

Qu Huaiwei pressed her wildly beating heart, took a deep breath, and decisively walked out of the room to press the elevator button.

....

The clamor was completely cut off, replaced by dead silence.

The empty street stretched into the depths of the grayish-white mist, and the halos of the streetlights could only illuminate a small area at her feet in the thick fog, adding to the eeriness.

Qu Huaiwei had only walked a few steps when clear footsteps sounded behind her.

“Tap, tap, tap....”

She quickly turned around, her muscles tensing.

In the gray mist, a graceful figure slowly approached.

She wore a pure white retro long dress, its hem swaying slightly with her steps, and an ancient longsword was slung across her back.

It was Qiao Ling’er!

Her face still showed traces of lingering shock.

Seeing Qu Huaiwei, she visibly relaxed and ran over, accelerating her pace.

“Teacher, you came in too? This time it seems different.” Qiao Ling’er’s tone was a little hurried.

“What’s different?”

Qu Huaiwei’s gaze was alert, sweeping the surroundings.

“The fog is thicker, and its projection is clearer,” Qiao Ling’er replied.

Qu Huaiwei looked into the distance, her gaze returning to the colossal shadow suspended in the sky, “Is that the True Immortal you spoke of?”

“That’s it.”

Qiao Ling’er nodded vigorously.

Her voice carried an unconscious tremor, “Teacher, this situation is absolutely not normal. I suggest we must notify the authorities immediately.”

Qu Huaiwei gazed at the giant shadow, not answering immediately.

The light of thought flickered in her eyes.

“Not yet.”

After a moment, Qu Huaiwei said in a low voice.

“Why?”

Qiao Ling’er was somewhat surprised.

“It’s too dangerous. I still remember the first thing you told me when I entered the academy, Teacher, was to be careful of Outer Gods. What if it fully awakens....”

“Do you trust me?”

Qu Huaiwei suddenly interrupted her.

Qiao Ling’er was stunned by the question.

Looking at her teacher’s solemn expression, and recalling the scenes in the laboratory where she examined and analyzed for her, that sense of trust outweighed her fear.

She nodded vigorously: “Of course I trust you, Teacher, but....”

“I understand your concerns.”

Qu Huaiwei’s tone was calm, “It currently shows no aggressive intent, as your case sufficiently proves.”

“It is very special. We need more information to make a correct judgment.”

“Reporting it rashly will only cause unnecessary panic... and perhaps escalate into a catastrophic military confrontation. Until we have conclusive evidence and confirm its threat Rank, we will keep it confidential for now.”

“Okay....”

Seeing her teacher’s firm gaze, Qiao Ling’er ultimately chose to obey.

Her teacher had done a lot of research on Outer Gods.

If there was anyone she could trust, her teacher would definitely be the first.

But Qiao Ling’er was still very nervous. She gripped the hilt of the sword on her back, her palms slick with sweat.
