Chapter 33: Foundation Building on a Day

Chapter 33 A hundred days of foundation building

The next day, in the imperial capital, outside Baiyun luxurious business car slowly stopped.

The passenger door was opened and a handsome young man in black got out of the car.

Immediately afterwards, a man got down from the driver's seat.

The man had a square face and exuded an aura of majesty without even getting angry, as if he were an emperor who had long been in a high position.

"Son, how about this place?"

Hearing the voice, the young man looked up at Baiyun Temple in front of him.

Outside Baiyun Temple, tourists are bustling in an endless stream, stalls are lined up on both sides of the street, and the sound of hawking is endless.

“Isn’t this… a tourist attraction?”

There was a hint of surprise on his face.

The strange people he had met before, not to mention how well they hid themselves, would definitely not expose themselves to the public so openly.

"Hey, I need to eat too... Let's go in."

As he spoke, the square-faced man led the handsome young man into the mountain gate.

Along the way, the two passed through several halls and finally came to a tightly closed door.

Without waiting for knocking, the door opened automatically, and a slightly fat Taoist with a beard and glasses poked his head out.

After seeing the two people, the Taoist bowed.

"Mr. Jiang, Mr. Jiang. I am Liu Xingyang, nice to meet you two."

"Thank you for your courtesy, Taoist priest." Father Jiang said humbly, "I will trouble you Taoist priests to take care of my son in the next few days."

"The master has explained it to me. You two can just follow me into the monastery."

Jiang Lan was a little surprised when he heard this, and looked at Jiang's father with a very clear look in his eyes.

Are you here too?

No one knows a son better than his father. Father Jiang saw what his son was thinking at a glance and said with a smile:

"I'm going to go and chat with some Taoist priests. As for you, just follow Taoist priest Liu for the next few days."

Jiang Lan felt relieved.

I'm already this grown up, but if I still need my father to accompany me, that would be a bit unreasonable.

Entering the backyard of the Taoist temple, Father Jiang said:

"Let's go, go meet the elders first."

Jiang Lan nodded.

If you come here to study, you must meet those Taoist priests first.

"Two laymen, please follow me."

Taoist Priest Liu Xingyang said this as he led Jiang Lan and his son towards a large hall.

There were two old men sitting on the armchairs in the main hall. Both of them had white hair, white eyebrows and white beards, but they looked energetic.

"Mr. Jiang."

An old man on the left spoke first.

"Master Fang, Master Wang." Father Jiang bowed slightly and then introduced Jiang Lan, "This is Master Fang Dongtian, and the other one is Master Wang Yuanzheng."

"Master Fang, Master Wang." Jiang Lan also bowed.

Judging from their appearance, these two are definitely over a hundred years old, so it's not wrong for Jiang Lan to call them Taoist masters.

"Good boy."

After receiving the greeting, the Taoist priest surnamed Wang stood up with a smile, walked to Jiang Lan, took out a warm jade pendant from his arms and handed it to him, saying:

"This is our first meeting, and we don't have anything to show you. Please accept this Heart-nourishing Jade for now. Consider it a meeting gift from Junior Brother Fang and me."

Jiang Lan did not refuse, took the jade pendant, and bowed again:

"Thank you, two Taoist masters."

As soon as Jiang Lan received the jade pendant, he felt a refreshing coolness seeping into his body, which made him feel a little calmer.

However, the effect is not obvious.

Jiang Lan had just killed someone, and the ferocious beast had already hidden away. If the ferocious beast began to affect his emotions again, the effect of this mind-nourishing jade would be, if not completely useless, at least minimal.

After all, if it was really useful, Jiang Lan's father would have found a way to get him a hundred of them long ago.

After delivering the things, Wang Yuanzheng did not leave immediately, but looked Jiang Lan up and down for a while. After a moment, he nodded and said with satisfaction:

"The spirit and form are perfect, condensed and not scattered. He is a talent that can be cultivated."

"Master Wang, thank you for your praise, haha..."

Father Jiang laughed happily a few times. It made him much happier to hear his son being praised than to hear himself being praised.

Jiang Lan also smiled and said nothing.

After a few more casual chats, Father Jiang said:

"Okay, Jiang Lan, go get acquainted with Taoist Priest Liu first. I'll chat with the two Taoist masters for a while."

"Boy, please leave."

Jiang Lan nodded, turned around and left the hall.

At the entrance of the hall, Liu Xingyang was already waiting for him.

Seeing Jiang Lan coming out, Liu Xingyang said:

"Master Jiang, shall I take you around first so you can meet the other disciples in the temple?"

Jiang Lan was still a little uncomfortable with the title of Young Master, so he said:

"Master, just call me Jiang Lan. There's no need to walk around. Let's just practice directly."

Counting the time, there are still ten days left before the Luotian Grand Ceremony begins.

Before that, he has to go back to City Z.

Therefore, the time left for him to practice was not much.

"Okay, then come with me."

As he spoke, Liu Xingyang began to lead the way.

The two of them came to a quiet room.

"Although you are an alien, inner alchemy practice is different from others, so you must be prepared to start over."

Jiang Lan nodded when he heard this. He was mentally prepared for this.

Before this, he had never practiced anything systematically, and even the Qi in his body came along with the ferocious beast.

"I know this, but Taoist Priest, how long will it take to refine the inner elixir?"

Hearing Jiang Lan's question, Liu Xingyang thought for a while and said:

"If it's an ordinary person who has never been exposed to Qi Refining before but has a natural talent, this process can take as short as a year or as long as four or five years. But you are an extraordinary person, if you have a good talent, it can take as short as three months or as long as half a year."

Jiang Lan thought about it and said, "Is ten days okay?"

Liu Xingyang: “…”

Do you think we are eating? Can we eat whenever we are told?

However, considering that Jiang Lan was brought by Jiang Aimin, he did not say it so firmly, but said relatively tactfully:

"Well... I have been practicing in Baiyun Temple for half my life, and I have never seen anyone condense an inner elixir in ten days."

Jiang Lan was a little disappointed when he heard this.

However, this emotion only lasted for a moment.

Everything depends on human effort. If you can succeed, that’s the best. If you can’t, just go back and practice slowly.

"Then let's get started."

Jiang Lan immediately sat cross-legged on the cushion.

Although he had never been a Taoist priest, he had a general understanding of the process of refining the inner elixir.

However, he wouldn't dare to tinker with this kind of thing on his own if no one taught him.

If you fail, it's a small matter, but if you go astray, it will be troublesome.

Liu Xingyang's voice sounded slowly.

"No matter what you learn, as long as it is a Taoist practice, the prerequisite is to build a foundation first. The foundation building is roughly divided into two steps, namely 'refining qi' and 'cultivating nature'.

"The first step in refining Qi is to meditate. The purpose of meditation is to allow oneself to reach a state of tranquility..."

The teaching lasted for half an hour before Liu Xingyang spoke again:

"I have said everything I need to say. Now you can try it yourself."
