Chapter 148: Jiang Yan, are you a human?

Inside the small wooden house, Jiang Xun'er took out the breakfast she and her younger brother had carefully prepared from her Storage Pouch.

Jiang Yan looked at the lavish breakfast spread and immediately began speaking all sorts of flattering words, hoping to make Jiang Xun'er happy.

But Jiang Xun'er merely pointed to one of the dishes and said, “This dish was specially made for you by my younger brother, Jiang Yan. I hope you can Cultivate diligently and recover your Realm as soon as possible.”

“Understood, understood.”

Jiang Yan didn't understand why Jiang Xun'er was so suspicious today. He was too lazy to explain further; after all, Jiang Xun'er had no evidence.

Sitting on the small wooden stool, Jiang Yan ate the food prepared for him by the two of them with large bites.

During the two days in Spring Breeze Pavilion, Jiang Yan had been engrossed in drinking and entertainment. Now, eating a table full of delicacies specially prepared for him by his girlfriend was truly an incredibly refreshing experience.

Seeing Jiang Yan's famished, wolfing-down appearance, Jiang Xun'er turned her head away.

She looked at her younger brother, who was still standing beside her, and said gently, “Little brother, you must be hungry too, right? Do you want to sit down and eat something first?”

“No, elder sister, I'm not hungry.”

Hearing this, Jiang Xun'er went to a corner far from the dining table and found two stools. She sat down in the corner with Jiang Xun.

Her gaze fell on Jiang Yan, who was still gorging himself, and Jiang Xun'er suddenly felt some aversion in her heart.

She didn't understand what was wrong with her. Before, no matter how Jiang Yan ate, she would always feel very happy.

But thinking about how Jiang Yan wasn't home early this morning, but instead went to buy a bag of green tangerines, and smelled of green tangerines all over, Jiang Xun'er recalled the comic books she had read and, with reason and evidence, quietly discussed with her younger brother.

“Little brother, do you think Jiang Yan went to ‘that kind of place’? Only people who go to ‘that kind of place’ would stay out all night and then buy a bag of green tangerines to come back, right?”

Jiang Xun listened to his elder sister's words and asked confusedly, “That kind of place? What kind of place?”

Seeing Jiang Xun's innocent and naive look, Jiang Xun'er remembered that her younger brother had never left the Sunset Mountains before and was still a blank slate.

Thinking about what she was about to say to draw closer to her younger brother, she leaned in and whispered, “They are places of entertainment, where the women are not proper people. Little brother, you must never go there in the future.”

Jiang Xun felt the warm breath his elder sister exhaled near his ear, and the young man's face instantly flushed. He nodded as if he understood but didn't quite.

“Elder sister, I definitely won't go to that kind of place. Brother-in-law is such a good person; he probably wouldn't go to that kind of place either. Elder sister, you should trust brother-in-law.”

“Mother once told me that the most important thing between husband and wife is trust.”

“I want to trust him too, but his actions today are simply too suspicious.”

The two whispered in the corner. Jiang Yan's cultivation was only at Qi Training Stage Third Level, so he couldn't hear clearly.

He turned his head to look in their direction and happened to see Jiang Xun'er bringing her cherry lips close to the pretty boy's ear, and the pretty boy's face instantly turned red.

Jiang Yan recalled Jiang Mei, who had betrayed him, and the arrogant Young Peak Lord of Yin Yang Peak who had stolen his love. The anger in his heart flared up instantly.

He slammed the table fiercely and roared, “What are you two doing over there! Am I, the rightful master, not here?!”

The two who were chatting quietly were startled by Jiang Yan's sudden roar, but Jiang Xun'er quickly reacted.

“Jiang Yan, what do you mean? I'm talking to my younger brother, and you have to interfere?”

“Your younger brother? Sounds nice, but in reality, he's just some wild man you found from who knows where, right?!”

Jiang Yan had been cuckolded once, so he was particularly sensitive to such matters.

He pointed at Jiang Xun, who was still looking bewildered, and said, “Come on, tell me, do the two of you have a blood relationship? Do you?!”

Being pointed at, Jiang Xun could only quickly stand up and say, “Brother-in-law, please don't be angry. Although my elder sister and I don't have a blood relationship, my elder sister is my savior. I will definitely not interfere with your happy life together.”

“Heh, I think you, kid, have ill intentions. And you won't interfere with our happy life together.”

Jiang Yan sneered, “So what you mean is, as long as our life isn't happy, you can interfere?”

Hearing this, Jiang Xun didn't expect his well-intentioned words to be twisted by Jiang Yan in such a way, and he immediately felt at a loss.

Jiang Xun'er, who was beside him, saw her younger brother being put in such a difficult position, and Jiang Yan was still being Yin and Yang about it. She immediately stopped showing Jiang Yan any mercy.

“Jiang Yan, you truly disgust me. Do you think I don't know what you were doing when you just returned home this morning?”

“I originally wanted to expose you, but my younger brother was persuading me, telling me to trust you. He always thought you were a very good brother-in-law.”

“But now you're talking about him like this, what right do you have? Are you even a human being?!”

This was the first time Jiang Xun'er had ever gotten angry with him, and for a moment, Jiang Yan didn't know what to say.

Jiang Xun'er looked at Jiang Yan's expression and, connecting it with Jiang Yan's actions today, she only felt more and more disgusted the more she looked.

She pulled Jiang Xun's sleeve and said coldly, “Little brother, let's go. Don't bother with this twisted, rotten person.”

Jiang Xun was led away by Jiang Xun'er. Jiang Yan watched their retreating figures, so angry that he slammed the table three times.

Thankfully, his cultivation was low, and he had just gone out to relieve himself, leaving him with little Qi. Otherwise, this old, dilapidated wooden table might have already fallen apart.

On the way home, Jiang Xun'er walked very quickly. Jiang Xun saw that his elder sister was still angry, so he didn't mention anything about his brother-in-law.

When the two returned home, Jiang Xun'er hid alone in the east room. Jiang Xun stood in the courtyard, and after a long hesitation, still knocked on his elder sister's door.

Jiang Xun'er opened the door, her eyes red, clearly having just cried.

Jiang Xun hesitated, wanting to speak but not knowing how to comfort her.

Jiang Xun'er turned sideways, inviting Jiang Xun to come inside if he had something to say.

The two sat on stools, and Jiang Xun'er was the first to speak. “I'm sorry, little brother, for making you see such a scene as soon as you arrived.”

Jiang Xun understood that his elder sister was referring to him seeing the disgraceful side of his brother-in-law, Jiang Yan. He said in a muffled voice,

“Elder sister, I don't blame brother-in-law. From a Genius to a mediocre person whose cultivation couldn't advance for several years, brother-in-law must have endured a lot of pressure. It's normal for him to have Life Qi in his heart.”

“Today was my fault. I shouldn't have accompanied you to see brother-in-law. Brother-in-law... he might care about you too much, which is why he can't stand you being too close to other people.”

“Silly little brother, what are you saying? This matter is entirely Jiang Yan's problem.”

Jiang Xun'er looked at Jiang Xun, who was still blaming himself, and immediately felt a pang of heartache. “Jiang Yan is narrow-minded. Before, when Jiang Mei ran off with another man, he was dejected for a long time and even forbade me from having any contact with any male, not even talking to them.”

“It's one thing for Jiang Yan to go to a brothel himself, but he also doesn't trust me.”

“Even though I've been by his side all these years and never once changed my heart, he said such things to me today. It truly disappoints me and disgusts me.”
