Chapter 14: Someone else plays me

Atai'er had already exchanged blows with Saxony for more than a dozen rounds.

Saxony had always held the upper hand.

But Saxony's magic was also nearing its end.

"As expected of a Legendary from 500 years ago, I still can't kill you."

The flames in Count Sachsen's eye sockets flickered slightly; he truly found Atai'er's tenacity troublesome.

Atai'er was panting.

He had already used two rings in his hand, with only the last one remaining.

He shook the dagger in his hand and said,

"I still have one last trump card. It seems you might not be able to kill me today."

Count Sachsen sneered and said,

"On what grounds? Just those two little bugs you brought? Do you really think they can help you?"

Atai'er smiled slightly and said,

"Are you scared?"

"Hahahahaha, I'm scared? How could I be scared?"

Count Sachsen looked at Atai'er, took a step back, and loudly declared,

"Atai'er, don't think you're the only one with trump cards. Do you think I haven't prepared any in these 500 years?"

"Korhailon, how long are you going to wait?"

With a roar from the Lich, a hundred-meter-long Dragon Lich overturned the earth and burst forth from the city's ruins.

As its bone wings flapped, a dark green poisonous gas spread around.

Count Sachsen flew backward:

"Atai'er, do you remember the Green Dragon you killed? He's here today too."

The Dragon Lich exhaled a breath of poisonous gas mixed with cold air, heading straight for Atai'er's face.

Atai'er narrowed his eyes, slowly exhaled, and was engulfed in the breath.

The Dragon Lich circled in the air.

Count Sachsen said,

"Don't be careless, Atai'er isn't that easy to kill."

"I know his power better than you, you trash. I was personally slain by him."

The Dragon Lich spoke the most cowardly words in the most assertive tone.

It circled in the air, never descending to the ground.

And when the poisonous gas dissipated, Atai'er's figure slowly became clear. He looked at the giant dragon circling in the sky and said,

"Green Dragon attacks cause death, Lich occupies cities to resurrect the dead, Green Dragon resurrects to monitor actions, using flesh and blood for hellish sacrifices."

"Behind it is the King of Evil Dragons - Dragon Queen Tiamat."

"What, the contract of hell can't restrain that bitch?"

"Roar—"

The Dragon Lich roared, shouting at Atai'er,

"You are not worthy to mention the Dragon Queen's name."

Just then, the magic of the Count's territory began to vibrate.

The vibrations of the shattering barrier were clearly transmitted to the ears of the three.

Saxony looked into the distance in shock.

It sensed that a combination of magic crystals there had been completely destroyed.

"Go capture those two brats! I'll turn them into flesh and blood harps!"

The surrounding skeletons followed the order and quickly moved towards the direction where the magic crystals had shattered.

However, the Dragon Lich paused for a moment.

Without any hesitation, almost instinctively, it quickly ascended, flapping its wings in a panic, and swiftly flew into the distance.

In a blink of an eye, the Green Dragon Lich had fled.

Atai'er glanced in Eric's direction and slowly sighed.

What had shattered was the barrier that prohibited spatial items.

It was also the barrier that most restricted Atai'er.

"You actually succeeded."

He looked at the distant giant dragon and said regretfully,

"I originally wanted to get more information."

"Forget it, this is as far as it goes."

With that, Atai'er took off the ring in his hand and, along with a dagger, put them into his bosom.

He looked at the exasperated Count Sachsen and asked,

"You're not escaping?"

Saxony sneered and said,

"Only one barrier is broken. Do you think you can turn the world upside down?"

"Alas, if one barrier could restrict me, I would have died five hundred years ago."

Atai'er sighed, the dagger in his hand transformed into a Knight's Longsword, his gaze turned cold, and he lightly declared:

"Knight's Edict, the souls of the dead have their own place, and souls shall not be desecrated."

The Knight's Longsword instantly burst forth with silver-white light.

Like the morning sun piercing through darkness.

Count Sachsen's mind reeled.

He could hardly believe what he was seeing.

"Knight... someone like you, someone like you can actually become a Knight."

He frantically activated his authority, and the skeletons that had just left immediately surrounded Atai'er again.

"Hold him, hold him!"

Countless skeletons surged towards Atai'er. Atai'er merely swung his sword, and the skeletons blocking his path instantly turned into dust.

Seeing this, Count Sachsen rapidly chased in the direction the Dragon Lich had left.

But it was already too late.

Atai'er waved his hand, and a white Unicorn stepped through the air.

He mounted the Unicorn, and with a rainbow as a bridge, he reached Count Sachsen's back in a few steps.

One sword strike.

Count Sachsen perished.

The Ninth-Rank Lich's physical body vanished.

The enslaved skeletons, after the Lord Lich's death, also disintegrated, turning into bleached bones on the ground.

"It's a pity time was short; I didn't sense the location of your Lich's phylactery."

Atai'er looked at the sky, raising his longsword:

"Knight's Edict, power gained through righteous means is Knight's honor, and honor shall not be concealed."

Another sword strike.

The territory's barriers shattered instantly.

All restrictions on Atai'er were abolished.

Atai'er looked at the distant Dragon Lich and rode the Unicorn to pursue it.

——

Meanwhile.

Eric and Judy finally blew up the third magic crystal.

Judy gasped for breath and said,

"One barrier is broken, should we continue?"

Eric thought for a moment. There were over 50 barriers in total, and more than 150 crystals.

With their current abilities, honestly, destroying one location was already their limit.

"For the rest, let's trust Master."

Judy also nodded.

She was also very tired.

Just then, the sound of barriers shattering suddenly came from all around.

The magic of the entire Count's territory was surging wildly.

And immediately after, the skeletons in their vision disintegrated and shattered in an instant, becoming lifeless white bones on the ground.

For a moment.

Eric and Judy stood frozen.

Eric opened his mouth:

"No, is it over already?"

Judy, on Eric's back, was also stunned for a long time.

"Even all the barriers have been broken."

This—

Eric vaguely felt that whether he came to remove the barriers or not, it probably wouldn't have had much impact on this outcome.

Master played me.

Judy didn't think that much.

She braced herself on Eric's shoulders and excitedly jumped on Eric's back.

"Eric, we and Uncle Atai'er defeated the Lich! We're characters in a Legendary story now!"

Eric gave a wry smile.

He vaguely felt that his and Judy's role was probably just that tiny bit.

Maybe even none.

He could only hope they hadn't hindered things.

Judy hugged Eric's neck, affectionately bumped his cheek, and asked in confusion,

"Eric, why do you look unhappy?"

Eric smiled and said,

"No, I'm just thinking about where Father's longbow and your staff are."

Judy's eyes immediately lit up. She said,

"Right, right, right! Let's go find my staff and your bow! Giddy-up, giddy-up, run fast, Eric!"

"What do you take me for?"

"You don't care about me, run fast, or I'll whip you in a bit."

Eric slapped Judy's plump rear:

"Who's whipping whom now?"

Judy, still holding Eric's neck, immediately fell silent.

Eric had no intention of teasing the young girl. What he was thinking about now was his father's longbow.

During the fight just now, he only thought about surviving.

Now, thinking back carefully, could that skeleton holding the longbow have been his father himself?

"Let's go find our things."

"Mm."

Judy just responded softly.
