Chapter 26: Hydra

Finally, Eric and Margaret put down their weapons.

Eric confirmed again.

The Mad Frogmen here and the Mad Frogmen outside were completely two different races.

Eric looked at Judy and asked,

“How long has your teacher lived here?”

Judy scratched her head and said,

“Probably more than 300 years.”

300 years.

Eric’s mouth twitched slightly.

These Mad Frogmen had probably been trained like dogs.

One of the Mad Frogmen handed Eric a freshly caught fish, its large eyes blinking, looking like a sycophant.

Margaret still trusted Eric’s judgment. She looked at the live fish in front of her, leaned her head close to Eric’s ear, and said,

“Could it be poisoned?”

Eric rolled his eyes and said,

“Even if it’s not poisoned, would you eat raw fish?”

Judy directed the Mad Frogmen to move some wood to an open space.

The wood touched by the Mad Frogmen was covered in yellow slime.

The slime had a strong fishy smell that made one want to vomit.

Eric looked at the wood.

Could this really be lit?

Judy was the least thoughtful of the three. She picked up her staff, tapped it lightly, and the wood caught fire.

A peculiar fragrance wafted out.

Eric discovered again that the yellow slime was fish oil from a lake fish.

The three of them roasted the fish.

Only then did Judy look at the Mad Frogmen beside her and ask,

“What exactly happened? You speak first.”

The pointed-to Mad Frogmen, with snot and tears, recounted the events to everyone.

Not long after Judy left the Swamp.

The Swamp Witch, who was also the Queen of the Swamp, never appeared before the Swamp creatures again.

But the Mad Frogmen had always strictly followed the Swamp Witch's rules: no attacking humans, no living by robbery, to be self-reliant, and to be peaceful and friendly.

Until a Hydra Lizard broke into the Mad Frogmen’s palace.

It controlled the Mad Frogmen’s queen and ate the Mad Frogmen’s young. If the Mad Frogmen did not provide meat, it would eat the Mad Frogmen queen.

Having no choice, the Mad Frogmen could only attack human villages and plunder livestock.

“Croak, little princess, we didn’t hurt anyone, you must help us, croak.”

The Mad Frogmen were in tears.

For a moment, the surroundings were filled with the “croak” sounds of the Mad Frogmen.

The story was finished.

Eric looked at the roasted fish in front of him, sprinkled seasoning on it, and handed it to Judy.

Then Margaret and Eric stared intently at Judy.

Judy held the roasted fish and looked at Eric and Margaret in confusion.

Her little head spun, but she couldn't think of anything.

She held the roasted fish out to them and said,

“You two eat first?”

Eric and Margaret both shook their heads.

Judy blinked and took a bite of the roasted fish.

“How does it taste?” Margaret asked.

Judy said,

“It’s very good. The seasoning Eric prepared is the most fragrant I’ve ever tasted.”

Eric asked again,

“I added a new seasoning today. Did you taste it? Did the taste change?”

Judy shook the roasted fish again, looked up, thought for a moment, and said,

“No, it feels the same as usual.”

Judy was a child who would not lie.

Eric breathed a sigh of relief.

It wasn’t that he deliberately made little Judy a guinea pig; it was simply that the Witch class inherently possessed magic resistance and poison resistance.

If not for their physical weakness, they would be an invincible profession.

After sprinkling seasoning on the roasted fish, Eric handed the fish to Margaret and began to gnaw on his own.

And began to ponder the information.

Margaret watched Eric eat the roasted fish before she started eating.

After a while, Eric asked,

“Hydra Lizards always eat whatever they encounter. Why would it control your queen? Is this Hydra Lizard special?”

The Mad Frogmen looked at Eric and said,

“Croak, we don’t know, croak. This is the first time we’ve seen a Hydra Lizard, croak.”

“Hydra Lizards should all look the same, croak.”

“Croak, it has five heads, it must be very smart, croak.”

Although these Mad Frogmen spoke a lot, all at once.

But there was no useful information at all.

Eric asked again,

“Has it used magic?”

“No, croak.”

“Yes, croak. We couldn’t shoot through it. That must be magic, croak.”

“It can grow that big, that’s also magic, croak.”

No magic, very large.

Eric asked a few more questions and confirmed the data of this Hydra Lizard.

Its body length was about 12 meters, shoulder height at least 3 meters, and it was entirely black.

It could swallow a Mad Frogmen in one bite, and the diameter of its neck was at least 60 centimeters.

Five heads.

And the Mad Frogmen’s attack power was too low; they hadn’t even cut off a single head.

Eric knew even more.

The Hydra Lizard was a thoroughly magical creature.

If one of its heads was cut off, two would grow back, and after the battle ended, it would return to its original state.

It was very troublesome.

Moreover, a typical Hydra Lizard only had a body length of 6 meters and a shoulder height of 1.5 meters.

This one was 12 meters long, and its shoulder height was even 3 meters.

“What should we do, Eric?”

Judy looked at Eric, her large, watery eyes filled with expectation and trust.

Margaret also looked at Eric, her eyes full of determination:

“Eric, you must have thought of a plan, right?”

Eric nodded, picked up a burning piece of wood, which still emitted the smell of roasted fish.

This was not from the roasted fish that had just dripped.

Rather, it was the smell of the Mad Frogmen’s slime after burning.

It was a fish oil concoction used by the Mad Frogmen for skin care and to prevent mosquito bites, with fish oil as the main ingredient and various herbs as secondary ingredients, and it was flammable.

“Fire can inhibit the regeneration of the Hydra Lizard’s heads.”

Eric looked up at the sky again.

It was already night, and the moon had appeared.

Today was the 16th, the day the moon was fullest.

And the magic power within Eric, under the Moon Child’s talent, had already begun to boil; cultivating tonight would be extremely effective.

Likewise, tonight was also Eric’s strongest night.

Tonight, his magic would never run dry.

“We will act tonight.”

Eric looked at the Mad Frogmen beside him and said,

“I need your help. Your fish oil, and also, help set up traps.”

The Mad Frogmen agreed immediately.

Eric looked at Judy and Margaret and said,

“The battle time is compressed between midnight and 1 AM. My plan is…”

11:45 PM.

Eric took out his pocket watch, draped in his cloak, and stood on the lawn by the lake.

If someone stood beside Eric, they would be surprised to find that, apart from the extra footprints on the ground, there was no one else around the footprints.

【moon elf cloak (Rare)】

Its effect was to become invisible under moonlight.

Eric took a deep breath, calmed his restless heart, opened the pocket watch’s cover, watched the ticking second hand, and waited for the time.

11:49:57

11:49:58

11:49:59

11:50:00

Eric lifted his cloak, canceled his invisibility, raised his longbow, and shot an arrow towards the center of the lake.

“Roar——”

A roar came out. In the center of the lake, a beast rode the waves like a yacht, rushing towards Eric.

The Hydra Lizard.

An bone arrow was stuck in its body.
