Chapter 127: sun gun

The figure of the fleeing man was as if enveloped in shadow, moving swiftly and agilely in a zigzag pattern away from the carriage.

"Shoot!"

Miss Bei Ya Si reminded loudly.

"I also dare to shoot... I mean, I'm out of bullets!"

But the right hand hidden behind his back had already glowed with a faint silver light. Even if Miss Bei Ya Si discovered he was a Ring術士 today, he couldn't let the Mercury Blood member who knew his appearance escape. There was still a chance to remedy the situation if Miss Annette's plan was ruined, but if the man escaped, things would become very troublesome.

But someone was faster than Xia De.

"Damn it!"

The brown-haired girl uttered an ungraceful word. She maintained a slightly crouched posture, and the brass Destiny Ring behind her spun rapidly, creating sparks as it rubbed against the wall behind her. The golden Miracle rune, Sunlight, suddenly gleamed with spiritual light.

Her small black leather shoes left prints on the soft ground of the alley. Her crouched body leaned slightly to the right and back, while her right hand was cupped, and crackling golden lightning flashed within her palm.

Then, with a sudden surge of strength, she straightened up and threw. The streams of lightning in her hand converged into a golden spear, instantly leaving her palm and tearing through the air, leaving a dazzling golden light trail in the alley:

"Sunlight Gun!"

The lightning passed by Xia De's cheek, leaving him with a burning sensation. At the same moment, he seemed to hear the whispered prayers of a million people.

The lightning streaked through the alley, passed through the brass Destiny Ring behind the fleeing man, and accurately struck the man dodging in the shadows.

The latter cried out as he was hit squarely in the back by the Miracle Sunlight Gun. The shadows on his body quickly receded, and then he stumbled forward two steps before collapsing heavily onto the ground.

The Destiny Ring behind him dissipated into the air. He twitched once, then finally lay still. In this battle between a Four-Ring Warlock and a Second-Circle Arcanist, Miss Bei Ya Si achieved an almost complete victory.

The golden lightning flickered on the alley ground, lingering for a long time. Xia De watched in stunned silence as Miss Bei Ya Si stood up and clapped her hands. The brown-haired girl hummed, a sign of disdain for her opponent, then looked the Detective, whose clothes were stained with blood, up and down:

"What did you just see?"

"I..."

He knew that battles between Ring術士 would be quite "exciting"; at least the fighting he witnessed on the third floor of Lakeview Manor, though he was badly beaten, was very exciting. But he hadn't expected that his first time seeing a low-level Ring術士 fight could involve so many tricks.

"I think we should reintroduce ourselves."

Miss Bei Ya Si extended her hand to Xia De. Xia De hesitated for a moment, then also reached out and grasped Iluna Bayas's hand. The latter looked sternly at the young and uneasy Detective:

"Iluna Bayas, Sun and Earth Church, a Ring術士 of the righteous god, Lantern Old Man. Detective, I think it's necessary to talk to you about the true nature of this world."

But Xia De didn't want to talk; he just wanted to go home with the money hidden in his chest. Fortunately, he hadn't exposed his identity as a Letter-based Ring術士, thus not disrupting Miss Annette's plan.

"Miss Bei Ya Si, you seemed to have coughed up blood just now."

Xia De said cautiously, then put the gun of kindness back into his waistband.

After the short man got into the carriage, he immediately saw the handgun at the waist of the "sleeping" Detective. When he went to grab the handgun, a fight happened to break out outside.

He originally didn't intend to shoot, but rather wanted to wait until the fight was over before deciding. However, Xia De didn't want to put his life in someone else's hands. When he opened his eyes and resisted, the other party immediately pulled the trigger of the gun of kindness, just like the Heart Collector immediately shot when he saw him trying to roll the dice... Perhaps because this time the person using the firearm was only a low-level Ring術士, there was no need for the head to explode to ensure death, so the bullet only passed through his brow, and not as much blood splattered as last time.

Of course, when Xia De explained to Miss Bei Ya Si, he changed it to an accidental trigger pull during their struggle. Miss Bei Ya Si didn't care if there was anything suspicious about the Detective's victory. She gazed at the Detective:

"Mr. Hamilton, since you just witnessed what happened, you should be able to guess that this world is not as simple as you think."

Xia De nodded while trying to retreat, but Miss Bei Ya Si immediately took a step forward:

"According to regulations, if an ordinary person witnesses a fight between Ring術士, that memory needs to be erased."

Her voice was steady, as if she were announcing a decision. But this sentence began with "According to regulations," indicating that this time it would most likely not follow regulations, which made Xia De breathe a sigh of relief; he wouldn't have to reveal his identity.

"But according to the Church's charter, before erasing your memory, you will be asked about what happened today."

Xia De didn't retreat any further; he vaguely understood something. The incredibly powerful Miracle "Sunlight Gun" he had just witnessed was probably not a Miracle that could be mastered through normal means. Miss Bei Ya Si didn't want Xia De to tell the Church about this.

"Judging by the elements of the Miracle and the fluctuations of spirit you've witnessed, the power of the Sunlight Gun just now was close to the silver lightning used by Lasoya."

"Do you understand?"

The young brown-haired girl asked very softly. Although she was not very old and not as shrewd in handling affairs as the cunning foreigner, her performance at this moment was definitely commendable.

"Of course I understand."

Xia De also said softly, then spread his hands to show he had no ill intentions:

"Miss Bei Ya Si, I really didn't see anything today, and I really didn't discover anything, and I didn't remember anything."

He said, looking into her eyes. For a moment, Xia De noticed that his reflection in her pretty eyes was covered by a golden light trail.

"Detective, you should understand that each of us has our own secrets."

"Yes, everyone does."

Xia De nodded; he understood her meaning:

"You could kill me, and that way, no one would expose your secret. But I don't think you will, yet you also don't want me, someone who knows your secret, to exist. We've only just met today, and you can't completely trust me."

"Yes."

She looked at Xia De, scrutinizing the Detective:

"Perhaps you don't know what you just saw... That power is not something a low-level Ring術士 like me can use; it's a high-level divine Miracle..."

The last sentence was close to a murmur.

"I've heard legends of extraordinary people like you before, Miss Bei Ya Si, I understand what you mean."

He didn't intend to deceive the girl in front of him, but since she hadn't asked if he was a Ring術士, then not saying anything couldn't be considered lying.

He pointed towards the carriage:

"That man died by my gun, and I don't have a gun license. Miss Bei Ya Si, I know this is nothing to your secret, but if the police really investigate the origin of this gun, I'll be in big trouble. Yes, killing a bad person is nothing, but the origin of this gun absolutely cannot be known by the police. This gun is very dangerous, very complicated, and related to my past experiences that I don't want people to know about.

Once an investigation begins, for an ordinary person, life could be completely destroyed because of it, and the only thing I have is this peaceful life. So, you don't have to worry about me leaking your secret, because you can use the matter of this gun to destroy my life."

None of these words were false.
