Chapter 980: "Ordinary Man" Shad

“Then let me play a game with you madmen.”

Iluna said softly after taking her seat, and when she placed her hand on the large round table and looked at her opponents in the other two directions, she frowned slightly; a vast amount of information was flooding into her mind through “another me,” a very complex set of game rules.

“Miss Pa Wo said that we would have the honor of playing a game with the Chosen One, and I have been looking forward to it for a long time. Miss, I hope you have a pleasant time.”

Professor Ons still smiled, and after speaking, he said loudly:

“All the players are ready, Mr. Keeper, please begin tonight’s story.”

As soon as he finished speaking, before anything else happened, Angelina suddenly trembled and grabbed Leia’s sleeve. Then, with a clatter, as if dice had fallen to the ground, on the west side of the round table, where no chair was placed, in the darkness not illuminated by the heavenly light, a figure wrapped in a black robe and wearing a hood walked to the table, as if it had been standing in the darkness all along, waiting for the three to be seated.

No one could clearly see any of its physical features; the robe dragged on the ground, the sleeves covered its arms and hands, and under the hood was a pitch-black void.

For a moment, no one spoke. The eerie whisper element made everyone frown. The two High-Ring Sorcerers protected the three princesses, but in fact, all three had their own thoughts.

Iluna frowned. As she turned to look at the black-robed “Keeper,” her tied-up brown long hair swayed. It was not the first time the seventeen-year-old girl had faced an angel-level relic. She felt that the power displayed by this relic so far was not particularly strong.

The black-robed figure did not speak but raised its right arm, which was covered by the robe. Six ten-sided ivory dice fell from its sleeve, and the clattering sound made everyone feel their hearts changing their beating frequency with the sound.

The six dice rolled across the table towards the three and finally stopped by their hands. Each person had two, one with ten numbers from 0 to 9, and one with ten numbers from 00, 10, 20 to 90.

Professor Ons of the Truth Society picked up the dice, a smile on his lips, as if admiring an artwork in the light; the Cultists who believed in the evil god mr. doom looked down at the dice, their frowning expressions indicating something unknown; Iluna also reached out and picked up two jade-colored dice that looked like bone, and the cold sensation made her gasp.

The people around them all watched the three. Princess Margaret narrowed her eyes; she did not notice Leia observing her, while Princess Angelina, half-frightened and half-excited, hid behind Leia, biting her lip and watching the three in the light.

“sixth epoch, common era 1857, dice story collection Act 1472 — Chasing Jack the Thief. Storytellers: Isaac Ons, Felipe Dion, Iluna Bei Ya Si.”

The voice seemed to come from all directions, and Professor Ons smiled:

“The scene was chosen here for this very reason. Winning one game, achieving two victories, Miss Pa Wo’s plan is truly brilliant.”

“But how do we catch the thief sitting here? Since we are the storytellers, who are the characters in the story?”

Iluna asked in a low voice, and the next sentence made her expression change.

“Please choose an ordinary human as the controlled character. The target must be familiar to you and currently active in this area.”

“What?”

From the wide sleeve of the black-robed Keeper, a silver hourglass fell onto the table, and fine sand continuously flowed downwards. Without explanation, Iluna knew that it meant a countdown.

Professor Ons chuckled:

“I will pay a coin of wisdom for an additional choice.”

A blue coin was placed on the table:

“I choose One-Ring Warlock Jiaogeli Dius as my controlled character. He is currently at the Golden October Restaurant on Silver Cross Avenue.”

“I will also pay a coin of wisdom for an additional choice.”

Dion, the Cultists who believed in mr. doom, also said with a smile, similarly taking out a blue coin and placing it on the table:

“I choose One-Ring Warlock Lydia Penggeluo as my controlled character. She is also currently at the Golden October Restaurant on Silver Cross Avenue.”

“You’re cheating! I can only choose ordinary people, but you…”

Iluna reprimanded in a low voice.

“Young Chosen One, this is a fair game.”

Professor Ons said softly. This professor, dressed in a neat formal suit, was like a real professor in a university classroom, explaining his reasoning:

“Extra effort means extra gain. We paid with relics, and you did not, so this is fair. By the way, there isn’t much time left on the hourglass.”

He also “kindly” reminded her.

“Bei Ya Si, there are quite a few armed police officers outside right now.”

Miss Green, who had been silent, now had to quietly prompt Iluna. She placed her hand on Iluna’s shoulder, calming her down:

“Carefully recall the people you know.”

“Bei Ya Si, do you know any devout believers of the Sun Church who reside here?”

Mr. Modero also quietly reminded her, adding:

“Don’t be nervous. I’ve participated in the containment of more than one such rule-based relic. Just treat it as a game, a story. Extraordinary combat power might be very useful, but in this kind of game, devout faith can also play a role.”

“This is the Prophet Association, perhaps you can try those Diviners with high inspiration but who are not Ring術士.”

The bearded captain of the Creation Church also said softly, but he was unsure if the Chosen One was acquainted with any ordinary Diviner.

Iluna pursed her lips, watching the hourglass sand slide down in front of her. Every time she wanted to open her mouth and say a name, “another me” would prompt her whether those names could be chosen. The Ring術士’s “another me” was precisely to prevent mortal souls from directly contacting the terrifying power of such relics, so it was functioning perfectly at this moment.

“I can also give you a suggestion.”

Professor Ons said with a smile, playing with the two dice:

“The story characters we control have no self-awareness during the relic’s effect. They will only accept our commands and act according to instinct, forgetting everything after the relic’s effect ends. Therefore, you should choose a character with strong self-awareness.”

Iluna did not speak, names flashed through her mind, and she was exceptionally clear-headed at this moment:

“They need to have weapons, combat power, preferably know about the supernatural, have strong enough mental power, and not easily collapse…”

She was adapting to this peculiar rule-based relic. During her training at the Holy See, Iluna had read about some similar relics. When reading the material, she found it very interesting and fantasized about what would happen if she encountered one. This time, she really did encounter one… If her opponents weren’t “cheating,” she would still find it very interesting.

The sand in the hourglass rapidly fell, and no one else disturbed Iluna’s thoughts. Because she had thought of a name too many times tonight, that name, which did not meet the requirements, suddenly jumped into her mind, and then “another me” gave a surprising conclusion.

Iluna’s eyes widened slightly. After confirming repeatedly with the gentle voice by her ear, she turned to her colleagues and said:

“I do have the best candidate here; he is my good friend, and I am a little uneasy about involving him.”

“He will lose his memory afterward and won’t even know about the relic, Bei Ya Si. You can choose anyone you like, and the Church will handle the aftermath.”

Miss Green said softly. Iluna nodded, glanced at Leia out of the corner of her eye, and before the fine sand in the magnificent silver hourglass ran out, she spoke the name that should not have been spoken:

“Ordinary person… Xia De · Su Lun · Han Mi Er Dun, he should be at the Prophet Association right now. He should have been in this room, but I didn’t see him, but he is definitely still on this floor.”

“Ordinary person?”

Leia frowned slightly but then relaxed her brows; it was normal for anything to happen to Xia De. Little Princess Angelina thought there was nothing wrong with it; she had always believed Xia De was omnipotent. Princess Margaret, on the other hand, widened her eyes, suspecting that something major had gone wrong.

“Hamilton.”

Professor Ons thought about the name in his mind. He remembered Miss Pa Wo mentioning that she had lost to a Knight of Tobesk in rhode cards at Lakeview Manor.

After Iluna made her choice, three scrolls of parchment appeared by the hands of the three, and at the same time, densely packed building blocks fell from the sky onto the massive round table.

The falling building blocks made a rustling, strange sound. The seemingly chaotic small squares constructed a schematic map of the terrain and buildings around Yodel Palace - Saint Delan Square on the table. The Church Ring術士 who were familiar with this area could see that every detail constructed by the building blocks was exceptionally realistic.

“The dice story collection is about to begin. The parchment records the abilities of each character. When performing an action, roll the dice for judgment and gain additional bonuses based on the character’s uniqueness and abilities. Certain unique symbols can grant special powers to the controlled character to enrich the fun of the story.”

The voice still came from the darkness in all directions. The three at the table each opened the parchment by their hands. The professor and the Cultists both showed satisfied smiles; the information of a One-Ring Warlock was densely packed, which was the biggest difference between a Ring術士 and an ordinary person.

Iluna, however, worriedly opened the parchment of the “ordinary person” Xia De Hamilton. Through the rules, she knew that the people behind her could not see the content on the parchment.

“【Mortal’s Luck】 Xia De · Su Lun · Han Mi Er Dun.”

She first saw the name of the story character at the very top. “Mortal’s Luck” was the title given to each character by the story.

Then, Iluna narrowed her eyes and continued to look down, then saw letters more densely packed than a math textbook. She took a deep breath, scanned the ability list of the Four-Ring Warlock, and the various ancient characters she didn’t recognize mixed in, and finally closed the parchment with a strained face:

“Winning is not a problem, the key is to hide the fact that Xia De is a Ring術士.”

She thought to herself.

“Hamilton’s luck is very high.”

She sighed softly on the surface.

Tonight’s story officially began here.
