Chapter 43: College efforts

The Black Robe Wizard raised his hands, and what appeared to be glowing patterns flickered beneath his black robe, as dark green energy surged forth, converging into a corrosive energy ball that flew directly towards Dago.

"Such fast casting speed. An ordinary Level 3 Apprentice Wizard wouldn't have time to react at all."

A deep blue halo with flecks of purple swirled in Dago's eyes. His spiritual power surged, and his snow-white right hand, clad in a billowing robe, lightly lifted. A giant ice claw, wrapped in cold wind and swirling snow, formed in his right hand.

Countless ice energy Veins, like blood vessels, covered the ice claw, resembling the Claw of Horus.

In this battle, he didn't even activate his protective ring.

Dago extended and opened the ice claw, directly pressing it against the corrosive energy ball, which emitted a sharp, sizzling sound.

The icy pulse on the ice claw flowed with blood-like ice energy, gathering towards his palm.

Under the enhancement of Dago's transformed spiritual power, the ice energy and corrosive energy merged and neutralized each other until they completely disappeared.

Only a few green marks were left on the ice claw on Dago's right hand.

But Dago did not lower his right claw. Ice energy continued to surge out, and a point of deep blue light in his palm rapidly expanded until it formed a massive ice energy ball.

Dago hurled it out with force!

The Black Robe Wizard's eyes flashed with panic. In an extremely short time, Dago had not only extinguished his corrosive energy ball but was also able to launch an ice ball at him.

His strength was definitely much higher than his own. At this moment, he conceived the idea of escaping, and he wanted to leap away by controlling the Shadow Leopard.

He forcefully slapped the Shadow Leopard's backside, but there was no movement. He lowered his head to look at what was beneath him.

He saw that the Shadow Leopard's four legs were covered with thorny vines, and its entire body was paralyzed, unable to move.

Serena, in the corner, secretly cast Vine Technique on the Shadow Leopard with her thorny wand.

"Bang!" The energy ball directly hit the Black Robe, and a faint blue light bloomed in the night.

The man and the leopard were instantly frozen into statues by the rapidly spreading ice energy. The Black Robe, before his death, still maintained the posture of blocking with both hands in front of him, his eyes wide, with a look of disbelief on his face.

Then, he slid directly from the rooftop to the ground, shattering into ice fragments.

Dago dispelled the ice claw on his hand and gave a thumbs up to Serena, who was holding her wand below.

Then he remained on the rooftop, using Detection Art to observe the movements in the distance.

He only caught a glimpse of not only towering flames in the distance but also a thick, dark red shadow rapidly spreading.

The chilling and sinister aura, even from afar, sent shivers down his spine.

Not only that, the longer he watched, he heard a familiar sound, similar to countless people simultaneously swallowing blood in his ears, which caused a strong urge for self-destruction.

This was somewhat similar to Erzog's whispers he had heard earlier in his Spiritual Space.

In the center of that shadow, there was also an old figure chanting something. No, he should be extolling.

The intense spiritual fluctuations were immeasurably stronger than Dago's.

"A Formal Wizard-level enemy."

Dago's expression was stunned, and he murmured in shock.

Immediately after, he shouted loudly to the surrounding commoners, "Run quickly, run towards Aynak Wizarding Academy."

At the same time, Dago's spiritual power surged, and he leaped from the rooftop, landing on the ground as lightly as a bird.

He came to Serena's side, took her small hand, and ran towards Aynak Wizarding Academy.

Not long after they started running, a powerful, low-pitched wind pressure sounded above their heads. At this moment, five silver-patterned airships were seen whistling from the direction of Aynak Wizarding Academy, flying towards the battle zone in the northern part of the Town.

Dago saw a large amount of energy particles surrounding the airships, and many Academy Wizards were standing on the platforms, poised for action.

Dago breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed Aynak Wizarding Academy still had the strength to fight. He took Serena and found a safe place to watch.

A massive fireball, carrying immense heat and light, roared out from the main cannon of the largest airship, speeding towards the shadowy area.

"Boom!"

A black-red, lava-like wave of fire transformed into a giant ring of fire, spreading outwards.

Many houses were ignited by the fire ring, and the sky over the entire northern part of the Town was bathed in a fiery red glow.

Following this, more and more various wizardry spells rained down from the airships. Colorful wizardry spells, like a downpour, bombarded the shadowy area below, or the Black Robe Wizards who were scurrying about, clutching their heads.

Those were the wizardry spells cast by the Academy Wizards on the airships.

However, the heat and light immediately contracted in the next moment, consumed by the blood mist that emerged from the shadows, and an old man in a black-red robe, whose appearance was unclear, flew directly out of the blood mist.

He held a wand in his hand, appearing in the night sky, standing in mid-air, silently facing off against the five airships.

"Die or get lost!"

A majestic voice vibrated the air, carrying the pressure of a Formal Wizard, emanating from one of the largest airships.

Even Dago, on the other side of the Town, heard it clearly and felt a bit strange. Aynak Wizarding Academy had such a huge advantage, yet they didn't dare to attack the old man in the black-red robe.

Could it be that the Dark Blood Council still had some trump cards they hadn't played, which made Aynak Wizarding Academy so cautious?

The two sides confronted each other for a while, then the old man flew towards the forest, followed by a group of Black Robe Wizards running or leaping below.

This also meant that the crisis of the Town's collapse was averted, but the entire northern area of the Town was completely reduced to a sea of fire and ruins.

The five airships slowly flew back to Aynak Wizarding Academy. As they passed over Dago's head, he used Detection Art to carefully probe the spiritual pressure of the Formal Wizard.

The opponent's spiritual power was so strong that, in Dago's Detection Art's perception, it was like the dazzling light of the sun, dispelling even the surrounding darkness.

Dago's heart pounded rapidly, even more urgently than during the recent battle.

So this was the power of a Formal Wizard level, participating in city-destroying level battles as soon as they acted.

No wonder Raymond went to such lengths to become a Formal Wizard. In the face of such power, even a half-step difference felt like an unbridgeable chasm.

However, Dago regretted not seeing the Formal Wizards fight. Thinking back, it might have been that Aynak Wizarding Academy was concerned about fighting in the Town. If both sides went all out, the entire Town might have been reduced to a sea of fire and ruins.

When the sky falls, the tall ones bear it first. Dago pulled back his thoughts and looked at Serena, who was staring at her toes.

He waved his finger in front of Serena and said, "Are you watching ants? When you're done, let's go back to the Wizard Inn."

Ever since Dago took her small hand, Serena's face had been flushed, and she would occasionally cover her mouth and giggle, her soul seemingly drifting off to some fantasy land.

Serena finally recovered, stammering, "Uh, okay."

The two walked down the street, amidst countless wails, cries of pain, and curses. Many commoners had died in this battle, mostly elderly people with limited mobility.

The Dark Blood Council's Black Robe Wizards seemed to be systematically slaughtering commoners. They not only harvested their lives but also collected their bodies.

War, for the first time, unfolded before them like a purgatory, not a battle of transcendents against transcendents, but a slaughter of commoners by transcendents.

The two walked in silence, their hearts heavy, back to the Wizard Inn.
