Dago and Dean Jodes met in the air and began a one-sided slaughter of the remaining Black Robe Wizards on the ground.
Basically, no Level 3 Apprentice Wizard could withstand one of their spells; many of them were even killed by the aftermath of the battle when Dago and Jodes fought Flax.
Before long, Dago and Dean Jodes had cleared out the frenzied Black Robe Wizards.
Amidst the burning sea of fire, both of them landed on the blood-soaked streets below.
Currently, the only thing left to deal with was the mound of flesh belonging to Blood Mother Esoch, which occupied the entire Wizard Hall.
"These beasts! They're too rampant!"
Dean Jodes gasped, his voice a furious growl: "Insane! Outrageous!"
Dago nodded in agreement.
As they approached the pulsating Wizard Hall, they truly began to grasp the enormous size and power of the mound of flesh.
The sound of dark blood waves crashing and the eerie whispers from the mound of flesh constantly echoed in their ears.
Their blood began to thicken like syrup, making movement difficult.
Their mental force fields were constantly bombarded by blood energy particles, and their environmental perception was steadily declining; they could only compress their mental force fields to resist the erosion of the environment.
Even the most basic flying ability of a Formal Wizard was restricted, forcing them to approach the mound of flesh on foot.
The area around the mound of flesh became bizarre and frenzied; the two exchanged a glance, knowing they had to eliminate this source as quickly as possible.
Dago raised his Ice Crystal Magic Wand, compressing a large amount of air to the point of ignition!!!
A Flame Core Air Bullet was already poised to strike.
Behind Dean Jodes, the fire ring magic seal once again gathered immense energy fluctuations, preparing to blast the mound of flesh.
Suddenly, the charred corpse in the center of the pit moved, with a faint crackling sound first coming from its knuckles, like dry branches twisting.
Carbonized skin cracked open at the joints, and the charred corpse, Flax, leaped high from the pit, landing with a heavy thud.
The impact caused his charred, carbonized skin to flake off, revealing the writhing flesh and muscles beneath.
Half of his head was burned and caved in, and his charred lips curved into an eerie smile, as if mocking their self-importance.
He moved like a streak of crimson lightning.
Dago's pupils suddenly constricted; he didn't even understand what had happened.
"Thump!"
The writhing, fleshy hand of the charred corpse, Flax, precisely pierced through Dean Jodes's chest.
Jodes, with wide eyes, hung from Flax's left arm, crimson blood gushing from his mouth.
And what Flax's left arm clutched was Jodes's still-beating heart.
Jodes felt a "hollow tearing sensation" in his chest; he slowly lifted his head, staring fixedly at those blood-red eyes.
The fire ring magic seal behind him disintegrated with the wind, and he breathed his last in endless unwillingness.
A slightly trembling Dago fired the Flame Core Air Bullet from the tip of his Ice Crystal Magic Wand towards the mound of flesh.
The Flame Core, trailing light and heat, illuminated the panicked expression on the charred corpse Flax's face; he had gambled correctly.
The charred corpse, Flax, withdrew his writhing, fleshy left arm, swallowed Jodes's heart whole, and it erupted into pure blood energy within his body.
He once again transformed into crimson lightning, leaping towards the Flame Core, using his constantly writhing flesh to shield the Blood Mother.
The next second, golden-red flames burst forth from the flesh of the charred corpse, Flax...
"Boom—!!!!"
The moment the roar sounded, Dago, ignoring the pain, let himself be thrown to the ground by the energy storm, clinging tightly to the earth.
The explosive flames first pierced vertically, then enveloped Flax's body.
The constantly writhing fleshy body was like a giant torch, incredibly dazzling outside the Wizard Hall! It made the entire mound of flesh look like a golden mountain.
What followed was a rolling wave of heat, igniting everything flammable in the vicinity, turning the area into a sea of blood and fire.
When the roaring subsided, Dago, who was lying on the ground, cautiously raised his head; amidst the raging flames, only a slowly collapsing charred skeleton remained.
And at the center of that charred skeleton was a heart.
A still-beating heart!
"Thump! Thump! Thump…"
This… Dago's gaze instantly froze as he looked at the heart pulsating in sync with the Wizard Hall.
On its bloody, scorched surface, a dark blood crystal was embedded!
Just as Dago was still in a daze, the still-beating heart suddenly began to gush foul-smelling pus and blood from its rupture.
The tattered heart then wriggled wildly, beginning to grow pus-filled tumors.
Dense pustules completely enveloped the heart, and with the overflowing pus and flesh, it began to swell outwards...
Soon, it formed a boneless, "trunk-shaped" tumor.
The tumor ravenously devoured the scattered flesh nearby, gradually corrupting it, dissolving it, and finally completely melting into the constantly proliferating pustules and blood.
It was trying to resurrect?!
Dago, with a stunned expression, immediately got up, his body wracked with intense pain, and lunged towards Flax's corpse in the sea of fire, raising his Ice Crystal Magic Wand to rapidly condense an Air Bullet aimed at the heart.
"Bang!"
The hitting Air Bullet exploded near the tumor and heart, and the pus-mixed flesh burst outwards, spraying like a gushing geyser.
In the center of the bloody, torn trunk, the beating heart was exposed once more.
Now!
Dago, gritting his teeth, plunged directly into the sea of blood and flesh, extending his right ice claw, and with a "thump!" plunged it directly into the center of the still-expanding tumor, forcefully pulling the heart out from within.
Along with large chunks of flesh, Dago, covered in pus, tightly clutched Flax's heart, which was still beating in his palm!
Almost as soon as his ice claw grasped the heart, a sizzling sound immediately came from his palm—the pus constantly oozing from the heart was corroding his right claw.
Dago's pupils suddenly constricted; he immediately mobilized his mental power to activate the ice energy in his ice claw to envelop the entire heart, completely freezing it in ice.
However, the heart was still beating, slowly corrupting the ice energy and dissolving the ice, like an eternally hungry flesh sac.
It constantly devoured everything that approached it; even a mere touch would cause rapid corrosion and assimilation…
One could imagine that once corrupted by it, one would gradually lose oneself in this process of constant devouring and "strengthening"—flesh, organs, brain…
So, like the Ship of Theseus, was Flax still the original Flax?
Dago gazed at the heart still beating within the ice, his expression complex, and slowly raised his left hand.
The entire ice block disappeared, having been stored in his storage space.
Flax's story had completely ended.
But Dago's empty heart felt no joy of victory.
Only blood can grant eternal life to the soul… This was the ultimate fate of Flax, who had become Blood Mother Esoch's loyal dog.
What about him? What kind of end awaited him?
The colors of blood and fire filled Dago's dilated eyes.
Foul-smelling pus and blood covered every visible wall near the Wizard Hall.
Dismembered limbs, scattered corpses, soaked in pools of blood that overflowed the floor tiles, and burning flames flowed like liquid in the blood, constantly making a "sizzling" sound…
Not far away, the mound of flesh, like a sleeping infant, emitted an inexplicable allure....
Inviting Dago to enter the Wizard Hall, to embrace the Blood Mother, and become her chosen one.
Countless strange sounds filled his ears, his mind was overwhelmed with chaotic thoughts, and he felt intense unease and abnormality.
"This place is about to turn into hell; it seems I cannot stay long."
Dago, feeling a wave of nausea, frowned and thought, his head swimming.
He forced himself to approach Dean Jodes's corpse, his lips moving as if to say something, but in the end, he chose to silently put his body into his storage space.
Dago looked back at the constantly twisting and blurring outline of the Wizard Hall, accompanied by an eerie aura, signaling the arrival of an even greater crisis.
He activated the self-cleaning runes on his robe, cleaning the sticky pus from his body.
Without looking back, he began to run towards the city outskirts until he was out of Blood Mother Esoch's sphere of influence.
