Chapter 1: Traveling through time and becoming a world tree

World Tree Kandel Te… … completely dead… …

Being raised… … Source Point… … on the verge of death… …

… … Gone, good luck!

Mikelson opened his eyes, and fragmented memories flooded his mind.

World Trees, a hateful void creature.

Their wildly growing branches loved nothing more than to pierce innocent worlds, then greedily drain their World Source.

But at the same time, they were also extremely precious materials. A single leaf could grant a second life, and a branch could forge a powerful divine artifact.

Not to mention, within their World Bubbles lay endless riches! Money, power, knowledge, and even the ability to ensnare powerful and mysterious Elf maidens.

This also made countless adventurers flock to them!

And Haide Mikelson, at this moment, was half-reclining in a rocking chair woven from a World Tree.

He was petting a Siamese cat named Carbon, silently digesting the knowledge in his mind.

He was on the verge of tears; although he had always wanted a cat, it wasn't under these circumstances!

How to put it, he was now a World Tree, and a juvenile one at that.

But just a second ago, he was waiting at a crosswalk for the traffic light; how did he end up here just by taking one step?

This wouldn't be so bad, but this World Tree sapling, for some reason, had connected to Epsilon, a high-magic world that had been fighting World Tree invasions for tens of thousands of years.

To this day, this world is still connected to over a dozen adult World Trees and has even developed a complete adventurer training strategy.

And he, as a juvenile World Tree, only had a small, first-level World Bubble, which was recognized by Epsilon adventurers in recent years as a beginner's dungeon.

That small Zelant World Bubble had been repeatedly cleared by Players thousands of times.

No more grinding, he would be drained dry if they kept grinding!

This brings us to the World Tree's survival mechanism; although they can devour a world's source, they cannot do so indiscriminately.

Simply put, a World Tree weaves a World Bubble, which is what Players call a dungeon.

When a World Bubble attaches to another world, it can slowly devour a tiny bit of the world's source each day.

But this was far too slow, and after tens of thousands of years of evolution.

The World Trees began to learn to lure adventurers in, then kill them.

Thereby seizing the wisp of World Source these individuals carried.

And once the source devoured by the World Tree reached a certain proportion.

It could allow the World Bubble to fully descend upon that world, thereby plundering more source, or even controlling the world.

But high returns also came with high risks. If Players successfully cleared it or withdrew with the "bait."

Then the World Tree itself had to bear the loss, sometimes even having to give up its own source.

What a "search, fight, retreat" gameplay.

The original World Tree was like a tool tree raised by Epsilon; as long as fishing was regularly restricted, this beginner-level dungeon could be preserved long-term.

The original sapling couldn't stand such a life, and since it couldn't escape, it simply deleted its account and ran away.

That's how the unlucky Haide Mikelson came to be.

As he stroked Carbon's fluffy little head, a light green 3D map appeared before Mikelson's eyes.

It was a medieval castle surrounded by cliffs; the blue sky and white clouds looked quite beautiful.

That is, if you ignored the scattered corpses of small monsters on the ground.

The adventurers were once again returning with a full haul, and the moment they left the dungeon, the scene refreshed.

The small monsters revived again, dazed and Silly, wandering between the castle and the forest.

"Such a simple terrain. Why leave a main road for adventurers to go straight to the castle? Is the underground maze being saved for Chinese New Year?" Mikelson observed the 3D map, constantly complaining.

"Also, why are all the small monsters just spiders, slugs, and fairies? Where's the boss guarding the pass, the final boss? Why is there nothing?"

The more Mikelson looked, the angrier he got. This sapling was truly outrageous; wasn't this just giving away his World Source for free?

He spread his palm, and a light green number "253.2" appeared in his hand.

Mikelson waved his hand, fixing all the modules customized by the sapling in front of him.

【Haide Mikelson】

【Summonable Players: 50】

Mikelson's face turned green when he saw the source balance. After a rough calculation, he realized he wouldn't live more than 15 days!

Even though the sapling had tried its best to cut down expenses during its captivity.

But unless he shut down the World Bubble and slowly waited for death, a daily consumption of 20 points was mandatory.

And deploying terrain or monsters, as long as it was within 20 points, would not incur additional consumption.

Mikelson calmed himself and continued to look.

The more he looked, the angrier he got! What was the previous sapling doing? Look at those deployable creatures.

Except for Dark Wizards and Elves, all the others were weaklings. There was even this strange thing called a Villager; were they deployed to be guides for adventurers?

If they encountered a well-equipped adventurer team, fighting them would be as easy as slicing vegetables.

As for Dark Wizards and Elves.

Not to mention that Elves were his innate species, and even one death would cause him great harm.

Their 500 and 1000 source points alone made Mikelson hesitate.

One must know that those spiders and such only required one source point per day to maintain a hundred of them… …

Watching another team rush into the World Bubble, clearing it with practiced ease, Mikelson decided to change the terrain first.

Even if he couldn't defeat the adventurers, he absolutely couldn't let them clear the World Bubble dungeon and take the World Source so easily!

Just as he was about to make grand plans, Mikelson finally noticed a small line of text at the very bottom.

"Summon Players, what does this mean?"

He tried to sense it, and in an instant, Mikelson understood everything.

He could actually summon Players from Blue Star to fight for him, and most importantly, it was free.

The only cost, he estimated, would be to prepare some Villager bodies, one source point per body.

Although spiders, slugs, and even Yin Corpse could also be used.

However, he figured no Player would choose such bizarre creatures as their race.

Mikelson's mouth curved upwards. "Sure enough, the Traveling God doesn't forget every child who leaves home. I love you, Blue Star."

He hugged the green light screen and kissed it wildly.

Carbon, feeling neglected, meowed in extreme displeasure, her two small paws constantly batting at his chest.

Mikelson was in an excellent mood now and didn't mind Carbon's rebellious actions, pulling her into his arms.

"Sharing joy is better than enjoying it alone. I'm sure everyone on Blue Star has also been poisoned by various bad maps!

Come on, my dear Players! Let the adventurers of Epsilon taste the purest despair!"

As Mikelson's finger descended.

【Player Summoning in progress, countdown 1:59:59:99】

That's right, just 5 people. After Mikelson's careful consideration, bearing the bodies of 50 people would cost 50 source points, which was still too much for him right now.

But 5 people were just right. Not only that, he could even reserve spare bodies for the Players!

Hehe ~ Just wait, adventurers of Epsilon, your nightmare is about to begin!

With a gradually twisted smile, Mikelson clicked on the official forum… …
