Chapter 14: Nine meals in three days

“It’s getting cold. Cover yourself with the blanket on the sofa, don’t catch a cold.”

Zuo Feng shook his head helplessly. Zuo Feng found the missing shirt, and Da Bai Tu wore it. She played with the shirt collar with her little fingertip for an unknown number of seconds, and then the shirt disappeared again.

About five minutes later, Zuo Feng did not hear any movement from Room 1301’s door. At this time, Zuo Feng had just taken out the noodles and put them into a bowl, carefully adding two tender yellow poached eggs and sprinkling green onions. The aroma filled the air.

His attention then focused on the community entrance. He saw Yin Jiu get on the motorcycle left by the Peach Girl at the community entrance and speed away with a buzzing sound, disappearing at the end of the street. Zuo Feng retracted his gaze and sighed softly, “Yin Jiu actually left, but it’s good that he left.”

Zuo Feng really wanted to kill Yin Jiu, but he wasn’t confident. Now that he had left, it was a good thing, at least he didn’t have to guard against Yin Jiu anymore, it was just a little regrettable.

Carrying the steaming noodles, he walked towards the sofa. Da Bai Tu had already sat up impatiently, her eyes sparkling with anticipation, her small mouth slightly open, as if she had already smelled the aroma of the noodles…

In Room 1301, Yue Jiayu stared at her sister, who looked exactly like her, at the dining table. Tears welled up in her big, watery eyes, her delicate nostrils twitched slightly, and her thin little mouth pouted in a wronged manner. She tried hard to keep her tears from falling.

That was the can of food she had gotten after eight hundred rounds of wits and courage against a thief, a hooligan, an exhibitionist, and a murderer! She herself only reluctantly ate one-third of a can, but her rogue sister, as soon as she came back, directly finished an entire can!

And the water! She had cried for a long time before she managed to drink a small sip of the water collected from the fat man’s house, enduring the nausea. Her sister actually opened a large barrel of mineral water that she hadn’t even dared to touch, and poured herself two full cups!

Watching her sister enjoy it as if nothing had happened, Yue Jiayu’s heart was filled with grievance and unwillingness. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she held them back, wanting to cry so badly.

“Xiao Yu, not bad, huh? Did you miss your sister?”

Yue Jiaxue, full and satisfied, patted her stomach and casually put her arm around Yue Jiayu’s neck. Yue Jiayu stumbled, her head directly landing on Yue Jiaxue’s prominent chest.

“Room 1302 has a thief, a hooligan, an exhibitionist, and a murderer. I fought him for eight hundred rounds to get three cans, and you ate one in an instant, boo hoo…”

At this moment, Yue Jiayu could no longer hold back her tears, and the most important reason was that her sister was fine!

Yue Jiaxue ignored her crying sister; after all, her sister always loved to cry, she was used to it.

As for the hooligan, exhibitionist, thief, and murderer in Room 1302 that her sister mentioned, Yue Jiaxue was unimpressed. Although she hadn't seen the resident of 1302, he seemed to be a homebody. All day long, gaming sounds came from the house. At most, he was a lazy, pathetic loser.

As for Yue Jiayu’s claim of battling wits and courage, Yue Jiaxue really wanted to ask: Sister, are you sure you have a brain when it comes to dealing with people?

With your looks, which are the same as hers, if you really encountered a thief, a hooligan, an exhibitionist, or a murderer, would you still be safe and sound in the house now? That’s simply preposterous! However, the pathetic loser next door seems to be a decent person; he didn’t lay a hand on Yue Jiayu and even gave her food.

“Alright, older sister is so sleepy, I’ll sleep for a bit first. When I wake up, I’ll take you to eat delicious food and spicy dishes.”

Yue Jiaxue yawned and lazily walked towards the bedroom, leaving Yue Jiayu sitting alone at the dining table. She hadn’t had a good night’s sleep these past few days, and now she could finally get some peaceful rest.

Yue Jiayu looked at her sister’s back, her small mouth pouting again. Eat delicious food and spicy dishes? If she really believed what her sister said, she would probably starve nine times in three days!

Before the apocalypse, she also said she would take her shopping, but what happened? Didn't she just starve nine times in three days!

She still had to rely on herself. Yue Jiayu sniffled, wiped away her tears, and walked to the balcony. The grinding sound started again.

Yue Jiayu, who was grinding on the balcony, naturally couldn't see Yue Jiaxue, who was lying on the bed, curled up in pain, her hands tightly covering her chest, and large beads of sweat constantly rolling down her forehead.

In Room 1302, Zuo Feng and Da Bai Tu sat side by side on the sofa, each slurping a bowl of noodles.

As she ate, Da Bai Tu seemed to remember something. Her charming big eyes flickered with a mischievous light, and the corners of her mouth curved slightly upwards. Her rosy little mouth held a long noodle as she glanced at Zuo Feng. Seeing that he wasn't paying attention to her, her small left foot mischievously kicked him.

“What’s wrong?”

Zuo Feng turned his head and saw the cunning smile on Da Bai Tu’s lips, shaking his head helplessly—this Da Bai Tu was definitely going to cause trouble again. He put down his bowl and asked softly, “What mischief are you up to now?”

Sure enough, “Slurp—” Da Bai Tu slurped the long noodle into her mouth, her eyes full of charm, her nimble little tongue even lightly licking her lips: “Xiao Nan Ren, look, what do you think? Hehehehe…”

“Alright, eat your noodles obediently, we can play after you finish eating.”

Zuo Feng smiled helplessly, shook his head, and pulled out a tissue to wipe away the soup splashed on Da Bai Tu’s lips. Da Bai Tu pouted unhappily but still obediently continued to eat her noodles. Zuo Feng dotingly ruffled Da Bai Tu’s hair, his gaze as gentle as water.

Da Bai Tu had an excellent appetite, and in a few quick bites, she polished off the noodles in her bowl, patting her stomach contentedly. Her charming big eyes began to wander again.

“Splash, splash, splash!”

Outside, the pouring rain instantly fell, the raindrops hitting the balcony with a crisp sound, splashing water everywhere. Zuo Feng quickly got up; the rain had finally started, and it was time to boil water and collect rainwater.

In the kitchen, Zuo Feng was busy boiling water and washing pots and pans. Da Bai Tu hopped and skipped behind Zuo Feng, lightly leaning on his back, and asked softly, “Xiao Nan Ren, what are you busy with?”

Zuo Feng turned around and smiled, “Taking advantage of the rain to store some rainwater for daily use later.”

Da Bai Tu pressed her pretty face close to Zuo Feng’s back, feeling his body temperature, and cooed softly, “Xiao Nan Ren, I want to take a bath.”

Zuo Feng turned and smiled, then embraced her, “Okay, I’ll go clean the bathtub first, then boil some hot water. You wait on the sofa, don’t go into the kitchen, be careful not to get burned.”

Hearing that she could take a bath, Da Bai Tu’s charming big eyes instantly lit up. She obediently hopped onto the sofa, cupping her cheeks with her hands, and gazed expectantly towards the kitchen, a hopeful smile on her lips.

Zuo Feng worked quickly, and in a short while, the bathtub was clean and the hot water was ready.

Da Bai Tu impatiently jumped off the sofa and lightly skipped towards the bathroom. Zuo Feng didn't know how long this bath took—it was clearly bathwater prepared for Da Bai Tu, but Zuo Feng didn't know how he ended up bathing with her too. This bath was exceptionally long; Zuo Feng had never taken such a long bath…

In the living room, Zuo Feng lay on the sofa, holding the soft Da Bai Tu, gently stroking her wavy hair, a warmth welling up in his heart.

Looking at Da Bai Tu’s charming and alluring face, he couldn’t help but lean down and gently kiss her forehead.

Just now, the two of them had almost crossed the final boundary; if Zuo Feng hadn't restrained himself with great effort, they would have probably succumbed long ago.

The room was quiet, with only the patter of rain. Zuo Feng closed his eyes, enjoying this rare tranquility, the flutter in his heart still not settled. Da Bai Tu lay in his arms, her breathing soft, and the sound of the rain like a lullaby. In this warm atmosphere, they gradually fell into a dream.

“Knock! Knock! Knock!” Urgent knocking broke the silence. Zuo Feng woke up with a start, and Da Bai Tu also groggily lifted her head.
