Chapter 13: Yue Jiaxue (Part 2)

The next afternoon, Gong Shaoyu, as a representative, negotiated with Yue Jiaxue. Under duress, Yue Jiaxue gave up half of her food and water. However, Gong Shaoyu, having obtained the food, had no intention of stopping there. Instead, he sent people to keep a close watch on Yue Jiaxue in shifts, as half a backpack of food was simply not enough for a dozen people to share. Late at night, Yue Jiaxue, unable to fight off sleep, only dozed off for a short while. When she woke up, she found all her food and water had been stolen.

Having lost her food and water, Yue Jiaxue again suggested leaving, but was still rejected by the group. Seeing the greedy and lecherous looks in the eyes of Gong Shaoyu and some of the male students, Yue Jiaxue knew that these people had set their sights on her as well.

On the morning of the third day, the stolen food and water had already been consumed the previous night. Yue Jiaxue stared coldly at these people and surprisingly discovered that Gong Shaoyu had secretly hoarded food. She did not expose him, but instead observed him in secret. She was waiting for an opportunity, waiting for these people to become unbearably hungry. She knew that human nature was selfish, and at that time, these people would definitely not be able to remain united.

Once they fell apart, it would be her perfect chance to escape. She had to rush home as soon as possible—her twin sister was still at her house, and there was hardly any food stored there. Her sister wouldn't last more than a few days. As for relying on that naive sister to gather supplies herself? Yue Jiaxue was almost in despair. That silly girl would even happily help count money if someone sold her. She didn't understand social interaction and was timid and weak. She couldn't imagine how her sister would survive. Therefore, she had to go back!

Sure enough, by the morning of the fourth day, the hungry dozen people had completely disbanded, and no one listened to Gong Shaoyu's commands anymore. If Gong Shaoyu hadn't had a weapon in his hand, shooting an arrow to kill a fat man who tried to snatch something, thus deterring the others, even Gong Shaoyu's secretly hoarded food would have almost been taken—and it was Yue Jiaxue who revealed Gong Shaoyu's hidden food.

It is said that when one is well-fed and warm, one thinks of lust. How much lust can a person have after being hungry for a day? Yue Jiaxue was waiting for everyone to be hungry; at that time, naturally, no one would have the mind to covet her anymore.

With no food and no longer being coveted, everyone's attention turned to the food on Gong Shaoyu. This was her chance to leave! Sure enough, as Yue Jiaxue exposed Gong Shaoyu's hidden food, Gong Shaoyu was instantly isolated. To deter them, he killed the newly prominent fat man; this bloody intimidation was indeed terrifying, but he underestimated how crazy hunger could make people. As expected, by early afternoon, the dozen or so survivors began to stir like hungry wolves again. Yue Jiaxue knew that the opportunity had come...

"If you let me go, I can give you a bow and a quiver."

Yue Jiaxue's voice echoed in the training room, and the eyes of the two originally confronting sides instantly shot towards her. The original positions of the three parties were: Yue Jiaxue alone in a corner, Gong Shaoyu leading the group blocking the door. At this moment, Gong Shaoyu, isolated for hoarding food, had retreated to another corner. Those blocking the door were the dozen or so unarmed people. As long as they made way, Gong Shaoyu would not be able to stop her.

"You bitch, how dare you!"

Gong Shaoyu instantly became furious, and fear surged within him—he dared to hoard food, relying on the fact that he was the only one with a weapon besides Yue Jiaxue! If Yue Jiaxue gave the weapon to the other side, he would have no advantage! And he only had three arrows, while a quiver contained 12 arrows. Once the other side got the weapon, he would have no advantage whatsoever, especially since he had just killed someone!

In his anger and shock, Gong Shaoyu instantly raised his bow and aimed at Yue Jiaxue, but he knew it was futile. Even if he killed Yue Jiaxue, it would be useless. Once he made a move, everyone would rush forward, and he wouldn't have time to shoot a second arrow! The reason those dozen people hadn't acted yet was because no one wanted to be the one to die.

"Gong Shaoyu, I'm leaving today no matter what. If you try to stop me again, we'll just both go down!" Yue Jiaxue showed no weakness, also raising her bow in confrontation. Her clear, bright eyes were filled with frost, leaving no doubt that the girl would shoot an arrow in the next moment.

Gong Shaoyu's face was grim, lost in thought. He knew he couldn't deter Yue Jiaxue; his previous attempt was merely a subconscious reaction. The situation was now beyond his control.

Gong Shaoyu and Yue Jiaxue faced each other, while the other dozen people fell into disarray. There was only one bow; who would take it? A coach stepped forward, stating that he had good aim and should take it. The others immediately became displeased. At this point, who would willingly hand over a weapon? Who knew if this coach would be the next Gong Shaoyu? Moreover, with the weapon in one's own hand, one would have the right to speak. None of the dozen people were willing to yield...

Yue Jiaxue cast a cold glance at the bickering dozen, a hint of disdain flashing in her eyes—a rabble.

"Enough, stop arguing! You 13 people; the coach takes the bow, and the remaining 12 people each get one arrow. This is the fairest distribution, and no one should think of monopolizing it."

Yue Jiaxue's proposal was approved by these people. A bow without arrows was useless. This distribution avoided the emergence of another Gong Shaoyu and was the best solution for the current situation. Seeing this, Gong Shaoyu knew the tide had turned and slowly lowered his bow and arrows, a hint of unwillingness flashing in his eyes...

"Xiaoyu, please don't get into any trouble. Big Sister will be back very soon!"

On the highway, Yue Jiaxue, speeding along on her motorcycle, had a cold, pretty face filled with worry; everything she saw along the way made her heart tremble...

"Rumble!"

A series of muffled thunderclaps occasionally sounded from the overcast sky. It was about to rain.

"Awake? Why don't you sleep a little longer?"

Although Da Bai Tu's eyes were still closed, her delicate left foot had already started to become restless. Zuo Feng knew that the Da Bai Tu in his arms was awake. Da Bai Tu hadn't slept for long, probably only two or three hours. It should be just past noon now. Without a phone, his mind, or a watch, Zuo Feng could only roughly estimate the time.

Da Bai Tu didn't respond, only let out a lazy hum, rolled over, hugged Zuo Feng's neck, and buried her small head in Zuo Feng's chest, rubbing against him with adoration. Her long eyelashes trembled slightly, as if she was intoxicated by this rare tranquility.

"Hungry..."

After a long while, a soft murmur came from his arms, with a hint of coquetry.

Zuo Feng chuckled softly, gently stroking Da Bai Tu's hair, and whispered, "Okay, then I'll cook noodles for you, and eggs too."

Da Bai Tu hadn't eaten much for days, she needed to replenish her nutrients properly.

With eyes swirling, she pouted, "One bowl of noodles, two poached eggs. Don't make the yolks too firm, make them soft. I also want to eat canned lamb, and don't add garlic to the noodles."

"Okay, I've got it all remembered."

Zuo Feng dotingly tapped Da Bai Tu's nose, picked her up, and placed her on the soft sofa. He stood up and walked towards the kitchen, shaking his head, his eyes overflowing with indulgence: This Da Bai Tu, she's truly a tormenting little fairy.

"Vroom, vroom" A motorcycle's roar approached from a distance. Zuo Feng's gaze involuntarily went to the window, only to see a motorcycle speeding down the street. As it neared the entrance of the residential area, it executed a beautiful drift and came to a stable stop.

A girl dressed in tight athletic wear, carrying a bow and arrows on her back, agilely jumped off, her movements swift as a leopard.

Her tight clothing accentuated the girl's perfect curves. She was too fast; Zuo Feng didn't have time to get a good look at her face before the girl disappeared from his sight, leaving only a fleeting glimpse of her back and those swaying peach-shaped curves.

Zuo Feng withdrew his gaze, unable to resist touching his nose, "What a perfect Da Mi Tao!"

His gaze couldn't help but glance at Da Bai Tu on the sofa. At this moment, Da Bai Tu was lying on the sofa, propping her chin with her hands, looking at Zuo Feng with adoring eyes, her delicate left foot, predictably, wiggling proudly.
