Chapter 4: Aren’t you cold dressed like this?

Magic Protection, First Strike, Bloodline Perception, Scarlet Cloak... these four Apprentice-level spells are finally constant.

Thanks to my dear teacher, otherwise I would still be worried about finding spells from other schools.

In the Nabolei Underground Tomb, Mo Di looked at the magical aura emanating from his body and nodded with satisfaction.

It had been a month since he had... graduated, and during this time, he had been studying the legacy left by De Wei An, striving to take on the main responsibility of the Greta School as soon as possible.

The successful constant of these four Apprentice-level spells was his first step towards that goal.

Spells on the Eternity Continent are divided into four levels: Apprentice, Transcendent, Legendary, and Forbidden.

Apprentices like him can generally only cast Apprentice-level spells; anything higher is beyond their current ability.

"There's also Blood Healing Art. Although I've learned it, I haven't practiced it. It would be great if there was a Transcendent creature to let me try it out."

Learning from books is ultimately superficial, and Mo Di really wanted to practice, but unfortunately, Transcendent creatures are not that easy to encounter.

As for the Ancient Blood's interdimensional positioning, there had also been progress. Although he still didn't know when it would be completed, at least he could hear echoes from another world.

"Let's see the next arrangement... Wait, what the hell is that noise?"

A piercing sound, similar to an air-raid siren, rang in his ears. He was stunned for a moment, then realized that his alarm spell had been triggered.

Someone had broken into the Underground Tomb!

"Who is so bold as to break through the ghoul defense line and get in?" Mo Di frowned. "And it's the entrance alarm that was triggered, not the defense line alarm."

Regardless, he still picked up his axe, intending to investigate... The entrance to the Underground Tomb was located in a cave. Outside the cave, in the snow, many ghouls and alarm spells arranged by De Wei An were buried. Logically, no one should be able to break in without triggering them.

But a young girl named Julia Alvarez did it. She didn't even know they existed and just stumbled into the cave in a panic.

Perhaps, using the word "flee" would be more appropriate.

"An ancient tomb? How can there be something like this in a cave? Never mind, fleeing inside is my only chance of survival."

Julia gritted her teeth, tightened her robe, and ran into the Underground Tomb.

Behind her, it was a vast expanse of white; the blizzard had completely buried her tracks.

Several hoarse roars came from the snow, and a tall, horned, non-human silhouette loomed in and out of the wind and snow.

Not long after breaking into the Underground Tomb, Julia encountered big trouble.

This Underground Tomb clearly had an owner. As soon as she entered, she triggered a spell that had been set up long ago.

Several blood-red thorns grew wildly from cracks in the wall, coiling around her ankles.

The sharp thorns pierced her fair skin, and the blood thorns greedily sucked the flowing blood.

"Damn it, what kind of spell is this?" Julia bit her lip. This delicate young lady usually didn't pay much attention to magic, preferring to spend her time on social events among nobles.

Now, however, she only regretted not listening carefully to her tutor and stepping right into a magic trap.

With the blood thorns wrapped around her, she dared not move rashly, racking her brain to search for a way out from her meager magical knowledge.

"A noble lady?"

A slightly hoarse male voice sounded, and Julia's heart skipped a beat. She looked up and saw a humanoid silhouette emerge from the shadows.

Under the dim yellow light, a slightly pale face came into view. Combined with the environment, she couldn't help but wonder if the man in front of her had just crawled out of a grave.

Despite his pale skin, the man had no feminine aura whatsoever.

The scar across his left eye, coupled with his resolute gaze, made her subconsciously believe that this was a trustworthy old warrior.

"You are..."

Just as she was about to ask, the man in front of her spoke first: "Aren't you cold dressed like that?"

Mo Di looked her up and down.

First, a pair of slender legs wrapped in black over-the-knee stockings, then a purple short skirt under a luxurious robe, with a strip of fair skin visible between the skirt and the stockings.

'Where did she get these black stockings? And this art style is a bit different from mine... it feels like a two-dimensional character.'

Just by looking at her lower body, Mo Di could barely suppress his urge to complain, subconsciously ignoring her upper body.

He suddenly remembered that the 【Old Eight's Secret Family Bucket】 contained a certain laboratory module, and those clothes and art styles that didn't fit the current era probably came from there.

'It's just that this face is a bit lacking; it feels... not as good as De Wei An's.'

Julia on the other side was also quite embarrassed, as she hadn't expected him to ask that.

If it weren't for the hurried elopement, she would have wanted to change into warmer clothes. Besides, when she first escaped from Frost Ember Territory, she hadn't expected to suddenly encounter a blizzard.

She and her eloping partner were not only trapped and lost in the snow but also fell into a predicament of hunger and cold. Finally, something horrifying even happened.

"Can you please unlock your spell first?" Julia gestured down.

The black stockings wrapped around her legs were torn by the blood thorns, and blood was continuously flowing from the wounds.

"I'm afraid not, unless you first state your identity and purpose." Mo Di would not give her preferential treatment because of her appearance and gender; instead, he secretly prepared his spells.

"You...!" Julia, who had been pampered since childhood, had never been treated this way. But thinking that she was now dependent on someone else, she could only bury her anger and had no choice but to compromise.

"My name is Julia Alvarez..."

Alvarez, that was the surname of the Lord of Frost Ember Territory.

Just as Mo Di realized this, he heard even more shocking news.

This Lord of Frost Ember Territory's most beloved youngest daughter had actually eloped with her knight.

He should have been shocked, but thinking about the outrageous plots he had experienced, he suddenly felt that this was nothing.

It felt... not as hard to bear as De Wei An's redemption arc.

In this world, there are always such people, and he might encounter even more unbearable existences.

"So, where's your little boyfriend?" Mo Di showed an interested look.

"He, he suddenly went mad," Julia's voice was low, her eyes filled with sadness. "We got lost and were trapped in a cave by a blizzard, cold and hungry.

He seemed to have been driven mad by hunger, and in the end, he even tried to eat me."

So hungry he wanted to eat people?

Mo Di understood, not surprised.

Human nature cannot withstand testing. He had seen many similar horrifying incidents in the Nabolei Underground Tomb over the past two years.

"I used a spell scroll I brought from home to temporarily trap him and took the opportunity to run out. I don't know how I ended up here."

Julia continued to explain, her expression now turning to fear.

"But he didn't give up. He turned into a monster. He's still chasing me!"

As soon as her voice fell, a gust of cold wind, mixed with snowflakes, blew into the Underground Tomb.

She widened her eyes, her lips trembling a few times: "He..."

"He's here," Mo Di said expressionlessly. "You brought the monster to my home."

The alarm spell at the entrance was triggered again, and with the cold wind mixed with evil power, he realized that the newcomer meant trouble.

An artificial blizzard surged in from outside. Snowflakes fell on the two of them, carrying a strange and evil magic that sapped their strength.

Negative emotions such as irritation, fear, and tension arose in his heart for no reason, but a second later, Mo Di calmed his mind.

Mind regulation was a mandatory course for the Greta School; apprentices who failed to master it would be expelled by De Wei An for being unable to control their emotions.

Magic Protection and Scarlet Cloak, these two constant spells, activated on their own, blocking the strength-sapping wind and snow.

Julia, though covered by his Magic Protection, still shivered from the cold. Coupled with excessive blood loss and days of hunger, her vision was now blurring, and her legs were weak.

"Find a place to hide yourself," Mo Di released the blood thorns entwined around her legs. "I won't be able to look after you if a fight breaks out."

Upon hearing this, Julia reluctantly moved her feet and hid behind a stone coffin in the corner.

The wind howled, and the blizzard surging in from outside almost turned the entire tomb chamber white.

Mo Di stood in the snow, looking straight ahead, only to see a blurry black figure walking towards him.

Tall and gaunt, like a withered corpse, with dead gray skin covering its skeleton. Its lower body was humanoid, but its neck was topped with a horned deer head. Its flesh was highly decayed, like a living corpse that had just crawled out of a tomb.

"Wendigo." Mo Di softly uttered its name.

Wendigos exist on the Eternity Continent, especially in the North.

Humans trapped in ice and snow, once they resort to cannibalism, may attract evil spirits to possess them, thus transforming into Wendigos.

There is also another theory that the possession by evil spirits causes humans to develop cannibalistic thoughts, which then leads to the birth of Wendigos.

'Simple cannibalism wouldn't cause the human body to mutate to this extent; the possession by evil spirits is key.' Mo Di licked his dry lips, developing an interest in the Wendigo.

If he remembered correctly, a Wendigo should be considered a Transcendent creature, and its bloodline was very valuable.

He wanted to put the Wendigo on the dissection table, and the other party also wanted to tear him open.

"Meat... I want fresh meat!" The Wendigo let out a piercing shriek, its eyes, which were only whites, instantly turning scarlet.

Many black figures rushed out from the blizzard behind it. They were extremely fast, reaching Mo Di in the blink of an eye.

'Ghouls? No, they are aberrant ghosts twisted and mutated by the Wendigo.'

The same tall, gaunt bodies, pale skin, and blue eyes made Mo Di instantly recognize the origin of these creatures.

'No wonder the first defense line at the entrance didn't work. It turns out the ghouls were all mutated by the Wendigo, and the alarm spells there were probably instantly paralyzed by its unknown magic.'

These mutated aberrant ghosts were more powerful than ghouls, difficult to harm with ordinary flames, and ordinary cold weapons were also ineffective against them.

"But my Blood Burning Art is not among those."

Mo Di raised his hand slightly, and a large number of blood thorns immediately sprouted from the floor and wall cracks, coiling around the aberrant ghosts faster than they could react.

In an instant, blood flames ignited on the blood thorns, easily piercing the aberrant ghosts' skin, allowing the blood flames to spread inward.

The combination of Sinful Blood Thorns and Blood Burning Art, these two Apprentice-level spells, produced an excellent reaction.

Blood flames made the blood thorns unstoppable, and after the blood thorns cut open the enemy's flesh, the blood flames could burn the enemy's flesh, burning ever more fiercely.

The aberrant ghosts roared in anger, but they were bound in place by the blood thorns, only able to endure the scorching of the blood flames.

Seeing that the aberrant ghosts sent out were ineffective, the previously motionless Wendigo moved.

In a flash, its tall body rushed in front of Mo Di, and its ice-covered claws swung down, intending to tear the enemy to shreds.
