Chapter 2: Dumbledore's conspiracy

The next morning.

“Knock, knock, knock…”

A rapid knocking sound startled Brook awake from his sleep.

He rubbed his sleepy eyes.

Last night’s actions had left him exhausted, and he just wanted to sleep a little longer.

“Who is it! Can’t a guy get some sleep?”

He scratched his backside and casually wrapped the quilt around his waist.

With his feet, whiter than 99.9% of young girls', exposed, he ambled towards the door.

As the door opened, an old man wearing half-moon spectacles and a greyish-white robe stood there.

His half-meter long white beard, tied with a pink bow, was quite eye-catching.

The old man was smiling as he looked at the yawning Brook.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Lott.”

Brook’s heart skipped a beat, his pupils dilated, and some memories flashed in his mind.

“!!!∑(°Д°ノ)ノ Dumbledore?!”

“You know me?”

A glint flashed in Dumbledore’s eyes, and a profound smile hung on his face.

This was getting more and more interesting.

“Won’t you invite me in?”

Brook didn’t move, only looking at Dumbledore with confusion.

He shouldn't have done anything to provoke this person.

Suddenly, his body uncontrollably stepped back two paces, clearing the doorway.

Dumbledore then smoothly walked into the house.

Brook frowned slightly.

This visitor meant trouble!

“Headmaster Dumbledore, please have a seat.”

“It seems I’ve disturbed Mr. Lott’s rest.”

Dumbledore smiled, picked up a candy from the coffee table, and put it in his mouth.

He made himself completely at home.

“What can I do for you?”

Brook casually pushed the plate full of candies towards Dumbledore.

He didn’t like sweets; these candies were prepared for Hermione.

Hermione’s parents were both dentists and absolutely forbade her from eating candy.

So, the little girl often secretly ran to Brook’s house to sneak some candy.

“Mr. Lott, do you need to change your clothes?”

“ ̄□ ̄||”

Brook was a little embarrassed. Just as he was about to get up and change, Dumbledore pulled out his wand.

He elegantly flicked his wrist in the air.

The clothes that had been tossed on the bed instantly appeared on Brook’s body.

Brook’s eyes narrowed slightly.

As the owner of the Door-Door Fruit, he clearly felt the spatial fluctuation.

It seemed like he was helping him get dressed, but it was also a display of power.

“Thank you. What exactly do you want from me?”

“I’ve come to deliver your Hogwarts acceptance letter.”

As Dumbledore spoke, an envelope flew in front of Brook.

“You can take a look first.”

He peeled another candy and quickly popped it into his mouth.

Brook directly flipped to the back.

The wax seal in the middle was a capital H.

Around it were four animal patterns: a lion, a snake, an eagle, and a badger.

He took out the letter and quickly scanned it.

An acceptance letter, plus a list of required books and supplies.

“Principal, I don’t wish to study magic, so unfortunately…”

“Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans? What a nostalgic taste.”

Dumbledore narrowed his eyes, as if savoring the deliciousness the candy brought him.

“Glad you like them.”

“Could you give me some?”

“Of course.”

“I can’t just accept your gift for free. How about I tell you a story in exchange?”

Brook made a gesture for him to continue.

“Last night, there was an interesting robbery at Lloyds Bank. A young man in a black cloak used a very peculiar spatial magic to steal a large amount of gold bars, jewels, and pounds.”

Brook’s heart sank.

He was discovered.

How could something from the Muggle world alarm Dumbledore?

Dumbledore paused, his gaze seemingly inadvertently sweeping over Brook.

“That person’s build was similar to yours.”

Brook’s face remained calm.

“You even manage affairs in the Muggle world?”

“You not only know me, but you also know ‘Muggles’.”

Dumbledore’s deep blue eyes looked at Brook with a sense of pressure.

Brook’s expression changed slightly. Just as he was about to make an excuse, Dumbledore continued speaking on his own.

“Oh, you have a distant relative who is a Wizard, and perhaps you learned about these things from them. Is that right?”

Brook coughed twice, “Yes.”

“That bank happened to have shares from a pure-blood family. The Ministry of Magic has already launched an investigation, but that spatial magic is too clever, even I couldn’t find any traces.”

Brook discreetly leaned back in his seat.

His hand was secretly hidden behind his back, ready to activate his Door-Door Fruit to escape at any moment.

If they really hadn’t found anything, why would this old man come knocking directly?

Although his memory of the Harry Potter plot wasn’t very clear.

He knew that sending letters was the job of the little Scottish fat chicken.

When did it become Dumbledore’s turn to personally come?

However, Dumbledore, whether intentionally or not, picked up the wand he had set aside and began to toy with it in his hand.

“The consequences of violating the international statute of secrecy are very serious. Have you heard of Azkaban? There are Dementors there; they suck away the prisoners’ happiness every day. It’s truly terrifying.”

After Dumbledore finished speaking, he even made a scared expression.

Brook was momentarily dazed.

The old man’s appearance, the more he looked, the more he resembled Kizaru.

And he was using Azkaban to threaten him.

(╯-_-)╯╧╧

Was he, Brook, someone who was easily scared?

“I… I am honored to receive Hogwarts’ invitation. I will diligently study magic. Today, I am proud of Hogwarts, and in the future, Hogwarts will be proud of me.”

It wasn’t that Brook was cowardly.

Mainly, the probability of escaping was too low.

If he went, he’d stay at the school for seven years.

If he didn’t go, he’d be sent to Azkaban.

Even a fool would know what to choose.

Besides, as soon as this old man left, he would run away.

He didn’t believe it.

This old man couldn’t possibly chase him all over the world.

“Then write your reply. Hogwarts looks forward to your arrival.”

Dumbledore’s deep blue eyes became even more profound.

“Write what reply?”

“Of course, write your reply agreeing to attend Hogwarts.”

“Haven’t you already known my decision?”

“But the reply still needs to be written.”

Dumbledore’s tone was serious.

Brook felt like his brain was about to smoke.

No need to save it anymore.

Was this also a kind of magic?

If he wrote the reply, he would sign some kind of contract with Hogwarts.

And he would have to go?

Then how could he run away?

The corner of Dumbledore’s mouth was harder to suppress than an AK.

The smarter a person was, the more they thought.

He would have originally made Brook write a reply anyway.

But it was because he found it troublesome.

If he didn’t receive a reply from a young Wizard, the Quill of Acceptance would constantly prompt him to send an acceptance letter.

Although he could solve it, it was still troublesome, wasn't it?

If he used this matter to add another constraint to Brook.

Wouldn't that kill two birds with one stone?

As for the bank robbery.

If he hadn't been interested in that peculiar spatial magic and Brook himself.

Just one pure-blood family wouldn't have been able to get him to act.
