Chapter 18: Hairless Ho-oh

Yu Feng could feel that Ho-Oh, flying in the sky, paused for a moment, but quickly adjusted its flight, making it impossible to tell it had done anything without a close look.

“That’s not a Shiny Spearow; that’s the legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh, which a person might not even see once in their lifetime under normal circumstances.”

Yu Feng rubbed his forehead; he had overlooked the fact that Ho-Oh’s legend didn’t exist in their previous region.

Instead, they had Lord Xerneas, the God of Life, and Yveltal, the God of Death, although Ho-Oh also seemed to be a God of Life?

“Kirlia? (Are you saying this Shiny Spearow is a legendary Pokémon, just like Lord Xerneas?)”

Shiny Kirlia pointed incredulously at the departing Ho-Oh. She couldn't believe such an ugly Shiny Spearow was a legendary Pokémon, just like their Lord Xerneas.

“Yes, I remember Ho-Oh also having the title God of Life, right?”

Yu Feng said with some uncertainty. After all, the timeline was a bit distant, and even with Psychic abilities to aid in recalling past events, he would inevitably forget some things.

After all, it had been about 30 years since he first saw a legendary Pokémon, right? Especially since Ho-Oh’s appearance rate was low, it was perfectly normal not to remember.

“Kirlia!!! (Are you saying this ugly Shiny Spearow is also a God of Life, just like Lord Xerneas!!!)”

Upon hearing Yu Feng’s words, Shiny Kirlia felt as if her worldview had collapsed.

This ugly Fearow… oh no, Ho-Oh, was actually a God of Life, just like the great Lord Xerneas?

Life... Lord Xerneas above, what demonic whisper had she just heard?

Yu Feng touched his cheek, looking at his somewhat distraught Lao Mei. Honestly, he didn't know why, but he also felt Ho-Oh wasn't worthy of comparison to Xerneas.

He hadn't felt this way before, but after she evolved into Kirlia, he felt Ho-Oh wasn't fit to be compared to Xerneas.

Could it be because of the Fairy-type? It wasn't impossible, as Xerneas had opened the door to the Fairy-type, but this required more verification.

Ho-Oh, flying slowly in the sky, glanced at Yu Feng below, shook its wings, and two iridescent feathers drifted down in two different directions.

Normally, the dropping of a few feathers wouldn't attract much attention, as bird Pokémon in the entire forest dropped at least eight or ten thousand feathers daily.

But these two feathers were different; the colorful light they emitted was as eye-catching as a large neon sign.

“I know, I know, stop blinding me.”

Yu Feng rubbed his teary eyes, which had been dazed by the feather, feeling a bit speechless.

After seeing Yu Feng notice it, the light on the feather softened, flickering as if inviting him to take it.

For the sake of his eyes, Yu Feng still took the feather.

Once the Rainbow Wing was in Yu Feng’s hand, its surrounding light dimmed.

Unexpectedly, Yu Feng had thought Ho-Oh’s feathers would be no different from Pidgey’s, but in fact, Ho-Oh’s feathers were neither easily broken like those of ordinary bird Pokémon nor as hard as Lugia’s.

Instead, they were like jade. Shiny Kirlia, who had been sulking nearby, also noticed the feather and came to Yu Feng’s side, asking curiously, “Kirlia? (What is this? That Ho-Oh’s feather?)”

“Yes, it’s like the antlers Xerneas sheds in our region.

But you actually saw it? I thought you hadn't noticed.”

Yu Feng raised an eyebrow. He wasn’t surprised Ho-Oh would give him a Rainbow Wing, as his and Lao Mei’s existence represented the possibility of harmonious coexistence between humans and Pokémon.

He was just surprised his Lao Mei had noticed this, as she usually paid little attention to external matters when she started sulking.

Shiny Kirlia’s gaze seemed to say, “Do you think I’m blind? It would be strange not to see something so shiny.”

“Hey, one isn’t enough!”

Yu Feng ignored Lao Mei’s shocked gaze and shouted loudly in the direction Ho-Oh had flown off.

Shiny Kirlia was already numb. Although she was somewhat incredulous that Ho-Oh and Xerneas shared a title, she only dared to grumble softly.

Was her older brother that brave? He actually dared to make demands of a deity.

Ho-Oh, still far away, paused again, and another feather fell towards Yu Feng, as if afraid Yu Feng would say something else.

Ho-Oh changed its previously slow flight speed and disappeared into the horizon in the blink of an eye.

“Tsk, it runs really fast. Two feathers are simply not enough.”

Yu Feng clicked his tongue. Although two feathers were good, they weren’t enough, no matter how he thought about it.

Not to mention that Ho-Oh’s feathers, when burned, could turn into Sacred Ash capable of reviving creatures. What if they could comprehend Sacred Fire? This would be an epic enhancement for both Lao Mei and Charmander.

As for why he mentioned Charmander and Shiny Kirlia, it was a joke—with only two, who else would he give them to?

To himself?

The problem was he was a Trainer and didn't need to go on stage to battle Pokémon. As for so-called wild battles, it was a joke—how many people in the entire Pokémon world could beat him?

While Yu Feng was thinking, Shiny Kirlia’s gaze grew increasingly adoring.

Her older brother had taken great care of her since childhood. He bore the hardships, and she ate the good food first. Although ever since their mother told them about their relationship, her older brother hadn't been as enthusiastic.

But he still took very good care of her. Now, he was making demands of a legendary Pokémon, just like Lord Xerneas, and most importantly, it actually gave in.

So, I will protect my older brother!!! Those bad people shouldn't even think of touching a single hair on him.

Yu Feng, beside her, didn’t know what his Lao Mei was thinking. After briefly allocating the ownership of these two feathers, he looked at the rainbow still in the sky.

Since Ho-Oh appeared and actually gave him extra feathers, it meant this worldview leaned more towards the anime.

Otherwise, Ho-Oh’s response just now might have been a Flamethrower.

This was actually good news; there wouldn't be any so-called Rainbow Team Rockets or that Swinub beating up Ho-Oh with Pryce.

Although the Mewtwo experiment was equally dangerous, and Mewtwo probably could discern his identity.

Well, these were matters for much later. For now, he still needed to consider why his family wanted them to go back again.

After tidying up the tent and other things with Indeedee, Yu Feng injected his Psychic power into the token.

Instantly, he and Shiny Kirlia disappeared from Viridian Forest, leaving only the indentations from the tent stakes, proving someone had been there before.
