Chapter 5: 320 evolution points.

While he was pondering, James's urgent voice suddenly came through Danilova's and the others' earpieces: "Danilova, we're retreating towards you, get ready to provide support!"

"Understood, sir."

Danilova and her two companions immediately entered combat mode. For safety, they temporarily opened the door just a crack.

Su Mu instantly stood up, gripping his pistol.

Through the bulletproof glass on the door, he saw Alice, Spence, and Matt sprinting towards them, followed by James, Kaplan, and Rain. The three of them were retreating and firing, shooting down the swarming zombies.

He couldn't help but grumble in his heart: Sure enough, following the protagonist leads to danger everywhere.

He, along with Danilova and two other nameless extras who were originally supposed to die in the laser corridor, stayed here and didn't even see a shadow of a zombie.

But those who followed Alice were being chased by a group of mad zombies; this is what you call protagonist treatment.

The thought that anyone who got close to Alice never came to a good end.

He only wanted to stay away from her.

Danilova watched Alice and the others approaching and pulled the door open wide.

Alice was the first to rush in, followed by Matt and Spence. James and his two companions retreated and fired, only flashing through the door at the last moment.

"Close the door! Close it quickly!" James shouted.

The moment the alloy door slammed shut, the zombies crashed against it with a dull thud, making the walls tremble slightly.

Su Mu leaned against the door, listening to the continuous roars from outside, feeling his heart pound wildly.

He had just killed another zombie.

He had now killed a total of twenty-two zombies, at the cost of emptying two magazines.

Firing thirty bullets and missing eight was acceptable for someone holding a gun for the first time.

He still had one full magazine, fifteen bullets.

His evolution points had now increased to 320 points.

Seeing James and his group all safely inside, Danilova finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She subconsciously scanned the room and suddenly noticed that Jedi, who usually flirted with Rain, was missing.

She couldn't help but ask, "Where's Jedi?"

"In the cafeteria, we were surrounded by zombies near the elevator, preparing to evacuate through it. Jedi was covering our retreat with his back to the elevator, but when the elevator opened, it was full of zombies."

"He was dragged inside by a group of zombies, and we couldn't save him," James said with a grave expression.

Recalling that scene now still made him break out in a cold sweat.

The pain of being eaten alive by zombies, just thinking about it made one's scalp tingle.

For a moment, the room fell into a deadly silence.

"What do we do now?" Alice broke the silence, walking towards another closed door. "Can we get out through this door?"

"No, no, no, there are a lot of zombies out there!" Kaplan quickly stopped her.

"What about that one?" Alice pointed to the laser corridor.

"Dead end. Red Queen's main server room has no exit."

Spence was still fantasizing about staying put, losing contact, and waiting for rescue.

Kaplan and Rain explained with bitter smiles that if they didn't leave in time, they would be sealed inside.

Seeing that this wouldn't work, and neither would that.

Alice looked at Su Mu with anticipation. Since he knew the zombies' weakness in advance, he probably knew something: "Do you know where there's an exit?"

Su Mu shook his head, "I don't know. I only saw the cultivation tanks in the cafeteria just now and remembered some fragmented memories."

"However, I think the AI Red Queen should know!"

"It's the central hub of the Hive."

In fact, Su Mu knew that the server room had passages to other places. After all, in "The Final Chapter," Alice entered the main server room through other areas, then passed through the laser corridor from the main server room to reach here.

Although he didn't know how to open them, Red Queen definitely did.

Also, beneath the three computers in front of him, where the Umbrella Corporation executives were in cryogenic sleep, there must be other exits leading to the surface.

But he wouldn't say it.

These people, except for Matt, were probably all clones, and their lives and deaths had nothing to do with him.

He needed Alice to restart Red Queen.

Hearing Su Mu's words, Alice's eyes lit up. She picked up Kaplan's backpack from the computer desk and walked towards the main server room.

The others quickly followed. In the face of life and death, the mission to shut down Red Queen was not important.

They just wanted to survive and bring the truth inside the Hive out.

Su Mu constantly watched and kept his distance from the bitten Rain. Currently, the only danger in the room was her.

If it weren't for the consideration that killing her before she turned into a zombie would make her teammates misunderstand him and become wary.

He really wanted to just end this hidden danger with one shot.

Inside the server room, Alice reinserted Red Queen's motherboard into the slot.

"Oi, we meet again. I guess things have gotten out of control," Red Queen said mockingly as soon as she restarted.

"Tell us what exactly is going on?" Rain, thinking of Jedi being eaten alive by zombies, asked with suppressed grief...

Su Mu stood quietly to the side, watching Alice and the others ask Red Queen various questions, as well as about safe exits.

Just like in the plot.

Under the threat of burning down the main server, Red Queen provided a seemingly viable escape route.

There was a floor panel in the laser corridor that could be opened, revealing a hydroelectric pipe tunnel below, which could bypass the zombies outside the door.

When James bent down to open that floor panel, revealing the tunnel below.

Su Mu walked up to Kaplan: "I'm not going out. I'll stay here and watch Red Queen for you."

"Give me the override remote and the earpiece. If it shows any abnormalities, you tell me through the earpiece, and I'll press the button to fry it."

"You..." Kaplan was about to speak and persuade.

Su Mu raised his hand to interrupt: "My mind is made up, no need to persuade me."

"Time is running out. You should leave as soon as possible. You must bring the truth from here out."

Seeing his resolute attitude, everyone exchanged glances and said no more.

They and Su Mu were merely chance acquaintances, not even knowing his name. At this critical moment of life and death, no one wanted to waste time.

Since the other party volunteered to stay behind and cover their retreat, they couldn't very well force him to leave.

Moreover, having someone in the server room to cover their retreat posed a greater threat to Red Queen and was indeed more secure.

Alice was touched by Su Mu's spirit of sacrifice and gave him a big hug.

Kaplan handed the earpiece and the override remote to Su Mu, instructing him on how to use them, then followed James and the others down the iron ladder one by one.

When everyone disappeared into the tunnel below.

Su Mu immediately covered the floor panel and locked it, then walked into Red Queen's server room.

"Why aren't you leaving with them?"

"There's no food here; you'll starve to death," Red Queen's childlike electronic voice echoed in the server room.

Su Mu's lips curved into a smile: "Because you gave them a death route. There are a lot of zombies in the tunnel below, and following them would be very dangerous."
