Chapter 5: Oh no, is Huang Tao the White King?
While Xu Lie was caught in a cycle of falling asleep after creating a clone and waking up to continue making more, Xia Mi happily returned to Nibelungen, clutching two bags of potato chips.
Although the human world was fresh and interesting, living in the Preparatory Class, where slaying dragons was their mission, made Xia Mi feel somewhat uncomfortable.
It was most relaxing to return home, where she could shed all her disguises and reveal her true self.
"Roar! Big Sister!" The moment Xia Mi stepped into the vast space at the end of the subway tunnel, Fenrir stretched his neck like a loyal dog, his enormous dragon head lunging directly at her.
He looked much like a husky in a dog-owning family, rushing to greet its owner upon their return home.
The enthusiastic husky's charge was unceremoniously smacked away by Xia Mi.
It was a starkly contrasting scene: the tiny girl's gentle slap sent a dragon head larger than a truck's cab sliding several meters sideways.
Any ordinary person witnessing this would undoubtedly question reality, wondering how such immense power could reside within a small human body.
Fenrir, however, was accustomed to Xia Mi's actions and showed no sign of anger; his fearsome, bony face instead wore a foolish, fawning grin.
He actively tried to lean against Xia Mi again, wanting to rub against her.
Xia Mi had no way of dealing with her brother; he had been like this for a very, very long time, unable to distinguish between elder and younger, calling his younger sister 'Big Sister,' and it was impossible to correct him.
She could only listen with a helpless expression, letting Fenrir rub against her twice. Seeing that her clothes were about to be torn, she finally swung out a second slap, pushing Fenrir's head away.
"Watch out! These clothes are expensive!"
Even as the King of Earth and Mountains, whose status was second only to the Black and White Kings, Xia Mi still couldn't escape the predicament of being short on funds.
She usually had to work part-time to make ends meet, only occasionally able to buy Fenrir some chips and cola.
If her clothes were torn, how much more money would she have to spend on new ones?
Fenrir seemed to have had enough rubbing. He lifted his massive head and glanced at the tunnel Xia Mi had come through, then his nose twitched: "Eh?"
"Big Sister, didn't Huang Tao come with you?"
Xia Mi, who had been looking down, checking her clothes, froze.
"Clatter," went the two bags of chips as they fell to the ground.
Xia Mi, looking up again, had a grave expression; the relaxed feeling of being home was gone.
"Huang Tao, who is that?"
Fenrir was also bewildered: "Your friend, Big Sister, Huang Tao."
Xia Mi unconsciously clenched her hands, her face ashen. Damn it! A stranger had broken into Nibelungen and deceived Fenrir, and she hadn't even noticed?
Could it be that bastard Odin?!
No, according to Fenrir, this so-called Huang Tao was her friend, not a former sibling.
That meant he wasn't one of the Four Sovereigns?
Then how could he have snuck in without her knowing?
The more she thought, the angrier she became. Someone managed to infiltrate Nibelungen without her knowledge; what if her foolish brother was killed by them?!
Just considering that possibility made Xia Mi's heart ache uncontrollably!
Her silver teeth clenched, a king's fury surged, and a thick killing intent permeated the entire subway tunnel.
The Kamaitachi Queen guarding the Door and countless Kamaitachi fell to their knees, trembling with fear. Again?
Being scared so many times in just two days, even the Kamaitachi couldn't handle it.
Xia Mi, brainstorming furiously, couldn't make sense of it. She took two steps forward and firmly gripped the bony protrusion on Fenrir's face with one hand: "When did he come?"
"Why do you think he's my friend?"
Fenrir didn't dare to smile now. He could feel it; Big Sister was very angry! Very furious!
"Roar, Big Sister, did, did Huang Tao bully you? Roar! I, I won't be friends with him anymore!"
"Next time, next time he comes again, I'll kill..."
Fenrir hadn't even finished his sentence when Xia Mi brutally cut him off: "I asked you! When did this so-called Huang Tao come!"
Her mortal body let out a roar that shook the entire tunnel, causing some dust to trickle down from the tunnel ceiling. Its intensity even overpowered Fenrir's dragon roar.
Fenrir was terrified. His head hung limply, and his wings drooped to their lowest point.
He no longer dared to ramble, answering whatever Big Sister asked: "Yes-yesterday he came."
"And why do you think he's my friend?"
"He, Huang Tao, has Big Sister's scent on him, very faint. I can smell that Huang Tao often interacts with Big Sister, and he also has an aura on him that is older than ours, and very, very strong."
"?" Xia Mi's mind struggled to process this.
Often interacts with her, and his aura is ancient and powerful? No, are there such powerful figures around her?
There were no strong individuals in Cassell Preparatory Class. Xia Mi had been studying there for nearly two years and had never discovered such a presence.
Yet, with Fenrir's mind, he would definitely speak the truth; he couldn't lie.
So, was she the problem? Unable to detect a powerful figure in her daily life?
Or was the other party's ability to conceal their strength and aura too strong, which was why she couldn't discover them?
The last possibility was that Fenrir had been deceived.
At this moment, Xia Mi's anger subsided, and reason regained control. Fear crept into her heart. In that case, Huang Tao was very likely stronger than her.
No matter what, her identity was exposed. Xia Mi was already considering whether to run away.
She couldn't help it; she really didn't want to admit it, but in fact, Xia Mi was considered the weakest among the eight original Sovereigns.
If this Huang Tao was truly as powerful as Fenrir said, wouldn't staying here be a death wish?
But if she left, what would happen to Fenrir?
Xia Mi anxiously scratched her head, pulling out a good amount of her beautiful hair: "Fenrir! Tell me everything that happened yesterday, from beginning to end!"
Fenrir spilled everything like beans from a bamboo tube, leaving Xia Mi dumbfounded.
Huang Tao even brought a large quantity of chips and cola? No, wasn't this Huang Tao's first time here? How did he know her brother's preferences and tailor his approach?
Dressed all in black? Few teachers and students in all three grades of the Preparatory Class liked to wear all black. At least, among the teachers and students Xia Mi frequently interacted with, there was no such person.
His aura was ancient and powerful, making Fenrir wary? That was serious!
On the throne of the King of Earth and Mountains, Fenrir was the one who wielded power; he could be said to be the strongest in direct combat among the Four Sovereigns.
No Dragon King would willingly engage Fenrir in an absolutely head-on battle.
Such a Fenrir actually said he was wary of Huang Tao's aura?
Xia Mi's body trembled violently. Oh no, could it be the legendary White King?
The more she thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. Ancient and powerful, and Fenrir didn't recognize him, indicating he wasn't one of the Four Sovereigns. Besides the Black King, who had died and was awaiting revival, only the legendary White King remained, right?
Coincidentally, the Four Sovereigns were born after the White King. In the history of the dragon race, the White King was a taboo not to be mentioned.
The Four Sovereigns only knew of his name but had never seen his true form, so it was perfectly normal not to recognize him.
As for the records on the Dragon Race's Ice Sea Bronze Pillars, stating the White King died by Judgement and such, let's not even talk about it. It wouldn't be surprising for such a being to have any kind of life-saving contingencies.
If Fenrir hadn't said that Huang Tao's attitude was good, that he only brought chips and cola, didn't do anything, and didn't ask anything, merely making a simple visit, showing no malice.
At this moment, Xia Mi even considered a plan to have Fenrir quickly cocoon himself and then commit suicide, and then she would quickly run away.
Considering Huang Tao's attitude, Xia Mi decided to also take a few days off from the Preparatory Class.
She would stay in Nibelungen at all times, trying to wait for him. With her and her brother working together, even if they faced the White King, they might not win, but they could at least make him wary, right?
This way, she could better observe what his intentions truly were.
Because Nibelungen was difficult to build, and having to change locations and have her brother abandon his current power to cocoon himself and so on, who knew, it might turn out even worse.
In her helplessness, Xia Mi could only take things one step at a time.
