Chapter 7: Xia Mi's Probing, Alchemy
Cassell Imperial Capital Preparatory Class, Infirmary.
Xu Lie lay alone on the hospital bed, the faint resonance of the air conditioner's rollers and compressor, coupled with the smell of disinfectant, subconsciously put him at ease. He quickly fell into a light sleep.
Even though Xu Lie had already solved the problem of the nine great primordial substances constantly stirring and holding concerts in his mind, he couldn't drop his persona of being sickly.
To continue exploiting Cassell, it was best to keep acting as a sickly teenager so as not to arouse suspicion.
The Preparatory Class doctor, who was on duty, felt the urge to go to the restroom and stepped out. Xia Mi, who had been observing in secret for a long time, seized this opportunity, carefully opened the Door, and stealthily entered the infirmary.
Today, Xia Mi wore a white dress with red polka dots, a halter neck, and a ruffled hem. The straps passed over her distinctly delicate collarbone, giving her a fresh yet subtly charming look.
The small red polka dots dotted the dress, making her appear a little playful, like the warm sunshine of late summer.
That pretty face, usually wreathed in a charming smile, was now as cold as ice, and her eyes, once as bright as the stars and moon, had turned golden at some point.
Overbearing Dragon power burned in her pupils as she stared intently at Xu Lie, who was sleeping without pulling the bed curtains.
Xia Mi had been on edge these past few days, constantly hiding in the Nibelungen, waiting in vain. She hadn't found anything.
Finally, realizing she couldn't continue to hide, she returned to the Preparatory Class, attempting to find this 'Huang Tao' person.
To ask him what he intended to do!
Speaking of which, the Black King was also cruel. The Four Sovereigns he created each sat on a throne with a twin.
If the Dragon Kings wished to undergo metamorphosis and become complete, they needed to devour their siblings, exchanging eternal solitude for the rest of their lives for power.
Xia Mi and Fenrir had a deep bond, or rather, all Dragon King twins were like this. How could she bring herself to do it?
Resisting solitude and wanting to survive the apocalypse with Fenrir, Xia Mi could only turn her attention to her other siblings.
Xia Mi's original plan was to lie low in the Preparatory Class, genuinely disguise herself as a Hybrid, and enroll in Cassel College.
Then, with the help of Cassel College's power, she would embark on the great task of Dragon slaying, killing her other siblings, and devouring the Dragon bones left behind after their deaths to gain power and resist the apocalypse.
But then a Huang Tao suddenly appeared, disrupting all her plans. Xia Mi's identity was exposed, and her base, Fenrir, was revealed.
The current situation was precarious for Xia Mi. If she didn't find Huang Tao soon, Xia Mi felt like she would go mad.
Xia Mi was extremely uneasy allowing Huang Tao, who knew everything about her, to act freely.
According to Fenrir, Huang Tao carried a scent that one would only have from prolonged contact with Xia Mi.
Leaving aside the teachers who were often in contact, among the students, only classmates counted as frequently interacting. And coincidentally, on that particular day, only Xu Lie from Xia Mi's class had taken leave.
Although Xu Lie taking leave was commonplace, among the students, only Xu Lie was a suspect.
Thinking this, Xia Mi no longer hesitated, striding forward. Her perfectly long and slender legs emerged from beneath her skirt, and her shoes were like a cat's paw pads, making no sound as she walked.
She was like the most skilled Assassin, having honed her assassination techniques to perfection.
Stealthily and silently, she moved in front of Xu Lie. Xia Mi threw a punch, as if to kill her classmate.
Fortunately, her pale, delicate fist stopped a mere half-centimeter from Xu Lie's nose, a perfectly timed halt.
This showed the extent of Xia Mi's control over her body.
The faint airflow generated by this punch brushed against Xu Lie's face, yet it failed to wake him. He continued to sleep soundly.
Xia Mi subconsciously extinguished her Golden Pupil, retracted her fist, crossed her arms, and frowned. Still no reaction?
It wasn't Xu Lie?
Then it could only be the teachers.
That day's timetable was packed, with classes all day, except for Alchemy class and Dragon history class, which had no lessons.
Which meant, it was either the Alchemy teacher or the history teacher?
Considering that the infirmary doctor would be back soon, Xia Mi silently departed, believing she hadn't disturbed anyone.
Regrettably, this clone of Xu Lie, who had returned to school, only possessed the Sequence 7 level of power, but he also carried the Cryptologist's excellent observational abilities.
All the subtle clues and traces left in the infirmary were noticed by Xu Lie immediately.
"Really, if you want to come and go stealthily, you shouldn't wear perfume." Sniffing the lingering hint of citrus perfume in the air, the awakened Xu Lie easily deduced that Xia Mi had been there.
This Dragon King was a bit clumsy.
"Student Xu Lie, are you awake?" The doctor heard the movement, turned his chair, and looked over: "Are you feeling better?"
Xu Lie feigned a semblance of alertness and obediently replied: "Thank you, Dr. Li, my head feels much clearer."
Dr. Li opened his mouth, wanting to say something but held back, finally putting on a smile: "If you ever feel unwell in the future, you can always come here to rest."
"Do you want me to give you a key to the infirmary?"
Xu Lie could be said to be the infirmary's most frequent visitor. Dr. Li was very familiar with and sympathetic towards this young man.
Young as he was, due to an incomplete bloodline, he suffered from an unknown congenital headache, which neither modern medicine nor Alchemy could cure.
All that could be done was for Xu Lie to rest more.
Xu Lie sat on the hospital bed for a while before getting down, putting on his shoes, and taking his leave: "No need, giving me the infirmary key would be too much."
"Dr. Li, I'm going to the library now."
Going to the library again? What a diligent child, but your body... Dr. Li pursed his lips, then finally clenched his fist and waved: "Huo, then good luck!"
Everyone in the Preparatory Class knew that Xu Lie, who was last in every subject, would never get into Cassell. After graduation, due to his intermittent headaches, even if he stayed to work in the Preparatory Class, it would be hard to find a job.
Given this, logically, Dr. Li should have advised the patient to continue resting, not suggesting frequent studying which would deplete his mental energy.
But seeing Xu Lie's resolute expression, Dr. Li understood in his heart that persuasion would be useless.
Of course, persuasion was useless. Xu Lie went to the library and borrowed several books on Alchemy.
Then he found an empty classroom, set up candles, and began to perform a sacrificial ritual.
This was a method from the original novel of 'Lord of the Mysteries': sacrificing items to the Sefirah Castle through a ritual, and then, in turn, using the Sefirah Castle to send the items to the clone's hands through a bestowal ritual.
This easily allowed for transactions across space.
Several Alchemy books were transferred in this way, unknowingly moving from the Preparatory Class classroom to a street-side hotel, into the hands of Xu Lie's main body.
At the same time, information about Xia Mi's probing was also conveyed. Xu Lie's main body was indifferent; he just needed his clone to be careful.
The small reason for sending the clone back to the Preparatory Class to exploit resources and obtain Alchemy books was to prevent Xia Mi from going mad and searching the world for Xu Lie.
Rather than that, it was better to send a clone to stay right under the Dragon King's nose.
"I didn't expect to still need to study after transmigrating," Xu Lie sighed, then began to flip through the books, diligently studying Alchemy.
His main body had to do this himself; the clone couldn't substitute in terms of learning and reading comprehension.
He was both interested in Alchemy, the core technology of Dragon civilization, and using the acting method to digest the Cryptologist potion.
The core Alchemy of the Dragon race, how could it be merely one mystery?
It was an entire, mature system of mysteries!
Xu Lie had a premonition that as long as he could learn Alchemy to a certain extent, he would easily digest the Cryptologist potion.
