Maitreya Buddha looked at the three thousand Buddhas, all acting as if it was none of their business, and then at the Tathagata Buddha, who seemed so benevolent and righteous. In that instant, Maitreya Buddha felt a surge of madness within him.
But then he suddenly remembered how, back when the Medicine Buddha's disciple was banished from Buddhism for being tainted by the mortal world, he had also sat high on the platform, watching from the sidelines, only to later offer righteous and stern advice to the Medicine Buddha, attempting to excuse him.
All of this seemed so familiar yet so foreign to Maitreya Buddha.
The events that befell that banished disciple were now being replayed on him.
And before this, there had been countless similar occurrences.
The words of justice from the Western Heaven had been spoken for thousands of years.
But the indifference and ruthlessness of the Western Heaven were a crime of which everyone was guilty.
Moreover, the vast majority of Buddhas needed the protection of the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva to advance safely and without calamity in their cultivation.
The advantages of the Western Heaven were such that countless Buddhas desperately wanted to advance within it, and countless mortals flocked to the Western Paradise.
At this moment, the Tathagata's words were meant to threaten Maitreya Buddha, to force him to accept punishment obediently, with a chance to return to the Western Heaven only after tens of thousands of years.
Otherwise, the Western Heaven would have no place for him!
Maitreya Buddha couldn't help but feel driven to madness. He couldn't help but laugh loudly towards the sky:
"Hahahaha! Hahahahaha! Good, Tathagata! Good, Medicine Buddha! Good, Western Heaven! Good, my Buddha's compassion!"
"I only have the safety of the Western Heaven at heart. I subdue demons and eliminate evil. I am innocent, I am innocent, but..."
Maitreya Buddha suddenly stopped his maniacal laughter.
He made a single-handed salute, and his face instantly returned to a calm smile.
"I am willing to accept the punishment."
Strange, extremely strange.
One second he was laughing maniacally and sarcastically, but the next second he was making a single-handed salute, smiling, and willingly accepting the punishment.
It seemed that Maitreya Buddha had obediently accepted reality.
But the Tathagata Buddha was not surprised and said indifferently:
"Why haven't you retreated yet!"
No matter how strong Maitreya Buddha was, if he wasn't in the Western Heaven, he would hardly gain more benefits in the Three Realms.
The Western Heaven controlled the lifelines of countless people. No one would defy the Western Heaven, not even a quasi-sage great power, a future Buddha.
Maitreya Buddha closed his eyes slightly, the smile on his face still so dazzling.
"The sinful Buddha is willing to receive the decree... Amitabha..."
Maitreya Buddha turned and left, his face bearing a smile as calm as an ancient well, but it was already devoid of emotion, like a corpse's face with a ghostly smile.
Chu Hao frowned, feeling that some kind of plot was about to be triggered next.
But Maitreya Buddha didn't seem to resent Chu Hao, at least after Chu Hao made eye contact with Maitreya Buddha, what he saw was a pair of eyes like a pool of stagnant water.
Yet beneath the stagnant water, there was an undercurrent surging.
Obviously, the joys and sorrows of gods and Buddhas were not shared.
Chu Hao couldn't wait to kill this little bastard who sent someone to attack Fairy Nishang, but now being exiled to the South Sea was clearly an acceptable outcome.
