Chapter 5 5. I have an idea
The barque re-entered the mist, heading towards Bretonnia.
Daquus lay in bed and wanted to sleep, but he couldn't fall asleep no matter how much he tossed and turned. He had no choice but to pick up his halberd and prepare to go to the deck for training.
On the deck, Dastan Coldeye was still at the helm, and Edmund was still training the soldiers. What else could he do if he didn't train?
Dacus stood on the deck, waved to Stan Lengyan on the upper deck, and shouted, "Edmund!"
The two men put down their work and quickly walked over to salute. Daquus leaned on the deck railing, feeling the sea breeze and said, "How's it going?"
"Master, the ship has set sail and will reach the coast of Bretonnia in two months."
There are twenty-four hours in this world, eight days in a week, and four hundred days in a year.
Dacius nodded and looked at Edmund, who was confused and didn't know what to say. Dacius then looked at the head hanging behind the mast and said, "The head from the duel with Flannais must be kept safe; it was his trophy. How many sets of armor were seized?"
Edmund replied, "My lord, I will arrange for safekeeping. There is a White Lion breastplate that is completely broken, as well as two sets of White Lion armor and fourteen sets of light armor."
Daxus said boredly, "Are we here to do business or to have fun?"
Dastan Lengyan understood and said, "Master? Do you want to visit our cousin's village?"
"What else? Send someone to call Ryan over and we'll study it."
The three Druks didn't continue talking. Dastan Coldeye and Edmund were thinking, and Darkus looked at the mast boredly.
After a while, Ryan also walked over quickly.
Dacus said, "I have a plan, a big plan!"
Then he said in Duruchi: "Since we are here, let's go to a village." After that, he stood up and walked to Ryan. Looking into Ryan's brown eyes, he said: "I need you to do something."
At night, the moons of Manasrib and Morsrib hung high in the sky, and a tranquility, bathed in silvery mist, spread across the land of Ulthuan. Renn, clad in white lion armor and bearing a great axe, appeared on the highway along Ulthuan's coastline. Gazing at the glimmering lights of the city walls in the distance, he took a deep breath and began to run against the wind.
The village was surrounded by a five-meter-high wall. The defenders on the wall saw Ryan's arrival and began to be alert. Ryan, panting, ran to the city gate, hammered his axe into the ground, and gasped.
The captain of the Sea Guard on the city wall looked at him warily, and the other soldiers drew their bows and aimed at Ryan.
Ryan looked up and said, "A group of Druzy pirates landed, and our team participating in the White Lion Trial was ambushed and killed."
The captain of the Sea Guard was not used to his bad habits and asked, "Which family are you from?"
"I am a woodcutter from Tar Gelder, not a noble."
"What's the name of the daughter of the head of the Rekai family?"
Ryan's heart skipped a beat, but he kept saying, "How come I didn't know Lord Solka had a daughter? Do you think I'm a spy?"
"One last question, what is the name of Lord Solka's son?"
Ryan shouted impatiently, "Kohler, are you done yet?"
The village's chief garrison, upon learning of the situation, rushed to the tower and nodded inwardly over the conversation. He then poked his head over the wall and asked, "How many Druzy pirates are there?"
"There are about forty of us. We broke out and got separated. I'm here to inform you to be on high alert. I'm going back to find my companions. Lord Enna of the Lalian family is still in the woods." After saying this, he was about to turn around and walk back.
The captain of the garrison quickened his thoughts when he heard the noble's name. "Wait a minute," he said. "I'll send a hundred Sea Guardsmen to follow you."
The centurion of the hundred-man team held a torch and observed Ryan's brown pupils with a wary look. Seeing that they were not the black and purple pupils unique to the Kingdom of Nagarythe, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Ryan led the 100-man team and began to sneak away, leading these unfortunate people into the ambush circle deep in the woods. Seeing the ambush circle, Ryan said, "Should we put out the torches? Why is it so quiet around here? Are we being targeted?"
The centurion looked at him suspiciously and handed him the torch from the soldier beside him. He said, "You hold it and lead the way. The others, extinguish your torches and stay together. Don't get separated. If there's any danger, form a formation immediately."
Ryan looked at the centurion angrily, took the torch and walked ahead. Suddenly, he stopped in front of a tree trunk and looked at it.
Then Ryan said, "There is a mark on the tree, my people are nearby. Praise the God of Fraud." After that, he threw the torch out, rolled behind the tree trunk, and shot an arrow at the tree trunk where Ryan had just stayed.
The centurion fired his arrow and roared, "There's an ambush, form a battle array."
The Tritons gathered together and leaned against the tree trunks to form a small square. The Triton archers in the middle of the square half-drew their bows. The forest was dark and nothing could be seen. The Tritons were breathing heavily nervously.
In the distance, Alyssa got up from the ground, raised the golden snake staff and began to control the wind of Gul, muttering some mumbling spells. Several fear spearmen also got up and lined up in front of Alyssa with shields raised.
The woodlands were animated by the Ghor Wind. Strong winds whipped through the trees, and a storm of nearby branches and leaves swept towards the Tritons, whipping branches and tangling thorns, causing those trapped within to scream.
Triton was screaming over there, while Darkius was distracted here, muttering in his mind, "So there are more than six spells. Is this the forest reviving or the earth spirit awakening? Aren't those all life-related spells?"
Alyssa finished casting the spell and leaned against the tree trunk, panting and sweating. She looked at Daquus and said, "My lord, I have cast the Forest Awakening spell. Their formation should be disrupted."
Dacus teased, "You're a little weak. You need some nourishment." Then he shouted, "Edmund!"
Edmund understood and shouted, "Attack!"
"Druzi, spear and shield!"
"Praise Kane!"
The Black Sharp Crossbowmen and their crewmates began firing their crossbows. The Dread Spearmen and the Gloomy Swordsmen pressed forward with shields raised, while the Black Ark Pirates and Beast Tamers followed behind them, firing.
After emptying the six-round crossbow magazine, the Black Ark pirates slung their repeating crossbows around their waists and drew their weapons, fishing nets, grappling hooks, and barbed steel chains. The animal trainers, after firing their harpoons, took out their whips.
The Tritons' formation had long been unsustainable. Some were shot dead by flying crossbow arrows, some had their eyes scratched by leaves, and some were tripped by thorns and fell to the ground.
"charge!"
Darkus also rushed forward with a sword and shield. The Black Ark pirates threw fishing nets and steel chains over and started fighting in close combat.
The killing begins!
