Chapter 75: Banshee's Wanted Poster

WANTED (Rank C) Nikita

—————————————

August 31, 2012, 1:35 PM.

A demon invasion occurred on a First University special plane.

The demon involved, Nikita, is female, a new generation Lich within a hundred years old.

She was once an excellent graduate (candidate) of Alpha Academy at First University.

Height 170cm, weight 56kg, black hair.

At the time of transformation, she had already met the Registered Wizard standard, with excellent scores in five major subjects.

She is now suspected to be a Disciple of the Evil Lord, Great Liches Ulrich.

Hunting Teams of Rank C and above are advised to list her as a priority Demon Hunting target.

For Hunting Teams that successfully hunt this demon, First University Demon Hunting Fund will reward 100 jade coin; Trident Sword Wanted Fund will reward 100 jade coin; Moonlight Council will additionally reward 100 jade coin; Wizard Alliance Registered Hunting Team points will increase by one hundred points.

“So, this little demoness who just boarded the Mist has become a big shot on the wanted list, while old guys like us, who have been on the Mist for over a decade, haven’t even had our names remembered by the Wizards!” Ryan roared on the deck, pulling at his collar, pacing back and forth agitatedly.

He waved a brand new wanted poster in his hand.

On the wanted poster, Nikita stood sideways in front of a messy bar, her chin slightly raised, her eyes seductive yet arrogant. A bleeding large snake lay limp at her feet, and behind her were a group of trembling figures.

“And what did she do, harming that cute little worm! This is revenge! Unbridled revenge!” Ryan stood in front of the foresail, stomping his foot heavily.

On the foremast, the coiled large snakes flicked their tongues, pitifully rubbing against Ryan’s heel.

On the wooden platform at the top of the cabin.

Harry still wore his pink POLO shirt and white-green floral beach shorts, lazily sprawled in a lounge chair, not saying a word.

He could understand Ryan’s agitation.

Because anger was also simmering in his chest.

Even beauties on wanted lists should follow basic principles, Harry fumed.

There's an old saying in the world of Baiding: if there's anyone in this world who understands you best, it must be your enemy.

This saying couldn't be more apt when applied to Wizards and demons.

As adversaries who have been entangled for thousands of years, Wizards have a very complete and profound understanding of demons.

This understanding is clearly demonstrated in the wanted lists issued by the Wizard Alliance.

At the beginning of each month, the Wizard Alliance issues the latest wanted lists worldwide. Many wanted demons who have been executed are removed, and many new wanted demons enter people's sight.

Although every demon is a target for Wizards to hunt, not every demon is qualified to be on the Wizards' wanted list.

Being on the wanted list means being prioritized for hunting by Wizard Hunting Teams.

It also means that this demon poses a threat to the Wizards.

Just like the Sea Monster King.

Just like the four Sea Demons.

Just like the battle captains on the Mist.

Every demon on the wanted list has a formidable reputation among demons.

So much so that demons regard the wanted list as a recognized ranking.

Many demons wantonly harm Baiding to increase their bloodthirst value in order to get on this wanted list.

Even so, most demons can only obtain 'D' Rank and below wanted qualifications.

“A reward of three hundred jade coin, one hundred Hunting Team points, and it’s Rank C.” Harry mumbled, slapping the Ms. Duoduo he held against his face, his voice particularly dejected: “Perhaps Nikita will become this year’s Rookie King.”

“Rookie King” is a term young demons use privately.

It refers to the demon who first appears on the Wizard Alliance's newly issued wanted list each year, with the highest bounty and Rank.

According to historical experience, many Rookie Kings grow into Great Demons.

This means that some high-level demons have already started to focus their attention on the demoness.

The agitated Ryan stopped, tugged at his golden hair, looked up at the sky, and sighed deeply.

An awkward silence fell over the deck.

In the clear blue sky, only a large black bird spread its wings, carefully circling.

Compared to the deck, which had just fallen silent, the Mist’s cabin had always been exceptionally quiet.

The cold wind of the North Sea swirled around the narrow window, circling, not daring to enter freely.

The sunlight was particularly cold, casting only a faint white shadow on the wooden table by the window.

There wasn't a single light in the dim Captain's room.

However, compared to last time, there were many glowing little worms in the room.

They crawled freely in every corner of the room, shimmering with a faint green glow.

Perhaps these are the Captain’s new pets? Nikita knelt at the wooden table, staring at a small green-glowing worm perched on a wooden barrel not far away, pondering to herself.

The Captain of the Mist lay lazily on the table, one hand propping up his chin, his eyes hazy as he gazed at the horizon where the sea met the sky.

He had maintained this posture for a long time.

The demoness kneeling at the table shifted uneasily.

The Captain withdrew his gaze and let his eyes fall on the ancient leather scroll on the table.

The demoness raised her eyelids, cautiously glancing at it.

She remembered seeing this scroll the last time she entered the Captain's room.

“Curious?” The Captain tossed the scroll in front of the demoness, his voice very gentle: “Then take a look.”

Nikita closed her eyes, crouching on the ground in terror, not daring to move.

“Not particularly stupid, after all.” The Captain snapped his fingers, and an old elf with pointed ears, a round head, and pale skin crawled out from the dark corner of the cabin, picked up the scroll, and slowly retreated into the darkness.

“Since you’re not stupid, why did you expose yourself?” The Captain pointed upwards, his tone slightly cold: “And why did you repeatedly bring a tail onto the Mist?”

Nikita trembled violently.

“I don’t know,” the demoness whimpered, prostrate on the ground.

“You don’t know?” The Captain raised his eyelids in surprise, his dark pupils slightly fluctuating.

This answer was a bit unexpected for him.

If the demoness could find a suitable excuse, perhaps he would give her a decent death.

For example, just taking out her brain.

But the words ‘I don’t know’ were somewhat disappointingly shocking.

Was there anything more irresponsible than those three words?

The Captain licked his bluish-black lips.

It had been a long time since he had eaten a demoness’s heart.

Nikita clearly felt a terrifying Qi mechanism enveloping her, suffocating her.

“You can check my memories!” the demoness shrieked: “You will get a satisfactory answer! Memories of death will be incomplete!”

The Mist Captain was silent for a moment, then extended his hand and placed it on Nikita’s head.

Intense pain spread from her head.

The demoness bit her arm, fainting on the ground.

Silent River…

Silent Forest…

The Trickster’s parents…

A small piece of black bread…

The admission letter from First University…

A pair of warm, emerald green eyes…

A slight smile tugged at the Mist Captain’s lips, his fingers moving slightly.

The unconscious demoness let out a muffled groan.

The special plane of First University…

The hunger and demon blood rampage deep within the demoness…

The hijacking and standoff in the restaurant…

The special plane guards who rushed to the scene…

“So that’s how it is,” the Captain muttered, removing his hand from Nikita’s head.

The sweat on the demoness's head dampened his palm. He pulled out a clean white handkerchief, wiped his hand, and tossed it onto the demoness's head.

“Get up,” he commanded.

The demoness shivered, slowly opening her eyes.

Then she trembled, kneeling up.

“Since the task is complete, then stay on the Mist at ease,” the Mist Captain smiled gently: “Don’t worry, I’m tired of eating demon brains; I don’t like those spicy memories. In comparison, the mellow memories of Wizards are more to my taste. And, the memories you just brought are very good.”

Nikita’s lips trembled, and she managed a forced dry laugh.

The Captain’s right hand slid down her cheek to her pale shoulder, admiring: “Youth feels truly good.”

Then he extended the sharp nail of his right index finger and carved a flowing ‘M’ onto her shoulder.

Purplish-red blood just oozed from the wound onto her skin before quickly turning black, leaving a deep mark.

Nikita bent down, prostrating herself at his feet, and kissed the hem of his robe.

“From now on, you can call me Captain, just like them.”
