Chapter 17: Future plans

Luo Mu’s eyes lit up; he had been waiting for that exact sentence.

Compared to him, an amateur, burying himself in research, or relying on the experiences of bloggers from other regions with different climates and environments, directly consulting local professionals was the most suitable approach.

Luo Mu said frankly, “To be honest, I’m a bit unsure about the choice of the first batch of crops for my farm, which is why I thought of visiting Jones Farm to learn from your experience.”

Peter blinked, suddenly enlightened. He wondered why Luo Mu, who should be a Peers, instead cast curious glances at the fields along the way. So, he was half an amateur.

Perhaps he was a rich young master trying out a new hobby; Peter didn't quite understand the thoughts of wealthy people.

His face still beaming, Peter patted his chest, as if to say it was all on him, and said, “You’ve asked the right person about this, because when the boss and his wife noticed that wasteland, they sent me to investigate it. So I know that the soil of that wasteland is basically the same as ours at Jones Farm. Essentially, whatever we can grow, you can grow too.”

Peter led Luo Mu, Pai Pa, and Mabosstiff to an orchard where trees producing the most common and highest-demand Oran Berry and pecha berry were cultivated.

Pai Pa looked curious. After getting Peter’s permission, he led Mabosstiff, under the guidance of the fruit farmer responsible for this area, to experience the joy of harvesting snag berries.

Luo Mu stroked the slightly rough bark of the Oran Berry trees and pecha berry trees, looking up. A lush Oran Berry tree bore hundreds of Oran Berry.

Luo Mu remembered that a normal quality Oran Berry was about 20 alliance currency, and after testing, an excellent quality Oran Berry would not exceed 100 alliance currency at most.

He just didn't know the price of Oran Berry saplings, and what their Growth and harvest cycles were like.

Luo Mu looked at Peter, stating his questions, and waited for the answer as the other party pondered.

Peter pondered for a moment. Logically, he shouldn’t explain too much to a competitor of the farm he worked for. According to the boss and his wife, he should just give some common-sense directions.

However, Luo Mu was probably a rich second-generation playing around; his farm would likely not impact Jones Farm's sales, so he wasn't a noteworthy competitor. Moreover, the information he was asking about could be found online with a little effort, so it was better to build a good relationship.

Peter’s expression remained unchanged as he smiled and said, “Oran Berry trees and pecha berry trees are both one thousand alliance currency per sapling. The harvest cycle, depending on the refined varieties, is mostly between one and a half to two and a half months.”

“However, you need to note that most snag berries trees require two months for Growth before they start bearing fruit. That is to say, if you choose to plant saplings, including the saplings’ Growth cycle, you will need to wait at least three and a half months.”

“If you transplant fruit trees, you won’t need to wait that long; you’ll see snag berries next month.”

“Of course, this is also because snag berries contain rich energy. If they were ordinary fruits and vegetables, there would be no such restrictions; they usually mature in one or two months.”

Peter finished speaking in one breath, then looked at Luo Mu, observing his expression.

Luo Mu pulled out a small notebook from somewhere. As Peter spoke, he seriously organized the key points and then wrote them down.

It seemed he wasn't worried about capital turnover at all, only focused on learning.

Peter could only give up the idea of earning a commission by introducing Luo Mu to a batch of already mature fruit trees.

The visit to Jones Farm went smoothly. Luo Mu gained a lot of small pieces of knowledge that would be difficult to know without practical experience, and he felt even more confident about building the farm.

On the way back to the farm with Pai Pa and Mabosstiff, Luo Mu had already envisioned his initial planting goals in his mind.

Firstly, some ordinary crops led by potatoes, tomatoes, and cabbage. Before the snag berries trees matured, they would be one of the main sources of income.

Secondly, snag berries trees. Considering his limited experience, Luo Mu initially only planned to plant Oran Berry and pecha berry, two types of snag berries trees with high demand that were not as particular about Growth environment as other rare snag berries trees.

Luo Mu also asked Peter later how much a snag berries tree that had already grown to fruit-bearing age would cost, but Peter's quoted price of three thousand alliance currency really deterred him.

He currently only had 231,145 alliance currency in savings. How could he burn so much money? He wouldn't starve if he waited a while, and he would be getting his salary from Orange Academy soon.

The Grassy Seed needed to cover the ranch area was also not a small sum, and there were edible fish fry that needed to be introduced into the lake area. As for Pokemon like fish, it would be cheaper for him to catch them himself than to introduce them.

It was better to honestly plant snag berries saplings. Taking too big a step too quickly could lead to problems. Taking it one step at a time was the most stable approach.

Since potatoes could even be grown in Siberia, he would set a small goal first: successfully growing one potato would be a victory!

Soon, Luo Mu, Pai Pa, and Mabosstiff returned to the farm entrance. Since Jones Farm and the road to Lighthouse Research Institute in South Area One were in opposite directions, Pai Pa planned to return to Lighthouse Research Institute by himself with Mabosstiff.

Pai Pa’s face was beaming with a smile, and he waved his hand, skipping, “Brother Luo Mu, I had a lot of fun today. Thank you for your hospitality~”

Luo Mu stroked his soft, reddish-brown hair and asked, “Won’t you stay for dinner before you go?”

“No need, Mom has prepared delicious food waiting for me~” Pai Pa recalled Ao Lin’s promise when he left in the morning with the tera orb, and an expectant look appeared on his face.

He hadn't eaten food cooked by Ao Lin herself in a long time.

Luo Mu didn't insist, only suggesting, “How about I let Dragonite take you? It flies very fast. Maybe you can even go back early and help Dr. Olin, and you two can cook together.”

Luo Mu felt that as long as Pai Pa influenced Ao Lin and the others through small details, perhaps it could, to some extent, alter the outcome of the potentially tragic story that might come.

Compared to a Maushold, he still wanted to see a Maushold.

Luo Mu’s suggestion greatly tempted Pai Pa, who agreed without hesitation. He sat on Dragonite’s back, which Luo Mu had called over, clutching a red-and-white ball in his hand, which contained Mabosstiff.

Luo Mu had heard that Mabosstiff was still in a wild state and had not been captured, so he dug out a unused red-and-white ball from his inventory and gave it to Pai Pa.

Once Pai Pa indicated he was ready, Dragonite flapped its small wings and instantly ascended into the sky, slowly disappearing into the horizon.

Watching Dragonite’s shadow vanish into the distance, Luo Mu stretched, muttering, “Now’s a good time to go to the market and buy some seeds.”
